Going to Japan in a week for 10 days, should I update to CM10 as my daily driver? Kinda worried it will break down halfway across my trip

using gb...just have one usb cable so never tried different one..but i tried insert my mcard into other phone and connected it to pc, can be detected

By the way after all the ROM hoping, I feel cm9 very nice.
Hope to stay in this ROM for long term.

Had bad luck with Sammy ROM and aokp previously.
Cm9 feels and looks very similar to stock android on nexus

flash now and test for 1 week.. for me, last time when i went on trip, ICS just came out.. i just stick with 1 and test few days the function i think i'll be using during the trip, e.g. camera, video, maps..

once satisfied, ok lor.. else, nandroid back to ICS..

as different a android device from one another,is rooting a stock ics rom without needing to flash custom rom possible?

My phone is totally dead now.
I9100G, CM9.
Just now I planned to flash CM9 stable, so I backup everything by using TB. When it finished I left the phone connected to PC. (Didn't perform update or ANYTHING yet!)
When I came back, I saw the phone screen black and the menu and back key light up. It just hangs!!
I pressed the power button for more than 10 seconds but the phone does not reboot.
So I put out the battery.
And now it's dead now.
Cannot enter Download Mode, Recovery Mode, or anything else. Just can't turn on. The screen is black!
Plug the battery to the charger also nothing comes out.
Odin cannot detect my phone.
I think it's the hardware problem...
Any solutions you guys can recommend?

These days so bad luck 1... Last few Friday my phone plug to the PC and it hangs, then after reset IMEI lost.
Now, also Friday, when my phone is totally DEAD!!

Feel like going to bring this phone to Samsung Center already, and see how much will the blood sucker charges... I'm sure my warranty is 200% void already.

5 months of age of my phone, only...

whaaaaat....so you did a TB backup, while your phone was connected to the PC, left it, come back, phone dead?? I dont see the cause ,seriously. So even the Galaxy s2 wording doesnt come??

I guess before sending it on to them you should try a USB jig. Shouldnt be expensive, and if it gets you to download mode, you are good to go.

i tried PA 1.97a yes its smooth.. but nandro back to 1.6.. for me still need much to do to make it more for everyday use..waiting for next release see how..

Yeah i heard it too.. s2 will get jellyB by the end this year, after Gnote.. dont ask me for sos i saw this at xda if not mistaken the sos come from samobile twiter..i dont realy giv a dam bout it

Ya I know it sounds impossible, but this is really what the phone happens.
What should I do after entering download mode? Flash stock ROM?

flash any rom with odin..

I think it's not easy to get a USB jig at my area, so I think I will do this:

Ask for USB jig at the phone stalls > Samsung Center > Went to normal phone shop and repair > Put the phone into my drawer (if everything fails) > Ban myself for using smartphone for 2 years ++...

I'm running on cm9. When I flash horsepower kernel, my cm9 version will change to an older one, not the one I flashed. Any idea why this is happening?

Battery is the common issue for my condition.
But I remember before the phong hangs there are 50% of battery... Too strange if the battery with only 8 months old (checked the manufactured date, December) spoil suddenly...

Btw, will ask the phone stall to check this out. I don't have extra battery...

Not yet mate... Will try to rescue my phone. Will report back if things becomes better.

May I ask, what should I do if Samsung really charge me RM500++?

your phone still warranty right? if u cannot turn on means probably they also cannot turn on so they won't know if u voided warranty. just tell them the phone died while updating through kies. . but of cos check the battery first before sending to samsung.

Yaya... The phone, battery and box have same IMEI. I am also thinking the same thing lol...
