the first 2 floors are open for all, when you try to go up to third floor, you will see some notice on the floor and above your head saying ladies are not permitted to enter.

haha, will google map the building and put inside my map tongue.gif

on the souvenir, i saw the price tags inside most photos (blogs/forums) are like so expensive..for example the box at hakone selling for Yen 2000 at least....so my question here, can we bargain at the shops along the streets? like mongkok ladies street, can bargain kaw kaw
*
I would say no. Their prices are standard one, wherever you go, their price is the same. Based on my experience, for your case Hakone item, I saw a box of biscuit selling 1050 yen at Yumoto, then when i reach hakone-machi, owakudani, odawara, or even tokyo shinjuku, asakusa and tokyo skytree, price is same.
The only 1 place where their price is cheaper about 100 yen is at Kansai Airport's waiting hall.
For souvenirs i suggest you buy at Harajuku's Takeshi-dori or Asakusa's Nakamise-dori and since you go Ueno, Ameyoko as well.
You also can buy a small vibrator for only 500yen at Akihabara for your friend. thumbup.gif

Actually not really standard, if unlucky like me, can kena chop .... first biscuit shop i saw in Asakusa from subway was very traditional and nicely decorated, staff at back was making fresh biscuits too... front of shop was old man. I asked for best seller and bought 1 packet for 1300 yen !

When further into asakusa, turned out people selling similar looking ones at 1/3 the price !!

Probably standard price is the nicely prepacked commercial looking ones, careful only the traditional simple packed ones.
*
oh.. I see. I think yes, the one I mentioned is well-packed one and good looking. If you buying biscuit/cake as souvenir, pls check the expiry date, it's short.

Accomodation able to get a special price for 2 nights..another 2 nights not yet book, but estimate RM160-180/night

First night staying at First cabin @ haneda airport..capsule experience  biggrin.gif For future reference by others, they dont even need CC details for reservation. Strange.

Meals very very rough estimation..sekali enter tsukiji RM100 for sushi meal, Disney RM50 for noodle  sweat.gif

At Disney, i ate the Burger set (similar to McChicken), 750yen only. laugh.gif

How u buy the tickets? The queue long or not? Their website says Tembo Deck 350m price 2,000 yen while
Tembo Galleria 450m price is 1,000 yen. Which wan better view?
*
I queue 30mins only on a weekday. I went at evening, so I can enjoy evening sunset view n night view. If you dun care the fare, go galleria, tempo deck is very crowded, especially during night. If it is full, try to wait behind Japanese ppl, dun queue behind china tourist, they will Base there for long time, no courtesy at all.
Or you may go down one level, view point also, with testing area and table.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will follow ur timing and go during weekday evening. But can I just enter tembo galleria for 1000 yen and skip tembo deck? Or is it compulsory to enter tembo deck first for 2000 yen and then top up 1000 yen for galleria? Hopefully now no more China tourist since now they quarreling over the islands  tongue.gif
*
haha.. cannot. Galleria ticket only available at tempo deck and you have to buy from there.
Try to go around 1 and half hour before sunset as u need time to queue. Actually, if u wan to take nice pic, bring a small tripod/monopod, dun worry the staffs there are very busy and they wont see u when crowded. brows.gif

I'm planning to take the Fuji Hakone Pass go there 2D1N. Just wondering which way is better for the round trip? Go Kawaguchi 1st or Hakone 1st?
*
Actually, if you have 2d1n, both ways are fine. Maybe you should google the hotel first then make you decision. If you stay at Lake kawaguchiko, omg, excellent view of Mt Fuji from your room and onsen room. thumbup.gif One of the decent hotel is Tominoko Hotel, or you may choose other hotel around that area. You can also take cable car to Mt Tenjo to have a clear view of mt fuji.
If you go Fuji first, then be sure you start your next day journey early as you need 2-3 hours to Gora by Bus. If you go back to shinjuku after fuji, dont bring too much baggage. shakehead.gif You can leave it at your hotel if you extend your stay with them after you come back from fuji.
If you go on weekday, should be ok as there will be less tourist, so you can place your baggage next to your seat. Weekend, no.

Last time I went to Yokohama Landmark Tower. Those ppl already park their tripods and DSLR aim at Mt Fuji before sunset. Looks like I have to go SkyTree earlier cause sun sets earlier during winter

yes, sunset at 4 something...

I messed up my itinerary. Now I've only got 1.5 days, the Fuji Hakone Pass still doable? Cos bought tickets to Museum Ghibli 12pm. After that 2pm terus go Kawaguchi. But scared reach there late di. Any comments sifu?
*
QUOTE(e-jump @ Jan 11 2013, 02:37 PM)
it'll be late of coz if u depart at 2 pm, coz u forgot to factor sun sets before 6pm (sun position japan is like 2hrs in advance to malaysia despite 1 hr gmt difference)
*
Huh? after 2pm head to lake kawaguchiko already dark. My suggest is if you really want to enjoy the Fuji scene, just pick one of them. If you try to squeeze them into a tight schedule, you are troubling your goodself. Let's say u reach kawaguchi at 5pm, stay a night, next morning enjoy Fuji View, then move to Hakone. Just overnight at kawaguchiko such a waste. From there move to Hakone need 2-3 hours. Reach Hakone in the afternoon, says 1pm, then you only have 3 hour to spend before the sky turns dark.

Hi all, am working on a budget for a 10d/9n trip to japan for 2 (Osaka -> Kyoto -> Tokyo):

Meals for 2 per day: Average RM300
Hotel : Average RM400 per nite
Local Transport + Sights: RM1400 for the whole trip

Comes to about RM9.5k for 2... doable? hmm.gif

not inclusive airtix
*
haha.... your duration same as my past visit. Yes, it is doable. I only spent about RM4k per pax (exclude shopping)
Meal is not that expensive la.. and hotel, RM400 is quite ok. Pls buy JR Pass & SUICA for tokyo and please do consider some local day pass as supplement.

you should know better when you did more research, maybe you may consider kansai thru pass. hmm.gif
for kyoto, dont only depends on bus, best combine with 1 or 2 train/subway travel if possible, to save time.

Heh maybe I should have gone for tour instead of free & easy for April honeymoon sakura trip. Already booked the air tickets and hotels, but I got no time to plan any other details since like almost all free time is spent arranging wedding @_@ ...

9 days trip, flying to Osaka (3nights), Kyoto (2nights), Tokyo (3nights), hehe.
*
your flight is to and fro Kansai? if yes, just do kansai trip lor. More to see ma...
Kyoto need more days, but it is near to osaka. So, you may choose a base. Nara, as mentioned above, a day trip will do. Kobe if you wan to see more, you can do 2 days trip. You can go Koyasan as well. Then the rest at Osaka. 9 days should covered Kansai area well if you plan well.

beware of strong wind there. if you wan to take nice photo at Odaiba seaside park, remember to bring your tripod. You'll see a lot of photographer shooting at there too, especially during sunset. The view is superb!
