QUOTE(brainpower @ Jul 26 2012, 12:15 AM) Thank you guys for the comforting words. the whole "if you're in my situation" is vague as hell. for starters, he probably wouldn't be in your situation, and even if he did, the solution he will prolly take would involved spending more, with perhaps alleviating the cost by selling the previous JBL. Also that JBL isnt really 3 way, just coaxial lol.Mywifecar. Let's just put aside first how much more that I want to throw into ICE. If your r in my situation now with this setup, what would u do to improvise the quality? Assuming the component speaker will help? But why this speaker will help as compare to the 3way spk? Hope someone can sharesomens info or reading material perhaps I don't know how to search. Secondly why do u say with a pair of twitter will make thing worse? Hope you can enlighten me. Or perhaps someone can provide some tips as guideline to newbie like me for future before jumping into this without much guide like me. For long term purpose for the sake of others benefit too. QUOTE(brainpower @ Jul 26 2012, 12:15 AM) Thank you guys for the comforting words. Maybe I read too quick, what car are you driving?Mywifecar. Thank you guys. Actually playing ICE need to have budget, or else very hard for people to make suggestion ... worst still, you will kena poison by the boss even worst! You have to know, since you are newbie, a tweeter can cost 1K per pair also. Not saying that adding a tweeter will make it worst, finding a match will be very hard (Almost impossible)... but hey, your ears are not mine. Having speakers at the back is really.... errrr....useless. When you driving, your ears are facing the front... You probably will hear more wind sound than the music. Like Krayden said (Albeit, you think he is being sarcastic), trade-in for the front comp. But I still need to know what car you drive, if Mywee .... You first time change ICE. of course you will like it....the deep bass. Also, you can see those uncles go crazy already~ This post has been edited by MyWifeCar: Jul 26 2012, 02:41 AM |

Aiyah, cranky uncle reporting in. (damnit become unker liaw).
Sorry la if you take offence. Everyday somebody come in AFTER buying brand so and so, THEN only ask good or not, what to do to improve. Want to improve, trade it in for something better la. If you MUST keep it then disconnect the tweeter cables in your 3way, use it only for bass and get proper component speakers. One thing MWC din mention about comps, they play better because each speaker can focus on a particular range of freq = better seperation. Where you can hear the vocals and instruments clearly. Not one speaker trying to play everything. STATING YOUR BUDGET IS IMPORTANT. Because tweeters range from rm50 to rm3k. Very hard for ppl to reco. |

Thank you everyone for these helpful info... Somehow, because I'm driving a very old Iswara aeroback, more than 12 years. That's why I don't really want to dump too much in to that car as who knows, when the car is going to fail on me?
So you guys still suggest to trade in the 3way and change to comp? Then the thing that where my speakers installed will have a big hole over there then? Hmm... Then when change to comp my car seat will be cut to install the speaker right? hmm...$$$ all come to my mind. Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. Guess I'll need to save up that money then only upgrade... By the way if upgrade to comp, how much will that cost? I read somewhere that you need to have amp to drive the comp properly? with amp coming in then you need to look at those electricity thingy bla bla bla.... Any sifus can explain a little? Budak baru belajar and very curious and want to learn more, hope all the sifus don't mind me asking too much. I do hope can compile all your information into a tread to share with others in future. |

Haha... Yea, i love the car. It just serve me well. However, having said the speaker doesn't sound right, I can't fully agree as it does sound OK to me when I play on MP3. Of course don't mention about the radio station which the original quality itself is a question mark.
So perhaps will save first for the comp to add in later. Would you suggest to add the comp speaker or totally leave the comp speaker only without the 6 x 9 3 way speaker. BTW Quazacolt, why do you say it's not a 3 way FFS? BTW again, what is FFS? |

Lol... FFS. I thought is Final Fantasy or something lol... Anyway, my concern now is i trade in the rear speaker, then the compartment that I mount the speaker will be empty and hollow so if i put a book or pillow it'll drop into the back trunk...
Second concern is if the speaker is taken away, then with Comp itself will it be able to procude base as well? Seriously, how many speakers are there in a comp set? As far as I understand there's only 1 pair, left and right, correct me if i'm wrong. So if with only one speaker, how does it reproduce a full range of audio frequency? Hope can get some sifus explanation. Thanks. |

Component set = mid bass + tweeter + crossover. You can use something to cover your rear deck if you want. For now it might be no use to you, but next time when you install a sub, the holes on the rear deck will allow the bass to enter the cabin. That's IF you decide to add a woofer in next time la.

Thanks. worse come to worse fiber glass works only (albeit expensive though lol) good component set bass is of no issue, however it wont ever match an actual passive boxed subwoofer component set is explained by nightstalker above |
