sorry I thought you got a pc speaker

what brand/model is your HT amp?

you will need a digital to analog audio converter to make use of TV's audio output

ive received the 42LM6700 yesterday evening, so far very satisfied with it. setup was kinda slow as theres many features! using wifi

i plugged my HTPC (DVI) to HDMI4, at default, it shows overscan (desktop bigger than the screen) and even the mouse was slow (i guess this is the input lag?). have to change the input name to PC to get a very nice full screen. and the mouse 'speed' is back to normal. this was before the firmeware update to 4.xxxx. after 4.xxx its the same.

i dont have any other HDMI devices at the moment, so will not be able to see if the input lag is significant (b4 or after the latest firmware). i play PC games more than consoles (i only have a Wii, and a Xbox 1st gen, both non-HDMI: havent tried any of them yet).

i ve got some sample 3d (half left/right) played thru the HTPC (8800GT) and it came out very nice (just select 3d option on the LG to left-right). the glasses are simple, as its passive. so anything goes wrong, replacements are cheap.

next htpc upgrade is to get a 1.4a GPU (7850/560Ti) to try 3d gaming maybe?

I bought a Samsung UA40D5500 Smart TV last year. Quite satisfied with it until i realized its actually small and not big enough for my viewing. Now i think after some research i want to upgrade to 47LM6700 or 47LM7600. But im not really sure if its really worth it or not. I dont want to be in the same place and want to upgrade again next year. Can go bankrupt if like this. sad.gif

Everyone who got LM series is impressed of its Audio. So slim yet audio so clear , loud, and plenty of adjustment to tune. It's one of its best features. Honest!

I should have gotten a LM series then doh.gif Because the sound quality of LS series is simply OMG doh.gif Initially i was looking at LM6700 but i didn't think it was worth paying a couple bucks more then as LM6700 series did not get a favorable review from CNET.

By the way, was yours a LM6200, LM6700, LM7600, LM8600 or LM9600 ?

Two Samsung OLED went missing on their way to Berlin IFA. No actual review has come out on whose OLED is better.

Mine is LM6700. It may not get top score review @ CNET but it got high scOre in other specialist critics or expert reviewer.

Yes, there were comparison of concept of OLED TV by both Koreans made , but expert gave high points to LG. Let me locate the article or link.

I did play with the setting of LM6700 at a local show room and I did notice all the problems CNET mentioned. Even my LS4600 has more or less the same problem... Well, more actually.

I wasn't just looking at LM6700 series but Samsung Series 6 as well as both models are of the lowest end of their high-end models for this year. Both models have glossy screen but somehow, LG's reflects more light. Picture quality and black level wise, Samsung Series 6 seems to perform better (black level still lacks behind previous years' Series 6 models though) but this year's Series 6 is is missing the ultra clear panel which is a major downgrade from all the previous Series 6 models.

Anyway, of all HDTV reviewers out there, CNET is the most credible and their reviews are always used as a gauge to compare HDTV offered by various manufacturers.

As a matter of fact, LG OLED was actually picked by CNET as the best LG OLED they have seen so far. That was back in January this year of course. However, they also suggest that the Samsung OLED they saw is a prototype and it was way too early to tell who makes better OLED. Besides, Samsung Executives were keeping mum and weren't giving much info. Until OLED HDTV from both companies hit the shelf, it's way too early to tell as CNET suggested smile.gif

By the way, OLED HD display was originally a SONY technology but they have since decided not to continue with that and will focus on a total new technology dubbed Crystal LED. That is something to watch out too biggrin.gif

eh no its terrible. Its just pure treble. No bass at all. But the default setting for audio was really bad till u set it as vivid. btw eh where got so many adjustments. Main ones are just the equalizer.

http://www.lg.com/my/home-audio-systems/lg-NB3520A

to compensate. So far so good. Panasonic has a better soundbar but just wanted everything to work with simplylink.

Using this when watching astro.

Mine has both bass and treble setting but both are useless. You can hardly notice the difference even after I set both to the maximum doh.gif

My previous TV wasn't a LG. When you suddenly switch to this TV, you really can notice the subpar sound coming out from this TV doh.gif And I went back to the showroom last night where I bought my LS4600 LED TV and played with a few different TV sets. And the sound quality of LM6700 is not much better than my LS4600. If you play it with LG demo video, the sound is all clear and loud. But if you use it to watch Astro Beyond SD or HD channel, or DVD, it is not so nice anymore. The difference is really noticeable if you compare it to a SONY or Samsung LED TV (which I did).

Anyway, may I know how much did you buy this soundbar for ?

I had Samsung 5 lcd series but sound quality lacks the punch of LM6700. Really. LM has more tuning. Btw, I tested also LS series at showroom but it lacks the LM sound in comparison as it plays back to back. Maybe other factor of open space & interferences to be taken into consideration. The boss also agreed.

Anyway, I only watch Astro beyond va TV speaker otherwise all via AV system . Even I adjust Beyond to Digital Audio. Anyway, each source need tweaks & as said its default audio is kinda below par. So I bet the showroom u went to has adjusted on Bluray player but no adjustment on source from Astro Beyond.

But I kinda agree with u that other LG models such as subpar audio but not LG LM series. I bought my dad LG 42 " LCD TV last year model has poor audio indeed.

Again, I'm impressed with its audio as its a slim TV yet it produce unexpectedly good sound. It's way better than my Samsung LCD 5 series model & my dads LG.

Check this out,
http://www.televisioninfo.com/content/LG-4...eview/Audio.htm

Btw, it can also adjust 3d surround for 3d movies. I Donno if it works as I watch my 3 D via AV system.
One can also tweak the sound system as if it's wall mounted, stand and one other. This 3 adjustment gave 3 very distinguish sound, really.

Compare to LS series review of same reviewer
http://www.televisioninfo.com/content/LG-4...eview/Audio.htm

Extract From this following site
http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lg-lcd...g-55lm7600.html

Sound Quality
(There are two nice upgrade features in the audio area – a sound optimizer to help sound quality based on the position of the TV, walls, and stands is the first. The second is the Clear Voice II function which enhances the voices of characters on-screen over the normal range and background.

I was very impressed with the sound output. After going through the Online Menu to You Tube and dialing up U2's Electric Storm, I found it necessary to dial the volume all the way down to 10 (out of 100) due to the strong audio output. The speakers on this TV aren't bad at all.)

again dunno what u mean by it being good.

I test all my encodes for SOX, LFE especially on AAC encodes.
On my ipad with my headset i get to hear everything. On the LG nada except in DD5.1 with my HT system.

Thats the reason y my first few encodes i didnt find the Overnormalization fault. This is why i was pissed with the LG. Had to reencode and found out when i listen it on the ipad i found the problem. Overnormalization aka white noise.

My comparison is my pioneer XG 42. I know its not slim but that 6 year old tv default speakers to the LM6700 was like a super downgrade.

Btw good audio sources ure suppose to hear it as it was recorded. The voice control etc serves no purpose for me other han distorting audio source.

btw my arguement abt it being bad is not comparing with other the slim tv or even using slim tv to lg benefit. its from what i hear to what i had tells me its bad.

Gosh...we were comparing on TV speaker. Not other external audio speaker etc. likewise its advisable to get sound bar if one needed better audio or sound of real 5.1 or 2.1 or whatsoever. For me it works fine as a STEREO speaker. Of course which flat tv gave super boost bass?

Oops. Will explain this step by step.

Ok i do encoding from true source normally TrueHD or DTS-MA core. The encodes i do a itunes based so its a AAC-LC stereo and Dolby Digital II.

What i meant was i was always testing my encodes on the TV via HT on dolby digital 5.1 before i do releases.
Releases mean releases my encodes to the public. The way i do encodes was to break each channel to single wave and mux them with a spectogram and normalize each wave on it. Would this for AC3 pass-through which is dolby digital 5.1. The AAC is encoded from the high source AC3. The encode would later reduce the bitrate to comply with 384bit for AC3.

What happen recently there was a issue with overnormalization on the AAC which i normally tested on the tv stereo. I couldnt hear it until i tested it out on my ipad with headphones.

Thats how bad this tv is on stereo.

Didnt have this issue with stock speakers from my Pioneer Plasma PDP-428-XG.Currently on stereo this is my default tv for testing instead of the LG.

Hence what i meant how bad the speakers are. I tested on multiple wave on muxed into stereo encodes with normalization. It doesnt pickup a lot of the lower end part of the spectogram.

Those reviewers i doubt even went this far and i only did it to troubleshoot the white noise issue with my encoding.

Encodes were done from pure blu-ray sources for my appletv.

And what i was saying it doesnt matter whether its a flat tv etc. Think Miles is in the same opinion as me. U buy a tv u dont short change with speakers. Do whatever tech u have to make it work. In that regards this is a failure for me.

Its the samething u buy a 1mm thin glass phone like iron man in the future and has all the features but u cant hear the other person talk clearly. Will u let the manufacturer say oh its a thin glass type use a headphone etc?? Its a phone the basic stuff is the mic and speakers should always be excellent regardless of size.

Same thing with tv. Regardless of size the basic function of a tv which is video and audio must be good together.
