Hi Sifu's, going to pure Tokyo next week...

Thanks.

Staying at Citadines Shinjuku.

Pure Tokyo Itinerary:

I think you will have plenty of spare time from this itinerary. You can actually rearrange ur itinerary & combine some near places into 1 day, so that you wont waste ur time in going back to the same area again. I think you will have extra 1 day if you rearrange ur iti.
Since this is ur Pure Tokyo trip, what about Roppongi district? Ryougoku area - Edo-Tokyo Museum & Sumo Tournament? or a day trip to Nikko / Kamakura?

artman make sure ur tsukiji visit is not on wednesday cos it close on wed

n tokyo sifu sekalian

i plan to go odaiba from shinjuku

wanna ask izzit best to take water bus from asakusa to odaiba on the trip to odaiba (day time) or when i leaving odaiba to asakusa (night time)

n then from shinjuku to odaiba,
(JR Saikyo Line) - Osaki -(Rinkai Line) - Tokyo Teleport
if i holding jr pass, i only need to pay for the rinkai line am i correct?
*
It depends on where u plan to go aound asakusa & odaiba. both ways are fine. if u wan to sightsee tokyo city, then take the normal cruise from asakusa, hamariku,...odaiba.

Yes, Rinkai is not covered under JR.

i dont know those sites specifically as I started to digest everything since yesterday..i mean 2 days planning for 6 days trips..
will not giving good plan..haha..1k for hotel is that for 2 person or only me myself? thinking to grab mixed dorm for budget bed
*
still consider cheap for ur return flight ticket of 700+, mine is around 650.
It depends on what u wanted to see and experience.
For my own trip (10days cover osaka, nara, kyoto, hakone & tokyo), it cost me about 4.5k excl. air tix, because i go for jr pass that cost about RM1,132. Exclude JR, it's about rm3,300 for hotel and other expenses including meals, transportations & admission fee. cool2.gif

QUOTE(merci @ Oct 13 2012, 10:11 PM)
Hi All,
I'm a silent reader here. Gland a lot of sifus here.
Need your suggestions:
I'll be traveling to Osaka end of this month for 6 days  and not really prepared itinerary. My rough itinerary:

Osaka:
Will be arriving in the morning, hotel can only check-in at 3 pm, so plan to
-go to rinku as it's nearer to KIX
- will check-in hotel after 3 pm.Hotel in Umeda
-not sure, either to castle or Namba/Dotonbori

2nd day:
- osaka castle
-aquarium
-
3rd day
- Kyoto
-kinkakuji
-nishiki marker
-kiyomizudera
- gion

4th day
USJ

5th day
- no plan yet

Dear Sifus, can you comment my itinerary and suggest other interesting places to visit.

-Which is better to buy Kansai free pass or Osaka free pass.

Thanks
*
There are some alternatives, one of that is, if Rinku is just for you to hang around while waiting for ur hotel check in, u can leave ur luggage at that hotel first then start ur journey. Since u reach in the morning, I guess is about 9(for AA), u can get the Haruka & ICOCA package. By looking at ur plan, any pass just not worth it, unless u tweak ur itinerary.
For your first day, u may visit Osaka castle and one of the temple in Osaka, Shintennoji temple or Sumiyoshi taisha. Leave Dotonbori in the evening/night as the neon light start light up, nicer view.
For second day, besides Aquarium, Osaka bay have more to see, you may check it out. Other suggestions for the day would be shinsekai shopping street, umeda.
Why not u move ur usj to the following date? Then only go for Kyoto and I suggest Nara and Fushimi Inari to be put in ur itinerary. In Kyoto, it's more to use bus and walk around. Kyoto have more to see, other than the above, Ginkakuji... U can start ur journey early in the morning to Kinkakuji, then hoop in to a bus to Ginkakuji, philosopher's path is up to u, from there u can walk down to south, will pass nanzenji temple which is worth for a visit. Then kiyomizudera. Nishiki market hav to go before 5pm. Gion is best in the evening.

Where are u intends to stay for the trip? It's all depends on ur convenient. IMHO, stay 2 nights in Kyoto for ur Kyoto n Nara trip. You would enjoy it more.
Just my humble opinion.

Hi guys, due to limited time, I plan to only making a day trip to Hakone from Shinjuku in mid-November. What is the earliest time to go there from Shinjuku to enjoy the beauty scene the most, probably Mt. Fuji view? And from my reading, I find these two alternatives of going there:

1) take train to Odawara from Shinjuku @ 850 yen and buy Hakone free pass @ 3900 yen at Odawara Station to Hakone.
2) buy Hakone free pass @ 5,000 yen at Shinjuku Station straight to Hakone.

Which one is better, not only in terms of pricing but other factore as well? Tq.
*
Day trip is ok, it would be better if overnight to enjoy onsen over there. Since you have limited time, no choice, but you wont regret it.

For your question, do you heading back to Tokyo after Hakone?
If so, Hakone freepass included your return trip as well.
If not, then you may just get ur pass at odawara.

Are you a JR holder?
If yes, get a JR train to Odawara & buy the cheaper pass.

Odakyu Line earliest is 5.30am. Before you heading to Hakone, you may check the weather at http://www.hakone.or.jp/english/

hi osaka sifu
i will have a day visit to osaka, wanna ask opinion
after finish visit the osaka castle around 3-4pm, i have some time slot unti night time
for that time, should i go to
Umeda Sky Building or
Shinsekai and Kuromon Market?

for night time i plan to visit shinsaibashi and dotomburi
*
Do you like shopping street? If yes, do Shinsekai and you will have the view of Tsutenkaku Tower as well.
Kuromon market is near namba/Dotonbori, you may walk through it if you stop at Namba station.

If you like architecture & city view, Umeda Sky Building. Besides the building, you can shop in the osaka station city as well or Tenjinbashi-Suji Shopping Street which is near to Umeda. But i don think you have enuf time for both.
jz my 2 cents, other sifus may suggest otherwise.

Thanks Sifu!.

ETA in KIX is 6 am as I'm flying with MAS. I plan to go to USJ either on thursday or friday because only that 2 days it will open till 9 pm, other days only until 6/7pm.

Where can i get Haruka & ICOCA package? OSAKA free pas also not worth?
In kyoto, I plan to take the 500 yen bus pass so that can cover whole Kyoto town. Unfortunatey, won't sleep in Kyoto 'coz I book all the nights in Osaka-Umeda. Lazy to check-in/check out.

Thanks again.
*
You can get the package at Kansai Airport Station. Pls do check the condition of the package here, http://www.jr-odekake.net/en/icoca-haruka/

haha..understand. Guess will have to go these two place on consecutive days before weekend arrives.

anyway, i saw there is hakone freepass and fuji hakone pass? wonder what's the major difference? any idea which one can have better view of mt fuji?

http://www.odakyu.jp/english/freepass/index.html
*
Hakone free pass offer unlimited ride on 7 transportations in Hakone area while Fuji Hakone pass covered transportation from between Shinjuku, Lake Kawaguchiko and Hakone. Of course, Lake kawaguchiko would be the one offer better and more stunning mt fuji view due to proximity. Lake kawaguchiko is more commercialise. Hakone is more adventure & interesting. If you have spare time, or 1 and half / 2 days there, you would have enuf time to visit both. From kawaguchiko, you can get up to 5th station of mt fuji or even hiking at mt fuji, different experience of Mt Fuji.

i tot kuromon market is nearer to shinsekai? i checked google map last time

meanwhile, is 4-6pm a good time to visit kuromon market? what time they closed?

for shopping, i am staying near to shinsaibashi, there are alot things to see n shop there am i right?
i can read chinese words, hope tat helps me hehe

actually umeda sky building is requested by my frens
for me, i feel abit redundant cos i am going to tokyo few days after osaka visit and i plan to visit tokyo metropolitan government building in shinjuku and roppongi skydeck , will have a visit to skytree but not sure will go up or not (cos i read tripadvisor, to go up need to que 2 hours for ticket sweat.gif)

so if i going to visit other sky high building, should i skip umeda?

thanks all sifu
*
correct me if im wrong, you're referring to the Black Market (Kuromon Market) right? it actual location is near Nipponbashi, where it also a walking distance from namba & dotonbori. You may refer to the link below,
http://www.kuromon.com/
http://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Attraction_R...ture_Kinki.html

for shopping, yeah, shinsaibashi, dotonbori & namba have a lot to shop, to eat & to see.

for me, i'll skip it. You will have a chance to go up to roppongi skydesk in tokyo, that is the best observation desk (for city view), further more, tokyo metropolitan gov building ann tokyo skytree, another best view desk could satisfy you i guess. For skytree, you can actually get the advance tix to avoid the long q.

meanwhile i would like to ask, is it a good time to visit kuromon market and nishiki market (kyoto) at 5-7pm?
most of the shop will be closed am i right

for dotonburi area, what is the time do the shop close? 9pm?
*
for nishiki market, best timing is 9am-5pm.
no worries for dotonbori, some shops open 24 hrs. A place where it's best seen at night. they called it "never truly closes".

Most of the shops are close if you go to kuromon market around 5-7pm. As you already know, it is a Market, so it is best if you go there in the morning.

I got lost in kuromon market while searching for dotombori around 5pm, most of the shops closes there but there will be some shops open but a lot of them are in the midst of closing already.

The time closing for shops in dotombori varies. You still can see shops open around 9pm, but i advice to go there around 7-8pm.

Lots of restaurant there for you to pick for dinner. I tried eating ramen there at a store which has a giant dragon head (There's 2 ramen store which got giant dragon head, which is a totally different store btw.) and the ramen was quite nice.

I tell you, if you want to walk from kuromon -> dotombori -> shinsaibaishi -> namba, 1 night is not enough. Namba itself is big,  And near kuromon market if i'm not wrong, there's a street called american street which I wanted to go to but don't have time.
*
Yeah, 1 night cannot visit all of that la. mayb u can try by RUN. sweat.gif
haha, it called Kinryu Ramen.
Do u mean Amerikamura, so called Ame-mura? Thats in Shinsaibashi.
Recommend route for you since u stay at shinsaibashi (if u want to walk), shinsaibaishi > dotombori -> kuromon > Namba, then u can take Subway Midosuji back to Shinsaibashi, or otherwise.

Tokyo--->Osaka----> Hokkaido then back to Tokyo ?!!? shocking.gif

do you actually check how long will you need to spend on train travel??

I roughly list down the estimate time travel on train, (via Nozomi, Hayate & Ltd Exp Super Hakucho)
<Tokyo> 153mins <Osaka> 153 mins <Tokyo> 217mins <Aomori> 126 mins <Hakodate> 126 mins <Aomori> 217 mins <Tokyo>

992 mins...16.5 hours!
