If my dad is buying the Preve CFE with Protronic CVT....I guess I might pitch in and buy myself a manual Preve CFE in the future.

QUOTE(kongyw @ Sep 5 2012, 03:06 PM) Today the engine cut off again in the afternoon after engaging to "R". Engine cut off immediately or after few second? - yesterday wrote to i.care regarding this and this morning a member of the team called me up to inform me that COSE is fully booked the following few days and suggest that perhaps I can just stick to the original appointment on 13-Sept, else I can try Glenmarie SC... also told me that it "shouldn't" be an issue with the "R" randomly acting up... Mine is cut off within 2-3 seconds when not pressing the accelator harder. It is like engine is losing the power and die off.... After sent to SC, they change the Oil control valve and CPS Solenoid valve. So far so good.... jerking issue also improved (not a lot but can feel it). If not wrong, fuel comsumption is increased a little bit also... Before, it is around 10.5L/100KM. After, it is around 11L/100KM. Anyway, still monitoring.... |

QUOTE(maan @ Sep 5 2012, 04:39 PM) Engine cut off immediately or after few second? i give my take on this problem. not a technical person so dont know how to explain it. i drove my vios, estima, triton lite, toyota LE , i like to drive the car and stop and push to R ( yes i know its bad for car, but lazy to wait) , the engine will cut off immediately. so i dont think its a preve / proton thingy la. Mine is cut off within 2-3 seconds when not pressing the accelator harder. It is like engine is losing the power and die off.... Anyway, still monitoring.... i think this happen cz we change the gear too fast. |

QUOTE(edwinkbs @ Sep 5 2012, 03:34 PM) There already got new ECU which does't sluggish out there. But it definitely sacrifices your FC and also whats the point for the S mode if D mode is the same as S? if the new ECU will make the preve always in S mode... then i dont really see the point.. super high FC yo.. if in this case then i would prefer to stay with the sluggish preve.. hehe.. |

QUOTE(DaBestOne @ Sep 5 2012, 04:29 PM) Hehe. I hope there are plans by Proton for one. I have been using an auto car lately, and after a few days I do appreciate the convenience, and that it saves me quite a bit on fatigue. However I do like the control of a manual still, and the fact that I don't have to worry about shifting modes whenever I want to make an overtaking move. comforts me. Plus shifting without using a clutch, heel-and-toe, and some other skills I've learnt with my trusty Myvi will not go to waste. I have yet however tried the manual mode of a Preve. The car felt quite energetic in S-mode, but never tried manual. This was my father testing it, I wasn't behind the wheel. I will one day try it on my own. Still, if a CVT is that energetic, a manual would really..... |

QUOTE(archiq @ Sep 5 2012, 05:51 PM) Play with the revs. For Myvi 1.0 it's very inefficent because the gear lever just won't go in and out so smoothly at lower revs, but shifting is quite fast. I'm not gonna discuss too much on this, look it up in Youtube, or just Google. There are tutorials, but use this technique at your own risk. I am not responsible for damage to your gearbox. The rule of thumb is, if it won't go in and out of gear smoothly, let it go and use the clutch. Also I use 'half-clutching' most of the time instead of the full-on no clutch. I don't have to go to high RPMs that way. Oh forgot to mention, this will wear out your synchros faster if you slip-up too much. So once I know how to do it, I stopped doing the full-on no clutch. Only occasionally for the lulz. This post has been edited by tunertoobe: Sep 5 2012, 06:20 PM |

I knew it! After the last movie u're here, in Malaysia Batman.. Or should I call, Bruce Wayne... No laa, having a beemer driver to be advising us bunch of Protoners are definitely a pleasure in the eyes bro. Don't go yet, please stay batman.. Lose battery terminal is definitely among the thing Proton did a silent recall for. Those who didn't know might have missed the post in earlier thread I think. Usually this will be done when u go for service... So many other otais out there can also confirmed on this one. |

QUOTE(Jonesyming @ Sep 5 2012, 01:51 PM) Guys, do you experience fog/misting at ur front windscreen near the 2 windscreen demisters? mine not like this. maybe the "gate" that control the flow spoil d. get it checked.I always experience it as there is soft cooled air coming out from there causing misting although i switch to any non-demister mode. Is it leakage or is it standard for preve? thanks... Anybody care to reply me? =( |

QUOTE(mrchinot @ Sep 5 2012, 03:29 PM) as what i can recalled during the earlier thread, the difference is the earlier alphabet character that diff between cfe & exec.. but note sure about the numbers... mrchinot, I think (and hope) you are right. try check batt terminal... my boss PA is driving the exec ver got this kind of symptom also last time... she called the nearby workshop and they say its the batt terminal loose... reason being explained is that, any cars, when shift gear, engine got slight movement that "might" interfere with the batt connection, thus cause the car to loose power... (sorry ye, layman term, coz i also don't understand).. the mechanic said he had done to several preve already... all turn out OK after that... you might want to give it a try... eh... how come i suddenly rajin reply in LYN... must go back to BatCave and bertapa... let the preve owners / otais give their feedback pulak.. I checked and noticed I could easily lift up the black/negative terminal. It must be the time when I removed the VS which I had installed earlier and did a lousy job at putting back the battery terminals. After tightening it and when shifting into R, the engine seems to sound better and no more jerking i.e. like the engine is getting cut off. I will test it out further tomorrow and let you know the results. Thanks! |

That one sure u can feel the difference. Thanks QUOTE(whleong860705 @ Sep 5 2012, 09:33 PM) Does anyone have problem with the air cond? My aircond works like normal but after 20 to 30 minutes drive, it doesnt function like u dont on ur aircond. Then i off and and on again, white smoke coming out of air cond vent It may due to the fact that ur aircond gas has depleted. Got one case in Kota Bharu where the newly acquired unit came with a faulty aircond as well as the depleted gas. That's turbo cooling fan at work bro. Dont worry! |

Then i off and and on again, white smoke coming out of air cond vent did you use internal or external air for circulation? the "white smoke" could be vapor when hot/humid air from outside mixed with the lower temperature air in your car cabin. To use internal air for circulation for CFE model, press the right most knob (the temperature control knob), you should see an indicator light in red. |
