Sony refusing hardware repairs on handsets with unlocked bootloaders
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/07/25/sony-...medium=facebook A number of users are reporting that Sony Mobile is refusing to repair handsets with hardware issues such as the yellow-tint display problem because their bootloader has been unlocked. Some customers who have sent in their handset to Sony have had them returned without repair due to the “illegal unlock” of their mobile. Whilst this is not the case in all regions, it does at least seem to affect those sending handsets to UK and Dutch Sony repair centres. |

Guys need some clarifications, appreciate if any sifus could help me...
Currently im using DIGI just voice plan.. Now i planned to get new phone at CELCOM, Sony Xperia S, ofcourse with data + voice plan... i have checked at CELCOM website and not clear about certain things, since first time planning for mobil internet... For Sony Xperia S , 2 plans as below... 1) EXEC plan they has 88/108/250...which already include (voice plan + mobil internet) Mobile internet plan the speed up to 3.6mbps , regardless volume 1GB/3GB/5GB as per their website.. 2) DATA + VOICE PPU plan they has 48/68/98 (celcom broadband + voice) Celcom broadband plan the speed varies based on the volume, even about that info i got to know from samsung tab package.. for sony they never mentioned the speed, i dont know why... http://www.celcom.com.my/smartphones/tablets.php#tablet1 48 - up to 700kbps 1.5GB 68 - up to 1.5mbps 4GB 98 - up to 3.6mbps... 6GB So i confused, why the mobil internet the speed standard and celcom broadband varies... Talking about internet usage in mobile, is via 3G right.. so mobile internet make sense.. How the celcom broadband connection will be linked to handphone ? personally i feel that (DATA+VOICE PPU) - RM98 6GB plan is worth... but i just dont know how it works... Sony provide the way to unlocked bootloaders and mentioned already it will void the warranty. Unlocked Bootloader it not for some beginners to thinker their devices. Sony expect only experienced ppl to unlocked bootloader not for some noobs. But for the warranty of yellow tint, Sony should give a replacement screen since yellow tint not related to unlocked bootloader. |

Well , software can affect the hardware to certain degree .And not fair for those who do not unlock their phone . If the service center need to entertain those who void their warranty , those who are not must queue behind of them when they fix those ass O 's phone . Its not the matter of the tint related to unlocking or not , its the principle and term and condition . Sony and XDA clearly stated unlock bootloader will VOID the warranty but those idiot don even know how to read . Ignorant is not a sin , but when they still want their warranty after they thrown it ....... I can only say FACE TOO THICK . |

I believe it's not related to software... If your board,cpu/GPU fried due to overclocking after unlocked bootloader... then don't claim the warranty since its confirm void already...And not fair for those who do not unlock their phone . QUOTE(Chee @ Jul 26 2012, 09:13 AM) If you do it unofficial way , and relock back yup the warranty still there . ( if they cant find out )Don think they will check that much when you send ur phone to service center in malaysia . Just relock and do full wipe before you send it . Just don unlock using official method as you obviously send ur IMEI to their database and officially void ur warranty . Wan to do illegal thing do it smartly . Those UK idiot face so thick . Already send their IMEI still dare ask for warranty . |
