How to Check Your iMessage Feature

QUOTE(andrewyulm @ Feb 2 2012, 01:33 PM)
lol u guys need to read the previous posts, quite a few people have given their insight on the imessage
okay i try to recap what i can remember ya, but i might miss out some things, i advice you guys to read from the beginning or check the imessage thread, i think there is one

1. all numbers should have country code (imsg and also siri needs this)

2. under settings > message you need to turn your imsg on, let it load and configure. and if you never want it to be sent as sms, but only imsg, u turn off the function to send as sms. there is a function there, just check your message settings, u can turn off sending imsg as sms if it fails

3. you and the person ur sending the msg to needs ios5 and wifi/3g (basically internet) for the imsg to be sent through

4. when you choose your friend to send the msg to, let it load for a while, if its the first time ur sending an imsg to the person, it will take maybe 5seconds? never more than 5 seconds for me. so you open your msg, and let it load, if it turns to blue then your friend has imsg, if it doesnt load to blue, it means your friend doesn't have imsg.

5. if your friend has imsg but no data at the moment when you send the imsg to them, it will be still sent as imsg on your phone, when your friend gets data plan, he/she will receive the imsg.

6. if you have turned on your 'send as sms' function, then there's a possibility your imsg will be sent as sms if the imsg fails to send (happened to me only once, so i can't confirm if it is an ALWAYS thing)

i feel as if im missing out a bit of information la, so please do check out the relevant threads for more questions ya, i'm sure alot of your questions and tests, someone else has already done, so just need to rajin rajin find a bit hahaha  thumbup.gif

should i wait a few hours after the phone shut down at 0% then charge or just charge ?
any recommendation

Why u need to wait for 0%?

The best way to charge your battery is when it less then 20%. Dont wait it until reach 0% bcoz it will stress your battery and it may lead to material fatigue (resulting decrease battery life).

Its ok to happen few times but dont do it very often unless u r in emergency and dont have charger around u.smile.gif

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 29 2012, 02:29 PM)
It's not as rigid as that, as long as you have the habit of a full cycle every month, the battery will be fine.

Official: iPhone 5 to Be Announced August 7

Apple is largely expected to unveil the iPhone 5 in September or October, just as it did with the iPhone 4S last year. However, if the latest rumors are true, we might actually see it even sooner than that.

user posted image

The general belief is that Apple will announce the iPhone at its fall event. Though this event took place in early October last year, Apple has not yet confirmed any details for its 2012 fall event, so people are left to guess as to when it comes to the announcement of the iPhone 5. September seems the obvious month, since that is when Apple usually holds its iPod event, or October, since that's when the iPhone 4S was announced. But rumors doing the rounds today suggest that it could be as early as August.

According to a report over on Know Your Mobile, Apple is all set to announce the iPhone 5 on August 7. Previous rumors indicated that Apple may have brought the release date forward to August (from October), and now Know Your Mobile is citing "a reliable industry source who wishes to remain anonymous" that says the phone will debut during a keynote speech on August 7.

Other than that, there wasn't a whole lot else said about the iPhone 5, which is thought to represent quite a departure from the iPhone 4S in terms of design. It's not yet clear if this will be Apple's first 4G LTE iPhone, but it's likely, considering the iPad 3 launched with LTE earlier this year. Apple made no mention of a new iPhone at WWDC in June, but the company did announce iOS 6, the newest iteration of its mobile OS.

Confirmed! iPhone 5 Will Be Even Thinner

user posted image

They’ve done it again. The Wall Street Journal has more-or-less confirmed another rumor about the new iPhone.

In April, a KGI security analyst reported Apple’s next smartphone would use a brand new, cutting-edge technology to shave off a few millimeters. Ming-chi Kuo also made claims about the death of the 17-inch MacBook Pro. Apple silently laid the portly portable to rest during their 2012 WWDC keynote.

According to the Wall Street Journal piece, these screens are already being mass-produced by suppliers, and this time around they will be even thinner. According to “People Familiar With the Matter,” these slimmer screens are being supplied by Sharp, LG, and Japan Display Inc., a combination of three Japanese electronics makers.

The Journal confirms Kuo’s April report, saying these small screens will utilize “in-cell” technology, which builds the touch sensors right into the LCD panel. Currently, iPhone screens are built like a glass sandwich: backlight at the bottom, the colored pixels of the LCD display next, topped off with the capacitive touch screen and another layer of glass to protect the whole thing.

In-cell technology removes this final layer of protective glass, building the touch screen right onto the LCD panel. Using this technology could not only improve the overall quality of Apple’s already stellar Retina Display, it also improves their already efficient supply chain as they no longer have to buy touch panels and LCD panels from separate suppliers.

Though they normally make progressive moves to slim down their devices, Apple surprised many when they announced the new iPad would gain 0.03 inches on the previous iPad 2. It was widely assumed Apple did this to pack a larger battery in the device to power the Retina display and 4G radios.

The next iPhone is also rumored to be outfitted with a typically power hungry 4G radio. With this extra space they’ve gained from the in-cell technology, Apple could slim the device even further or put a slightly larger battery in the case.

While we won’t know for sure until Apple takes the stage, the same case which keeps showing up in videos from suppliers suggests Apple opted to throw away those spare millimeters.

According to the Wall Street Journal piece, LCD manufacturers such as LG and Sharp have been working on in-cell technology for several years now, and Apple’s iPhone has finally allowed them the opportunity to show off their latest innovations.

The Wall Street Journal has an impeccable track record when it comes to Apple rumors. Recently, they also reported Apple’s plans to release the mysterious 7-inch iPad.

In May, the Journal confirmed another long held rumor that the next iPhone would expand to 4-inches.

In tallying up the current score, the next iPhone is expected to launch this fall, be outfit with a 4-inch screen, be even slimmer than the current 0.37-inch thick iPhone 4S, and feature a brand new, 19-pin dock connector.

Just remember, “Fall” is only 3 months away. If Tim Cook’s “doubling-down” continues the way it has been, it’s likely we’ll continue to see many more rumors as more suppliers get involved in the building process.

Hey guys, I am thinking of getting the 4s via Maxis, since I learned that Iphone 5 will be changing it connector to a smaller version. This makes my current gadgets kinda obsolete.

In your opinion, should I make the change to 4s, or wait till 5?

Since it is so close to September or October, I suggest you wait for the next iPhone. If your phone is still usable, bear with it for a few months, unless the urge for an iPhone is too much for you to handle. Then maybe buy the 4s and sell it once the new one is out tongue.gif
