Well I have another 4s the wifi does intermittently grey out and hard reset did the trick once or twice after that it just went dead. Like they said its a known hardware problem.
I sent the 4s to switch service and got a replacement set within a week.

Try jailbreak and use SBSettings to turn on wifi?

Btw, 4S here. Updated to 6.1.2 last night. Don't see any problem yet. will see the battery usage until tonight.

Went to Apple authorised service center today, the answer I got is to either restore it with itunes ( which i tried numerous of times and still not working ), or replace the phone @ RM1000

Just get the the wifi chip replaced if the restore doesn't work. Most of the time wifi greyed out is related to hardware.

iphone 4s user please come in . Right now i am 5.1.1 , the only choice i can upgrade is 6.1 and 6.1.1 and 6.1.2

so , WHICH should i upgrade ? or should i just KEEP @ 5.1.1 ?

6.1.1

Fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability (iPhone 4S only).

6.1.2 -

reduced battery life

i heard iphone 4s hav 3G , battery and wifi problem after upgrade

should i just keep @ 5.1.1 ?

need ur serious advice guys

There is no way that you can upgrade to 6.1.2 or earlier version of iOS as Apple currently only signs iOS 6.1.3. Since you are now at iOS 5.1.1, it is advisable that you stay put unless you are not intending to Jailbreak. If you are not jailbreaking, just upgrade to iOS 6.1.3 as this version is the most stable of all iOS 6.X versions

if you need JB badly, wait for the latest version of iOS to be JBable and update it immediately before Apple issues a new update
