I think its easier to start with IAS+ then ASI . Say dagger with 1.5 aps + 11% IAS = 1.66 liao..then from there if you get stack ASI..it will x% of 1.66.

eg. dagger with IAS 11% x 10% ASI = 1.826

dagger normal x 21% ASI = 1.815


Thats what I think la...correct me if I am wrong.

Yup. I stack up on attack speed items. My axe has IAS which helps a lot too.

How to kill Ghom the fat fart??

I thought you already know? tonight we try? I am at keep level 3.

I stuck at the big fat fart now.
Any special way to kill it?

I used MoC(Overawe) and sailed smoothly until the fat fart.

Added on July 24, 2012, 6:01 pmpersonally, MoH because there are things you just cannot dodge. the on activation shield + boosted healing is good too if your effective health is high.

MoE has let me down in act2/3 too much to even bother it further usages. and my armor /resistance for the most part is in tuned on the 10:1 ratio with MoH, unless a barb steps in then my resistance shoots off the roof (1.6k from the top stats thread lol)

eg: once you got hooked by butcher and stun, you cannot dodge
you cant dodge belial's ground explosions (but you can block AFAIK)
cannot dodge azmodan's corpse rain and black ground thingy
cant dodge diablo's flames/fireball aftermath DOT/prison

also dodge is not 100%, after you're passed 60-70% mark it gets diminished so quickly it's hard to get any more without sacrificing your other stats (this is coming from me who had 2k+ dex before btw)

and its resist/armor scales from mine.

mind you my earth ally can face tank diablo's lightning breath while i barely could despite having the added ability to dodge/block its breath lol.

you can try going in 0 resist and have ur mystic ally sit on plague, while putting on maybe 1k resist and have it doing the same again

the biggest difference is that YOU can get outta plague, he cant. he's stupid lol.

and yes, earth ally is priceless when fighting elites as you can focus 1 down while he distract the rest. or provide additional distraction when you're kiting (so not all of them are together and banging down on your face)

highest armor reached was around 12-13k, resistance 1.6k as posted

however i can assure you that you do not need as much as evident by other monks.
in fact i am gearing up for offensive stats now and am toning down on my defensive gears/separate them for tank/dps sets

You had at least 50% HP most of the time.
Cow, how did you do it? Watching the video, your HP doesn't drain fast.
What's the trick? You have more AR, armor, LOH, life regen? Or a special combo of skills?
What's your AR, armor, LOH, life regen and skills?

Watching your video, you could cast you skill before the HP drained.
The skill was able to cool down in time.
For me, my HP drained before skills cool down.

Quaz maybe you can add the video of killing Ghom in the first post.

For me, whenever Ghom shake his butt, move out of the way. Use Keen Eye to be able to attack just outside of gas (use Shift to prevent jumping back to gas). Spam MoH to recover HP. Passive including Transcendence, Seize The Initiative, OWE. With base AR of ~880, and with those skill, my defense is quite high. But I dont have LoH, no / minimal regen. My armor was around 7k i believe.

Been travelling, have not login a few days... really miss farming

PS: HP ~ 25k, DPS ~ 24k

Noob monk here, what skill setup u guy use to farm at act 2 ? with 14.5k dps /33k hp 780 ar/ 8k def / 0 LOH full buff i cant stand up act 2 elite. My setup skill now
1. deadly reach/keen eye
2. Sweeping wind/ cyclone
3. Breath of Heaven / Pen. Flame
4. Earth ally
5. Mantra of Healing / BoI

Hope some sifu can give some tips

i lazy focus, buying legendary set pieces now mix matching for the build i want



anyways just did a farming run earlier on my monk on act 2, 5NV > kulle > belial. 1 hour 15mins or so. not too bad i think. only 2-3 deaths out of own carelessness.

buffed dmg on dps gear (still manage to retain 500+ all resist and about 6k armor, with shield around 600+ and 7k armor, no resistance/armor buff cuz all maximizing dmg XD):


enchantress got almost 2.6k int and 5.7k dmg btw
