guys, need some update of good and affordable hotel in bangkok, preferably near BTS and near sukhumvit/platinum mall area for ease of shopping

i already paid for my room and flight tix for my trip coming soon

flight tix cost me RM1676 (2 person)
room cost me RM1274.3 ( 5 nights )

most likely will spend RM3k there include food, drinks, tour and some shopping

anyone has had any experiences taking along dslr around the street/night market in bangkok? is it safe?

I'm going to Bangkok for 10D9N.My itinerary as below:
Day 1: 16/8/2012 (Thursday)
6pm-Arrived Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
7pm-Upon arrival at the airport, buy ticket at “Pattaya” counter located on Level 1 in front of Gate 8. (Roong Reuang Coach)
8pm-Depart to Pattaya.
10pm-Check in Hotel Selection Pattaya (Formerly The Pattaya Beach Resort)
11pm-Walk around the walking street.
12am-Back to hotel and sleep

Day 2: 17/8/2012 (Friday)
9am-Breakfast
11am-Royal Garden Plaza

  Ripley’s Infinity Maze
  Ripley’s Haunted Adventure

*I wanted to go for the River Cruise Chao Phraya, should put on which day ya?

Hi guys. I might be dropping by bangkok for two days. Will take an over night train from hat yai and reach bkk in the morning. Any suggestions what to do in day 1? Was thinking to go to a famous landmark and shopping mall and maybe china town in late afternoon. Not sure what to do at night though.

Next day will take a tour to the floating market and back to Malaysia.

What is the best way to get to town area (ie. Pratunam) from Don Muang Airport? Is it accessible via Airport Rail Link?

I'm going to BKK with a friend in 20-25 oct 2012 via AA. Main purpose is shopping & sight seeing. I know AA will land in Don Muang. I think Don Muang is at Sukhumvit area right? I'm looking for hotel nearby that area & near BTS. Short listed 2 hotels:
- On8 Sukhimvit
- legacy express Bangkok

As long as the hotels are near BTS then should be fine right? Are these 2 hotels ok? Any feedback?

Also, the JJ market only open in morning till afternoon on weekend? If I go around 5pm onwards, still open or not? Cos I'm scared very hot.

Hi all. I have a question. How do you take a taxi in BKK? Tell driver your destination first or just hop on the taxi THEN tell him your destination? I always tell my destination first then they will give me a price, without using the meter. Maybe I got all the expensive taxi because of the way I approached? Advices?

I am actually traveling to BKK end of this month, my budget for a hotel is around RM100~150-ish (2200 baht/night or cheaper if possible).

my main purpose of going BKK was to celebrate my cousin's stag party, until the group decided to ditch me, and now i'm traveling solo. So my criteria for the hotel has to be comfortable and with a swimming pool.

and this will be my 1st time going to BKK...any warnings/recommendations? as i went thru some past posts, seems like BKK is pretty crazy with all the scams and such
