yeap yeap. i went to gourment market in siam paragon. supposedly we should be shopping upstairs, but i was WOW'ed when i saw it after trying to makan a bit at the food stalls there

walked  in, and it was just amazing. even bought some steak go back hotel and cooked! biggrin.gif

seriously, i hope penang got something like this, but too bad even KL don't have these kinds of supermarket

PS: HK's supermarket seems better than gourmnet market in siam paragon, but really makes me wonder, why a country like thailand can have this , but back in malaysia... sigh

Added on October 14, 2012, 12:23 pmoh ya...to add on, bangkok is really much better than KL in many ways

1) almost all of us feel bangkok is a much safer place than KL. walking at midnight feel safe, unlike in malaysia, sometimes u just feel uneasy at certain place
2) they freaking respect the zebra crossing. cars will slow down when u walk on it
3) meter taxi are so much easier to find than in KL. of course there are still some that doesn't used meter, but at least it's not some insane price like RM20 from Pavillion to KLCC at 7am sunday morning when there is no jam. We do went to china town taking a 7 seater taxi, paying only THB300 for it where the ride is almost an hour due to the traffic
4) Bangkok traffic is bad, as bad as KL if not worse. But their MTR and BTS is really amazing, and their skywalk is really really good. it links few stations together so that one can walk far under the roof

however, i am kinda disappointed with their food. it's not that they taste bad, but it's just taste so-so. Most of the food is kinda forgetful, and only Somboon is a better one. The street food at chinatown is also just meh, since it's so repetitive. I enjoy street food in Danok so much more. Maybe at bangkok, some of them see that we are not the locals, they will reduce the spiciness level on it? because seriously i don't find any of the food there spicy, most of them is just moderate level for me lolx

which somboon u went to?

i went the one further down of patpong market. The steam fish is over-steamed.

i went to the Bantadthong branch. I loved the steamed fish there, the chili crab however, although it's their speciality, but seems abit above average nia for me.

tried a few variation of padthai from a few restaurant and road side stalls
most are crap, especially those from restaurant
the best we had are from the Ampawa floating market, sold from the boat, ate at the shore
yum~~~

missed the BBQ squid there too, all are fat and juicy, tip in their chili sauce... oh~~ I'm in heaven

Oh ya ..tks for ur explanation .. rclxms.gif now planning my trip ..

QUOTE(cy97 @ Oct 14 2012, 02:24 PM)
Yup I m still in Bangkok n just move from best western plus soi 20 to best western soi 13 sukhimvit. Both nice. So far the best meals is shabu shabu Japanese buffet at 6th floor MBK really cheap only 315++ b for 1 1/4 hour of non stop eating. Now there is an asiatic river front shopping bazaar replacing the previous Suam lum n located not to far for saphan taksim bts. N free shutter boat is provided to bring u there. And Nataya begs are just too cheap n u can go central to buy. Basically Bangkok to me is relax walk eat shop !

Added on October 14, 2012, 2:28 pm
Basically sukhimvit is main road like Jalan and soi is like lorong branching out from the main road. Try google map n u will understand

Added on October 14, 2012, 2:31 pmAlso check out the brand new terminal 21 located next to asok bts. It is very well design with tonnes of Japanese restaurant.

Added on October 14, 2012, 2:39 pmMy favorite snack is still the bento squid seafood snack from 7/11
