Lucky Google still has their well known kill switch for apps but what if the App did manage to steal your info before that? Food for thought even when downloading from GoogleApps (and a frightening thought if you think cracked apks are safe). Guess just have to be careful...

ok.. for me.. i need the data line and i have been with celcom for more than 10 years and it's ok for me to stick with there postpaid plan.. cause of their coverage here in sarawak.. so i go for there package to save few hundred on the phone.. but still final decision is on u

it really depends how much u can afford, how much do u use and where do u stay and how often u travel.

cz all these factors varies.

r u ok with umobile? if yes, take umobile RM28 plan.

otherwise, go with digi RM48 monthly plan.

if u want maxis, data only? then just buy phone from sellers with price @ around RM2k,

then subscribe their monthly RM48 plan via prepaid with 1GB quota.

it really depends on which telco u prefer and how much u can fork out monthly.

Celcom really sucks..

Telco plans are only good if your current bill with them is similar or closely similar to what they are offering. Like mine. My bill is so similar with one of the packages offered. So, taking up the plan/commitment was a non-issue. It was like purchasing the phone at a cheap price without changing anything on my bill. For cases like these, then go ahead. The phone really is much-most-way cheaper.

On the other hand, if you are one with a monthly commitment of RM30-RM50, or are on a low prepaid expenditure anyway, I feel no sense in suddenly paying RM100++ monthly which is way off your usual spending on your phone bill. It's not a lot. It's WAY A LOT.

Buying the phone at 2199 might seem hefty at first, but you can go as low as RM30 per month without any data (cause some people have wifi all the time). Which is saving a lot.

So, pick your own demons.

may i know if the umobile is roaming using celcom, will you still be able to using data? speed? as here in sarawak.. i think the umobile is depending on celcom network..

Just realised that my notification icon "i" on top status bar was set as slashed (/) or "off". Reset it to "on" and it's ok now. I never set it that way. What happened?

so far the connection has been good. good speed and coverage here in KL and Ipoh. i am always connected to Umobile3G. But i don't get 3g signal while i am on the highway (from KL to Ipoh and vice versa).

IMO, Rm28 for an unlimited plan (1gb quota) is very reasonable and not to mention it comes with 300 free SMS (200 to all networks, 100 to Umobile).

Opps i was connected to Wifi just now when i did the speedtest. Just did a retest and here are the results

D/L: 4919kbps , U/L: 1733kbps

but that's umobile 3g, right? had you ever connected to celcom roaming when it's out of umobile coverage?

nope never tried connecting to celcom network. it just switches to roaming when there's no Umobile3G. maybe i will try to connect to celcom network manually next time.
