What is the best way to get to town area (ie. Pratunam) from Don Muang Airport? Is it accessible via Airport Rail Link?

it seems only transport will be taxi.
If wanna budget, it will be take taxi to mochit station, its 14km away from don muang.
Then switch to BTS to Pratunam.

Would you guys recommend taking a train to Hua Lamphong > Metro to Phetchaburi (intercharge) > Ratchapraprop?

Can actually cab to Mochit then phayathai change into airport rail to ratchaprapop.

But why wanna carry your luggage around and change lines.

Taxi in bkk is really cheap. Can consider spending more for convenient sake. Able to arrive hotel earlier and less tiring biggrin.gif

Hi all ! smile.gif

I have been doing some research online for the Bangkok Chao Praya River Cruise but most of them are just based on their own website or other commercial ones. I was wondering if anyone here that could give advice on the cruises available there? Thank you biggrin.gif

The best cruise for me is joining the locals taking their river taxis  biggrin.gif

You mean the Chao Phraya express boat? The cheapest way to tour the river is by taking the public express boat. You also get to mingle with the locals!

MRT or Skytrain is nearer to chatuchak market?

Bts skytrain. Mo chit  station exit then take a fly over then walk 3 mins reach d. Suhkumvit line.
*
BTS Skytrain (Mochit Station) is about 3 mins away but MRT (Kamphaeng Phet) stops right INSIDE the market.

For the fastest mode to chatuchak market,

depends you are nearer to which line. Sukhumvit BTS line is more common areas of normally tourist stay.

Do consider Tango vibrant Living Place?

This is a budget boutique hotel situated in Pratunam area.
3 mins walk to pratunam wholesale market, 6 mins to Platinum Mall.

4 mins walk to Rachaprapop Airport link station, you just take one station to Phaya thai then switch to BTS (Sukhumvit Line)

I stayed here during March 2012, its around RM75++ include breakkie.

Another one is just opposite which is PR Living Place.

You can try U Baan Guesthouse. Very cheap and basic but very clean hostel. 5 mins walk to Wong Wian Yai BTS station. Away from all the busyness and tourist. 3 7-Eleven nearby and lots of food nearby. I've stayed there and I loved it.

Don't know what "affordable" means to you, but I enjoyed staying at Grand Diamond Plaza suites Hotel which is just on the left of Platinum Mall. Then to the right of Platinum Mall (in fact linked to the Mall) is the new Novotel. For a much cheaper option, around 300 metres across the overhead bridge from Platinum Mall is the First House Hotel. I stayed there twice and it is a very decent place for around RM100/room night. Once you step out of First House, it is already the Pratunam street market!

How far is First House to Platinum Mall? Walking distance ya?

Hi all,

I am trying to book my stay at Shangri-la Bangkok. May I know what is the best way to get cheaper room rates? Is it the cheapest if we book through their website online?

Thanks a lot

Hello all,
I'm going to BKK with a friend in 20-25 oct 2012 via AA. Main purpose is shopping & sight seeing. I know AA will land in Don Muang. I think Don Muang is at Sukhumvit area right? I'm looking for hotel nearby that area & near BTS. Short listed 2 hotels:
- On8 Sukhimvit
- legacy express Bangkok

As long as the hotels are near BTS then should be fine right? Are these 2 hotels ok? Any feedback?

Also, the JJ market only open in morning till afternoon on weekend? If I go around 5pm onwards, still open or not? Cos I'm scared very hot.

Anyone can recommend authentic Thai foods restaurants in bangkok?

Preferably accessible by BTS/MRT or within walking distance from train stations.

Reasonably priced too.

Hi all. I have a question. How do you take a taxi in BKK? Tell driver your destination first or just hop on the taxi THEN tell him your destination? I always tell my destination first then they will give me a price, without using the meter. Maybe I got all the expensive taxi because of the way I approached? Advices?

Thanks in advance.

Flag the cab, tell destination. If he take, i will say by meter.. if he refuse then no go.

So far didnt encounter got scammed by taxi.

a few times, i try not to take a cab but in BKK taxi is cheap. Furthermore its convenient if in hurry or trying to save time.
