how much money are we talking about here? italian steeds are expensive. mid level italians might cost the same as an almost top range non-italian ones.

besides, i'm not a big fan of classic geometry or semi-compact. i prefer compact geo like giant and specialized. coz i'm compact sized

i didn't like compact frames before, but after i've owned one, i now appreciate its aesthetics

clarifications needed. SL4 is not suitable with the 303s firecrest? why is that so?

butthead already posted the link which explains it.

our normal rides and descents are usually safe on carbon clinchers. except genting descent, i doubt it. but, we can no longer go up genting, so no problem.

however advanced the carbon clinchers, stopping power is still not at par with alu rims. and some carbon rim n pads combo squeal when u brake.

by the way, have u ever looked at a rider's face when his carbon wheels hit a pothole?

Just curious if u guys ride carbon clincher currently or just alu clinchers?

Added on October 10, 2012, 9:09 pmFor me in my opinion, if wanted to buy full carbon wheel i rather buy a tubular carbon wheel instead of clincher as to avoid those heat issues but as we discussed few page before it sucks when tubs tire puncture... Sigh... decisions deicisions, is my lightweight-ness had effect on performace on carbon clincher?
*
i ride alu clinchers. previous wheelset was alu clinchers, new wheelset also alu clinchers. when i was in the process of deciding what i would buy, i did contemplate on getting a set of carbon clinchers. then i thought it would a hassle to change brake pads, since i would be using my old wheelset as well. so i moved on to carbon/alu wheels. ditched it, because carbon/alu wheels were too heavy, not worth the price. so finally,i chose normal alu clinchers

some of my friends have both tubs n clinchers. clinchers for normal ride n training. tubs are for their race days.

jus find a pair i like and i'll stick with it... my next adventure will be heading in velocity's direction.. want to try a pair of their A23 as opposed to HED Ardennes... i've been having a couple of mail conversations with the australia guys over the past couple of months and they can custom build a set to my requirements instead of their standard specs...i think it should be a worthy investment despite the quite steep pricing..

complete build? tax?

So you are currently using the like of FR0 or Ksyriums lor?

For me i was thinking saving up the carbon clincher &tubular combo wheel set for my second better bike rolleyes.gif For now i just stick with FR1.

if u have only one bike, u can only choose to have either wheels with carbon brake track or alu

SO, if i were u,

if i were to choose wheels with carbon brake track, i'd go with zipp 303 carbon clincher. or easton

if alu brake track, i'd be content with the FR1

complete built wheel... but they hand build them, so i can still make decisions on my spoke crossings...price creeps past RM2k on a set + shipping it will come near to RM2.5k...

tax, i have to assume it will be a surefire kena thing... better i prepare for it then to expect that i won't get taxed.. can't ask them to mark it as a gift..

dun be itchy lar miao... Ksyrium SL is enuf adi...
velocity has a lot of shops in aussie.. and i am not sure if they actually ship it by mail to inland officially? but one of my questions to them was whether if they could ship it to my friend so he can bring it back when he comes back to malaysia and they say it is possible...
*
haha... ok la i put some mopiko to cure the itch. eh u know ka how much they tax?
