That looking up phase being stuck in your internet browser implies that it cannot resolve the IP address of the website.

Try changing your DNS to google's (8.8.8.8) or OpenDNS (208.67.220.220) and see what happens.

Same case here TS. Just upgraded from streamyx 4mbps to VIP5. But the latter's performance (VIP5) isn't as good as the former's (streamyx 4mbps).

- I need to refresh every new website that I open in order for me to be able
to view it properly.
- No photos on facebook (opened from iphone/ipad).
- Signal unstable, eventhough the router is just sitting in front of me.

After 1 day of using, I am already thinking of "downgrading" to my previous 4mbps. But it seems that there's no cooling off period (COP) for this unifi, is it true?

*sigh*

There are probelms with the default TM DNS. Use alternative and it goes away. Already reported to TM months back and not sure they fixed it. You can see PING dropping packets when you ping TM DNS

Find the network configuration for Internet Protocol as known as [IPv4] , click properties and will get a window box pop-up whether u wanna obtain both the IP and DNS server automatically or either the manual !!

Under the DNS , u can change the settings to manual and you should key in the preferred and alternate dns address

Preferred : 208.67.222.222
Alternate : 208.67.220.220

I think in later MAC 10.5 version ... is under >>> system preference > view > network > under network u might find your wifi name and just anyhow go in to it under the properties and change the DNS..

Sorry , i'm not a mac user ... but anyhow I can configure my mom's iPhone ..., but usually it dont have any preferred or alternate DNS keybox ... it will just say DNS .... then u have to change it to 208.67.220.220 or the other one !!

If u're running wireless, try to use B/G mode instead of B/G/N mode.
If having problems with Apple devices or older Wireless adapters, Turn off Auto 20/40 Channel Width, use 20 only.
If wireless still got issue, try running INSSIDER to scan which networks are around u, using what channel. Try to select a channel that has least interference with others. This is very useful if u're staying in a condo/dense area where u can get more than 15 wifi within your reach. Happen to me before, wireless ping to my router more than 20% drop and more than 100ms, cause got 12 wifi running on original channel 6 -.-
For general connectivity issues, maybe u can try turning off the internal firewall of the DIR615 if it's on. That firewall really slows down the router.
N also change the DNS to OpenDNS or GoogleDNS. GoogleDNS would be faster as servers are in Malaysia 8.8.8.8 ; 8.8.4.4. OpenDNS in singapore.

I am on the Unifi VIP 10 but the speed is very inconsistent, it can be 2 - 4 Mbps anytime and then all of sudden 9 - 11 Mbps. I think they are over crowded and most of the time surfing to the sites that have images, mostly came out with ?? and etc.

Very weird.

i noticed this problem on the first day i installed unifi so i called them up to see if they can solve it and all they told me that the connection was not 'stable' as it was new and ask me to wait at least 24 hours after installation so that the connection is more 'stable' ._.
i went holiday for a week and after i came back i found that the problem was still there.
and today they scheduled people to come to my house and have a look at it.
the guy insisted it was my laptop problem and he said he cleared my browsing history because according to him it was too much that caused those webpages to not load. he told me say after clearing just wait and see if the problem still exist, if it does call them again.
and i was like wth? they were damn lazy ..they wanted to finish it fast so that they can go home!

It has been more than 1 month (nearly 2 months) I have been using Unifi VIP5 at my housing area at Kuantan. And the problem (same as most of u guys) still persists.
- Can't load images from facebook. Too slow!
- Youtube inconsistent. Sometimes can load, sometimes can't.
- Can't load images from most of the sites, even lowyat.net.
- ping test to most of the websites seem OK.

I have tried changing the DNS to googleDNS or openDNS but it doesn't really make any significant difference. Sometimes OK, most of the time NOT. And now, I feel regret "upgrading" from streamyx to unifi. Paying more for something less. If I'd like to cancel, the contract will be breached & I have to pay the "fines" for that. Oh myyy..... *sigh*

1) I'm having big issues as highlight in this thread after upgrading from Streamyx 4MB to Unifi 5.

I've change the DNS setting on the router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, somehow it improved especially in Surfing.
But I want a better solution, cos, it doesn't work everytime.

I tried to find the 7.15 firmware, not available.

2) Another thing, then I wanna view channels on the TV i press 100, after that, if I select channels...example 103, my LCD TV goes blank....I'm not using any Wifi or home plug whatever, the Setup is all wired, very close to the TV.
Sometimes ok, sometimes screen just goes blank after selecting channels.

3) Feel regret getting the Unifi5, yes, download speed has improved, but everything else is worst!

Thx

Hey thx...this Unifi 5 thing really is something.

I wonder if I am able to use my old and trusted wireless router instead of this Dlink stuff. I have always no luck with Dlink.

Anyway, thx, I've PM you my email

Just an update:

I think I solved mine by changing for WPA2/WPA to WPA only.

Try it...but remember your current Wifi password, because it will ask for it again after the setting change

for those who having problem with web page need to reload, facebook photo didnt load completely, try to change ur DNS FOR EACH DEVICE CONNECTED TO ROUTER to other dns such as google dns. Changing dns on the router didnt seem working fine for me. maybe there's a bug in the TM latest firmware, so changing it on the router didnt seem to fix it.

Maybe the speed not the same, the windows cannot cope with the new speed because it used to the streamyx's windows size and all that...

*sigh*

I had the same issue until I added the DNS server for IPV6. Now it is working very well. You can do two things:
1. Update the DNS for IPV6 in your router; or
2. Update the DNS for IPV6 in TCP settings of your computer.

Having said that, you should also update the IPV4 DNS settings as well. TM is using both IPV4 and IPV6 and their DNS servers are not reliable (the least I can say).. That is why you keep having these long waits in between..

Email me at: jameslfk@gmail.com if you are not sure as I tried to paste some pictures here and it looks like this feature is somehow limited.

The IPV6 DNS servers are Google's and are very reliable:
1. 2001:4860:4860::8888
2. 2001:4860:4860::8844

Good Luck.
