I can't tell which brand is better to buy because I've never seen most of it running before.

I can comment about the brand train that I have. My first train set was Tyco (which I think is no longer producing trains). Don't know how much it was bought for because my dad bought it. The second set that I have is Bachmann (As the one running in the picture). I bought this set for about RM500 after converting it to MYR. This model is nice, have no problem, but I like the Tyco one better because it uses a rare type of motor which is very silent. The tyco one is also more reallistic.

As mention earlier, the scale train that I have is HO scale (1/87 ratio), which I think is a nice scale to have (not too big and not too small). N scale ratio is 1/160 and the G scale ratio is about 1/23.

As for the train tracks, I have 3 different type. One is made out of brass, the other is made out of steel, and the third type is made out of Nickel Silver. The best choice to get is Nickel Silver, because so far, the Nickel Silver track that I have never got rusted, and it is much easier to clean comparing with the other type of tracks that I have.

There many brand to choose from, such as Life-Like, Model Power, Norscot. To me, I think any brand is about the same within the same price range.

I'm still around. But its too bad I sold off my train set. I feel like getting it back.

I dont know any model railroad shop in kl/selangor which is still around.
I think some forumers here mention about shops earler in this post, if I'm not mistaken.

I guess this is what you mean Power Ranger type crossover (although it's more like Transformers to me). I've looked in a few Parksons and MetroJaya in KL but not found. Haven't looked in Mid Valley yet. I just found out Litt Tak had warehouse sale 10-13 March sadly found out too late and I'm leaving Malaysia in a few weeks. I asked Litt Tak if it is available here, dunno if they will reply or not.

I know can get from eBay and also Japanese online store but shipping can be expensive for big items like that so if available here and is not too high markup is good. (It's not available in New Zealand or if it is it's only for a very high price although the Hypercity could appear some time in the future since it's still fairly new in the UK and things like that often take a while to come to NZ).

i oso have 2 set of starter kit for HO scale..but its back in the box..no space to setup the train..

1 set is HORNBY flying scotsman..another one is TRIX DB train set... and lots of extra cars,coaches.. ++ alot of tracks..

dont know where to setup the train..wish i could have a space just like u!..ahahaha

went to bangsar mall... hornby train set cheapest rm 999.... fine... dowan so expensive... go to jusco... saw takara tomy train set... but all japanese...

bought for rm 150.... went home... wtf !!!! its just a train station with one flexible track.. sob sob... when ask salesperson.. said yea full track with trains.... damn

now have to fork out few hundred for additional tracks and locomotive
if this is the case better i buy the rm 999 ???
