HLB did not want to waive my GST for Mach CC which is coming on this 2nd June. So 88 Mach CC

Let me share with you my experience of using this card since June last year. The 10% 5% rebate they advertised actually works different that what you might think. The reason being, "All retail transactions will entitled 0.2% rebate" and that 0.2% is included in the 10%. Lets say you spend RM25 at cinema, you will get (RM25 x 9.8%) = RM2.45 rebate for cinema and RM0.05 rebate goes into retail transaction. So instead of getting RM2.50 (10%) and rounded up to RM3, you would only get RM2 after rounded down. Also, if your retail spending does not exceed RM500, you wouldn’t get any rebate for retail as the minimum rebate is RM1. So your cinema rebate of RM0.05 will also gone. I would say that Mach is a bit complicated for newcomers, but once you understand how it works, you can plan your spending so all the rebates will be rounded up.

You can wait until they are having 2x or 4x cash back. I applied mine when there was 4x cash back. All your cash back will be multiplied by 4, but to a max of RM100 of course.

For new applicant you will need to pay the GST first, then only get the GST rebated on the 3rd to 4th statement, provided you use the card for x times within x days. Need to check with HLB for more info.

HLB didn't mention about the GST waiver, usually newcomers will get the GST credited back if swipe a certain times within a period. Annual fee will be waived with a minimum 12 swipe per year.

I cancelled mine because HLB is notorious for not willing waive GST..so far also never heard of such a case before.

But I thought this promo started on 1st April? How come you got your card on March but were eligible for this promo? I am planning to reactivate this card since no GST anymore and AF waived with 12x swipes. But the RM100 cash back quota might be finished?

I think what he meant was you did swipe in April which is why you got the rebate.

Saw their leaflet mentioning that Starbucks is under dining category, but based on my experience using Wise card, it is not classified under dining for some reason. Anyone can clarify this?
