Any Begonia (Particularly Rex Begonia) lovers here?
Was wondering where do you usually get your plants? I find it difficult to find a nursery that has plenty of Rex Begonia varieties hmm.gif

I have yet to see white varieties in any nursery I've visited, must be pretty rare hmm.gif
Purple and pink ones, on the other hand, are like everywhere  laugh.gif

Yes. Purple, pink, blue are common.

But yellow is rare. Had one before.

Many thanks for the information, I will keep an eye out for them too notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
I noticed that sometimes the plants sold in Tesco or other shopping malls tend to be cheaper than those in Nurseries (even those large ones in Sg. Buloh)

Sorry to hear that man, one thing I've learnt about Torennia is that they grow best when you don't take care of them sweat.gif

Any general insecticides to recommend?

Or household ingridient that could act as one.

Planting sunflower but some white insects are now causing the plants to wither and die.

Any photos of these "white-insects"?
Based on your description I think you are likely referring to mealybugs, a worldwide enemy of gardeners! mad.gif mad.gif

Most of the time we avoid using chemical insecticides if possible. One of the common methods that we can use is to mix some detergent with water and put the mixture into a spray bottle. You can try spraying the mixture onto the bugs themselves, or try to stream-spray them off the leaves hmm.gif

Mealybugs are always a headache to deal with, and have to be dealt with sooner than later because they reproduce quite quickly.

Sadly the plant died.
Was planting it for nearly 2 months too.
Hope this will teach me to do better with another 2 pots of sunflowers.

Any tips on planting carnation? The seeds is so tiny is it

Today I was meeting a client and then I came across this wholesale florist shop in the middle of a busy city in KL.

Forgot the road name but basically it's in Bangsar.

Any comments? Cheap or not the plats there? I love gardening but ever since moved to condo, really no grass to smell....

Anyone living in condo but know how to decorate their house with plants? please share with me here.. I'd like to learn and practice. thanks ah

I usually shop here on Penang island: C&O Nursery

Nice owner and pretty wide range of plants, pots and accessories laugh.gif
I love how most, if not all of the plants are labelled with their common/scientific names- easier for us beginners to read up more about the plants we purchase thumbup.gif

Hi guys, I would like to share my humble flat's balcony garden. I only get part sunlight depending on the month of the year.
I have minimal choices on what I can plant. So far these are the plants that I managed to grow and still experimenting.
Now I'm feeding them with fish fertilizer. Tried chicken manure, seems it's to heaty for the plants.

My balcony:

Rangoon Creepers: bought plant online

Timun Jepun: from seed - started to fruit

Might be Capsicum: from seed

Brown Habanero: from seed

There are 2 more pots which I seeded with pepper seeds.

Cucumber needs to be watered regularly. It's a problem for for when I'm away. I tried self watering using bottle but I'm not able to make it work. Maybe have to invest in the proper auto watering system.

yeah thats the problem. if we had a normal garden which gets rainfall i think will be much easier. but like this a bit susah. also the pollination a bit hard cause no bees or other insects flying around on my balcony hahaha. will need to self pollinate. i have some other flowers but half died and the other half doing so well dunno why... this weekend gonna remove the dead ones and shift the alive ones together. i guess can begin planting some other stuff in the leftover pots.

Yeah... i have to pollinate manually. So far it works. Some flowers require full sunlight. That's why your's died. I tried to grow sunflower at my balcony, it died after a week since bought it. My creepers plants are doing well. I had to trim it once a while. It blooms with more flowers after trimming. Now I'm trying to grow rangoon creepers.
