Hi all.  Want to ask for some advise.  Will get a 650cc bike soon.  Now I'm buying some apparel to wear when riding this bike.. Will get knock off jacket, gloves and helmet for free... Will use them for a while..

I want to buy a riding boot... Like the look of Puma V2 and V3 and also some SIDI boots...

Since I'm working in JB while my wife n kids are near Kajang, I will ride for 600km back and forth almost every week.

My question is, I have a budget around rm1k for the boot, I'm looking to use the boot for 5% track and 95% normal riding..

Please recommend me a suitable boot...

Thanks

Yeah right. Get the waterproof boots.

Im not promoting like mine SMX 5 water proof but with a little extra budget you can get both for race type with that Alpinestar. I think around USD250. Check with local dealer.
Ask Phobian about his SIDI

848 or 1098 model? I can’t differentiate except this is non S model.
Only certain year of SF 1098 production model came with red chassis frame. Street fighter is truly superb naked bike. rclxms.gif

Get the R model bro. You'll save from upgrading to aftermarket parts. If you always at SIC, there is 1 lady rider riding the R sweat.gif

No worry bro. Can always opt for the non R version. biggrin.gif
Mathematically, 20k is still very less than what you will pay in future upgrading.
No other bikes in the market that come close to Daytona R features except for some expensive liter bikes.
Other than the bike, you just need the best riding gears and voila… rclxms.gif

I rode before both model. And if im thinking of downgrading, these the only in my mind

a friend told me that the correct way to wear the knee pad is on the inside of your pants, not outside. the reason is if we do crash or slide, the pad won't twist or move around exposing our knee.
*
IMO, the knee guard can be wear outside on your jeans. The purpose is to protect your knee from the impact during crash.
Knee slider is for knee dragging. The only proper way for knee slider is with tight leather pants or full suit.

When thinking for knee drag, bear in mind you may low side. For abrasion during low side, leather protect your skin more than fabric pants.
For normal riding is still ok la if using knee guard but not for serious knee dragger

Just my opinion biggrin.gif

Guys need some advice,
I sent my bike for service this afternoon, and how careless of me because i didn't check the engine oil window right after he finished changing the oil..
I only realize when i got home that he had overfilled the engine oil..now my engine oil window is fully covered with oil and way above the F mark..
I read on the internet that this could cause damage to the engine, if so, how bad it could be?

I'm planning to drain the excess oil after the bike has cooled.. I only rode the bike for about 5km from the shop to my home..hopefully nothing bad will happen..
*
im not sure if this is the cause of the condensation i saw on your photo. Since when you notice?
But for sure you need not to dismantle your tank to access the air filter. Give a try and check the air filter.
If i were you, go back to the shop and ask them to drain the engine oil and refill. But not after you already run the engine. Normally engine will be a little heavy with extra engine oil

I say just suck up excess oil from the filler hole using a small vac pump

and engines are built for tolerances. So an extra 50 - 100ml of engine oil won't kill ur bike immediately.

Cheers

a damn embarassing moment for me yesterday.. was on my newly bought gears and so anxious for a good ride.

1st time on a full leather suit, 1st time on a racing boots. feel kinda awkward walking in the racing boots makes me walk like a robot sweat.gif

was fine pushing my bike out in the morning and manage to get it going. when i reach the stop at the traffic light outside my house, while trying to put both my feet down, my left boots just somehow ter-stuck on the footrest.. making me lose balance and fall on the left side while idle doh.gif damn malu.. i also dont know how i stuck the boots there.. maybe its a new pair of boots and i hardly feel anything on my foot rclxub.gif

managed to lift my bike up a little when one helpful guy came by with a shocked face thinking i was ran down and help me lift up the bike as well.. thanks to the helpful guy thou notworthy.gif

left mirror patah, fairings scratched deep at the bottom, and the fairing where the windshield is attached to also broken.. damage on wallet currently unknown, bike still in garage cry.gif sorry forget to snap some drills..

this is actually the 2nd time i dropped my bike on the left d damn.. 1st time was a kickstand fall over rclxub.gif

is it actually advisable to install frame sliders? it does protects ur fairings during idle drops, but read online that if crash impact is high, impact on the sliders might cause ur frame or even the engine at the points where they are mounted to be damaged.. what's ur thought on this?
*
No need to malu la. At least you are ok thumbup.gif
Unless you are having GP shift (reverse shift) on your gear, I dont think you can get your boot stuck. Means you are downshifting before you stop and by the time the bike stalled, your boot got stuck.
If you are using adjustable rear set, adjust it to suit your boots.

Sliders will help when your bike fall or slide. Sliders should be installed on chassis/frame, not mounted on the engine. Even without sliders, your engine or chassis may damaged on high impact crashed. For me, its better than nothing.

Look like you need new top cowling. Try spray or mudguard repair shop. Probably they can repair it (like re-fibre etc). Or try those who do airbrush job. Temporary, use can use mirror block off plate until you get the replacement side mirror.

i was downshifting to neutral and when i was about to lay my foot on ground, the heel of the boots somehow got stucked in between the gear and the foot pegs laugh.gif causing me to lean and lose balance and there goes..

haha im not using any adjustable rear set.. but after some riding and breaking in of the boots, finally felt ok and am more cautious so as not to let the heel got in between again tongue.gif

yeap but some recommended that its better not to install slider as it will damage ur frame/chassis during high impact crash.. and once ur frame and chassis is damaged, haha there's basically no way to rectify it anymore, no?

yeap they will re-fibre the top cowling and respray the whole front head.. quite a big scratch on my tinted windshield, hopefully just to re-tint it would do.. damn i didnt know OEM side mirrors dont come cheap.. US$60 for just one side rclxub.gif

actually another problem is with my helmet. reason why i put it up for sale is that i think im gonna just opt for an XL size. although L size gives me a really snug fit.. but if im in it for half hour and above, i can feel the pressure pain on the crown of my head (right above the ear). pain is getting more n more intense gradually and at some point of time i wont be able to focus on riding already, will keep adjusting the helmet but it wont do much help as well.

i tried to solve it by using a balaclava (im always on balaclava thou), fold up style to make it into like those inner cap balaclava (refer pic below) in order to cushion my crown area, but once i fold up my balaclava, it becomes too thick that even the helmet could not fit in anymore rclxub.gif so u know how snug is it laugh.gif

user posted image

apart from the pressure point on my crown area, the helmet is really really comfortable for the 1st half an hour.. after that gradually the pain starts to put in rclxub.gif

planning to resolve this issue into an XL size..

suddenly came up with this idea, what do u guys think if i add a small piece of sponge at the inner part of the helmet where it is causing the pressure point around my crown area? this is to cushion it to avoid it directly exerting pressure on my head.. is it advisable?

No idea, will need to try PCV and see whether it run smoother, the bike does not like to cruise on steady rpm, it sputters a little, I wonder if you feel the same? say constant 6k rpm...

I had the valve cover opened sometime ago, they checked the cam timing and while already in there, they also checked for valve clearance, shims was replaced and clearances at max tolerance..  sweat.gif
*
hmm.gif hmm.gif in normal cases, add on electronics are the culprit. So we took out everything to see if in standard mode, the engine will running smooth or otherwise.
Why don’t you just leave it to NAZA?

I hv about 400km before I clocked 30k mileage. So there is another 10k km to go before valve clearance and currently running very well without any problem.
As I remember, you don’t hv any error code or check engine triggered. Best try is OEM ECU. Also, check thoroughly your AIS ( mad.gif because you DIY lol..) and other thing you last done to your bike.
Let me know please. Just in case I upgrade to crossplane biggrin.gif

Ask you something, do you ever do throttle body sync? I read the service manual it has to be done every 10,000km I believe? how my bike jerks might have something to do with this, and other said it is running lean.

Yamaha has a very noisy engine, the right side noise I think it is the cam chain, or the hydraulic cam chain tensioner has worn out, contant tapping or just on cold start up? if it making noise on start up only for a few second and it go away you should have plenty of time. if it making constant noise then go check it out, this are interference engines, which means if the tensioner fails and the cam chain jump a tooth then the piston will say "hello" to the valve then BOOM! lol biggrin.gif

sweat.gif
*
In Doha, Yamaha is the worse. The dealer actually is a household supplier. So like you are going to supermarket and there is a section for motorbike lol
Other than general service, they hv incompetent mechanic in to diagnose any kind of mechanical or electrical problem. They are more on ATV only. So if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

You need valve clearance done and engine idling adjusted correctly before you can do throttle body sync. Im not letting my bike go to them to do it. My pokok ceri pomen is not that bad I just don’t want to mess around with unnecessary things

Monaz, does your bike have some kind of sound from the right side of the engine? Mine have some sound coming from there which makes me feel uncomfortable
Already asked 2 mechanics to hear it but they said it's normal..however i'm still worried and i have no friend using the same model as i am..
Read some thread in r1 forum and most of them had Cam Chain Tensioner issues but i can't be sure about mine..current mileage is 19k km..

I dont hv any strange sound on my bike. Cant really tell unless i really heard myself from your bike. My bike nearly 30k now

custom made helmet? do i need to go till that extent shocking.gif no money lehhh haahha..

by the way, im thinking of resolving this issue by changing to an XL helmet. well since the L size on my Xlite is really really snug.. i think i can opt for the XL one, it may be a tad loose but i believe it will still be snug, yet to try an XL to assure that there's no pressure point on my crown.

good thing is that Xlite produces its helmet in 3 different shell sizes, XS-S, M-L and XL-XXL. so the shell of my current L would be different from the XL. thus the pressure point might not be there anymore if i change to XL. goshhhh gotta spend additional money again icon_question.gif someone get my L size X802 C.Checa helmet pls haha

what do u guys think?

Unfortunately, im kepala kecik to wear L size biggrin.gif

So it is only on cold start or what? Sound quite loud to me. Open the throttle and listen or only when idle. Like T600 said, how your bike performance lately. Too early for valve adjustment
