Thanks. And I don't mind getting ultrabooks as long as there is minimum 500GB space, 2usb ports and a built in dvd drive.
Are there any more ultrabooks with such specs?  laugh.gif
*
Ermm... ultrabooks does not have built in dvd drive sweat.gif

1. Preferred Brand : Vaio, Dell, Hp (anything with good warranty)
2. Budget: Below 3k
3. Usage: School work, games like the sims 3 (with good graphics), watching movies.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14" or 13" (is 15" ok for portability?

Thank you!

Sims 3 is not exactly very graphic demanding sweat.gif
Bigger screen will have heavier weight.

Can try these:

Dell

These are 14" laptops. For 13", it is more expensive and not suitable for gaming. Same goes with Sony Vaio series sweat.gif

It there any 15" screen? Because prefer bigger screen.
*
Its true that there is the heat issue regarding the Lenovo Y480 but that doesn't stop people from buying it anyway tongue.gif
You can get a cooling fan if it helps smile.gif

Asus N56VZ is 15".

Another 15" laptop you can consider:

Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M@RM2799, 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional

The rest with better GPU exceeds your budget sweat.gif

1. Preferred Brand:Any brand except Acer
2. Budget:Around rm4k
3. Usage:Office use,for long battery life,and light weight.light gaming LeagueOfLegends
4. Preferred laptop/screen size:14~17 inch

i5-i7 also not really matters.any laptops is 3k,(which is really recommend to upgrade ssd) and add on SSD 256gb which reach rm 4k.??
*
14"-17"? Since light weight is required, 14" maybe? hmm.gif
You're usage does not require strong raw processing power so i3/i5 will suffice smile.gif

Can try these:

Toshiba Satellite L840-1026X/XR/XW, i5-3210M + AMD HD7670M@RM2399[2.12kg], 4GB, 640GB, W7HP; colors: Black/Red/White, 3 years warranty

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430, i5-3210M + Intel HD4000@RM2799[2.2kg], W7P, 4GB, 750GB (5400rpm), anti-glare

I'm not sure on the price for SSD. But I think you can get a 256GB SSD with these laptop.

14" laptops are usually around that weight sweat.gif unless you're looking at ultrabooks.
Ultrabooks are more towards 13" and some have SSD in them already.
I'm not sure on that. Some prefer to have SSD and HDD for storage, that is if you're not using the optic drive at all smile.gif
This does not apply to ultrabooks as most of them don't have optic drives.

If you're okay with 13" ultrabooks with SSD in them, can try these:

Asus [Ultrabook] UX31A-R4005V, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 128GB SSD + (1920 x 1080)@RM3499[1.3kg], 4GB, W7HP

If not, 14" is the only way sweat.gif

Spec wise - It's not as good as A45VM. The spec is rather old.

As for the price, is it final at RM2k? If it is, its better to take A45VM for newer technology smile.gif
Maybe you can squeeze out some freebies from him? tongue.gif

HI guys. I suddenly have a feeling Dell 15R SE may not live up to my need. I am not an avid gamer but would need to have Dota 2 played at full fps high settings without sudden spikes etc. But im not sure whether 15R SE can deliver that.

So looking for another 15.6 inch laptop with gpu GT650M ? And below 2.5k budget ? IS there any ? If not need to opt for Y480.

Why would you have that feeling? hmm.gif
Dota 2 is not exactly graphic demanding. The AMD HD7730M is more than enough to play at high settings.
Spikes in game are due to internet connection usually.
