go to APN settings, remove "proxy" IP address.

but its intermittent wo? not everyday or everytime will have it. just that if switch on/off mobile too frequent, one of out 10th it will become like this. showing "H" but actually no mobile network. haha...

but i will try your method see if it solves the issue.

edit: just checked. under digi internet access point right? my proxy is "not set". so its not the root cause lo? hopefully JB fixed this. ICS has improved/fixed some bugs but introduced new ones. LOL...

may i know our xperia S got this " proximity sensor" ???
*
All latest phone have it... if don't have it, when you make a call, you put phone near to your face, it's wont off the screen....

1st page have this
How to access Sony Xperia S service menu?
- Dial *#*#7378423#*#* from the dial keypad to enter service menu.

You can test the sensor there.

Not weird if your smile detection is set to small smile... maybe you father car rim look like smiling face....

or your focus is set to face recognition.... the rim/tyre is circle like a face.

xperia sl has higher clocked scorpion cpu, 1.7 ghz vs 1.5 ghz, bluetooth 3.0 vs 2.1, and sl come with ics out of box

other features include mass and dimension, battery, camera etc is the same, basically both xperia s and sl is a same phone

I think it's time for me to start saving for a new phone... my XPS use battery until have 30% in less than 20 hours.... I only make 1 call and a few SMS.

No time for me to check what is the causes... I rather use my precious time for OT... and that for a new phone.
