Hi there,

Anyone stayed at the below hotel before? How is it?

1) All Seasons Bangkok Siam
2) Ecotel
3) First House Hotel
4) Pratunam Pavilion

Im looking for a Triple Room (without the need of adding extra bed) coz we will each have 1 big & 1 small luggage..Dont want the room to be too packed....

Appreciate your help as my previous trip were all staying at normal Double Bed hotel room biggrin.gif

Thanksss!!!

Don't know what "affordable" means to you, but I enjoyed staying at Grand Diamond Plaza suites Hotel which is just on the left of Platinum Mall. Then to the right of Platinum Mall (in fact linked to the Mall) is the new Novotel. For a much cheaper option, around 300 metres across the overhead bridge from Platinum Mall is the First House Hotel. I stayed there twice and it is a very decent place for around RM100/room night. Once you step out of First House, it is already the Pratunam street market!

How far is First House to Platinum Mall? Walking distance ya?

Pratunam market open very early. Last time the hotel staff told me around 7am can go d. But I went ther around 8:30 like that. They close around 11am. Then later outside the market will open another market frm late afternoon till late evening.

Not sure about jj market but I was told also open early morning around 8 to 9.
*
Thanks. But Pratunam opens on weekdays right? only Chatuchak open on weekends, is it ?

The another market outside Pratunam, is it selling clothes too?

THanks man! biggrin.gif

Pratunam wholesale market is more for retailers or small shop owners to get their stocks. Not really for normal consumers.

Some shops there will only give u discount of I buy more than 3 pieces from them. Else no...

Some even allow u to buy any clothing from them. Some require to buy 3 same design in order to get discount.

Jj market normal market like our pasar Malam. Normally jj market vendor might get their stock frm Pratunam wholesale market smile.gif
*
Oh i see. thanks for ur info. Then I think platinum mall may be more suitable instead of Pratunam right? but as what i remember, some shops in platinum mall will also give wholesale price as long as we buy 2-3 pieces & above... biggrin.gif

Is a far cry from Platinum, but if you have not been there no harm to check it out, to me is about the same as Platinum but much smaller scale than

Chatuchak aka JJ is great. After a good walk around and sweat you may want to try cool yourself at JJ Mall (aircond) and a cup of coffee at coffee mood and got free wifi
*
hmm yea since pratunam is just opposite of platinum right? is it walking distance? JJ and Chatuchak is the same or different? I have been to Chatuchak...is JJ the same?

QUOTE(mugenz @ Sep 17 2012, 10:37 PM)
Ya. Some shops in the mall operate such way. They got notice there. Well for the market it's also good to visit as some allow u to mix then get really good discount / price...

i dont take beef hence beef noodle i wont try hehehe...but padthai for sure i will try..!! hehehe...

the tomyam clear base type? haha ok thanks for recommending..

i will be there for 5 days 4 nights..hope is enough for shopping!! whole trip gonna be shopping & visit temple only...river cruise etc already went before during previous trip hence save the time....

Warning, drinks is not cheap but worth it biggrin.gif
*
haha yea definitely wont be cheap due to the environment & scenic view...its already in my list..hahaha

JJ Mall is a 4 storey building and is nearby and sell almost the same thing.
*

what is your budget per nite?

i would suggest u to stay in BAIYOKE SUITE, execuitve suite room, which is big enough for u to accomodate even 20 big bags
*
i have booked pratunam pavilion already smile.gif thanks hehe biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Penangkaki @ Sep 19 2012, 04:37 PM)
"Pratunam" is just the name of an area in Bangkok. Platinum Shopping Mall is in Pratunam.

Pratunam means Watergate BTW. Pratu=door, nam=water. Hence you see some reference in this area to watergate such as the Amari Watergate Hotel.
*
What i mean is "Pratunam Market" smile.gif thanks~!

its actually 1 of beaches of Koh Larn, which is ard 45min boat ride from Pattaya. the water is quite clear so u can do snorkeling or juz lie down n relax there, good as a daytrip from the mainland.

I'm going to Bkk & Ayutthaya on 20-25 oct. hope the flood already over lah. Am worried abt the flood situation.

Another thing is, I want to ask abt withdrawing cash from Cimb Thai. I have a savings account here & want to know whether got any charges if we withdraw in Cimb Thai. I read that it is free, but not sure if really free or got hidden charges. Can anyone pls explain to me? Thanks!
*
for CIMB no charges..but not syre the rate...i use UOB to withdraw..rate is good biggrin.gif im going on 26-30 sept hehe..

QUOTE(mugenz @ Sep 20 2012, 12:46 AM)
i cant remember what was the difference between i change here and withdraw using cimb.

I only remember is not really very bad rate.. still acceptable for emergency withdraw.

Most also for security purposes if dont want to carry that amount of money with u all the time. Worth paying for the difference for the sake of security*

Depends how much u bringing also~ lol~
*
UOB have good rate tongue.gif

QUOTE(sugarbaby @ Sep 20 2012, 01:05 AM)
I'm also thinking how much to bring there cos I plan to shop a lot at platinum mall & JJ weekend market. Hope my bargaining skills are good lar smile.gif

during my visit it was raining on and off for few hours daily
mixture of heavy & light rain, but hardly any sun, as it's cloudy when it's not raining
my advice? bring a foldable umbrella or raincoat
when it's heavy rain, even walking on the BTS skywalk aren't safe from the rain, still get my jean half soaked doh.gif

on Sunday from our tour back from Ampawa, one of the highway was flooded slightly less than knee deep
but luckily our tour van still can brave the flood and managed to get home safely
*
i really hope the weather gets better next week onwards..raining then quite troublesome when going for market like chatuchak or pratunam market....

thanks for reminding, will bring foldable umbrella just in case...

hows ur shopping there?
