2nd hand phone is not that bad.

i'd take a 2nd hand non g than a brand new g any day.

when gf wana buy phone, i helped her look for a 2nd hand non g.
now she is so happy with it.

mine and hers now exactly same. no performance difference.

imagine the horror if i told her to get a g version.
before ICS arrive, g version lots of issues.
now issue is fixed i think with ics.

but if you insist get new phone, but nexus la. cheaper also.

*fun fact: S2g seems to be the only phone with its own dedicated thread on how to root and unbrick phone, and its active even till this day.

hm...i'm confuse....

why your s2 value suddenly drop in your eyes?
just because it may not get android jelly bean?

till today, i feel my phone is special, it cost a bomb, and i saved long time for it.
especially after upgrade to ics, feels even nicer.

its already very good, and only reason i will change, is that it has hardware problem.
example GPS doesn work anymore, camera spoil, unable to call etc...

if every android release also need to change phone,
then you really become a droid-sheep. letting google & phone manufacturers suck your money.

in neat rom page in XDA,
got a mod that suppose to make the contact tab appear in the dailer app.

guess what? after i flash that app, both my dailer and contact icon disappear. no longer able to make calls.

I was thinking the exact same thing last week.
galaxy nexus seems tempting with the new OS.

but then doing some research and survey, i'll stick with S2.

i'll answer your question on why you should stick with S2.

1. battery, nexus battery life is quite bad. the HD screen, but with just 100mah larger battery is not enough.
look at gsm arena battery life test, endurance rating, S2 (40hour) vs nexus (31hour),

look at browsing time, s2 can browse 4hour24mins vs nexus 3hour1min.
S2 video play back 8hours, nexus 6 hours.

2. camera, nexus has 0 shutter lag, can snap 10+ photo a second maybe, but the camera quality is quite bad.
not to say nexus has a terrible camera, but the S2 one is noticeably better

scale to 5mp and check yourself to see, S2 one can read the words at the ruler, nexus one become blur d.

3. memory. nexus only got 16GB, user available maybe just 12GB i think.
do a few cwm backup, maybe take 2GB each, one titanium backup also maybe 1-2GB. songs maybe 5GB, GPS maps maybe 1GB. installed apps 2GB. tada, noo more space. even if you cut down on songs, you still wont have enough space to transfer a movie inside to watch, whats the point of HD amoled if cant watch show? sure USB otg can help, but its really trouble some, based on experience. also, having cwm backup on the phone gives a safe feeling, anything screw up can straight restore. S2 can support memory card, buy a 32GB class 6 one, just cost rm125 only. now maybe cheaper.

these are the 3 solid reasons why i choose to stick with S2 in the end.

yours is a rare case la. its not that buggy.
this phone g or non g also very smooth one.

you say laggy and buggy, must be something wrong already.
flash a new official firmware using odin.
start fresh, sure no problem one. :-)

tried CM9 today, really no idea what developers thinking when they add vibration to lock screen and unlock.

waste battery and totally uncomfortable. cant find a way to off it, google also cant find anyway. got a fix in xda but involve using scripts.

gave up and look for AOKP, but surprisingly they dont have S2 in their latest milestone. i mean like WTH? they support lame low end phone but not S2? mind boggling.....

its been a very long time since i tried aokp and aosp.

want check see got any improvement or not.
will download this resurrection remix when free.

was using neat rom LPG,

i upgrade to neat lite LPS.
everything was quite similar, not really big difference,
what i really like is the siyah kernal and external tweaks, can set more cpu steps and should save battery.

was thinking to settle down on this rom but strangely LPS dont have swipe status bar to control brightness. so so sad....and confusing, why remove this feature?

so use cwm app want to restore to previous LPG one, then saw can choose what to restore, usually i just choose all. but this time i try something different, i untick kernal.

so it restore everything of the old rom except the kernal.
now i'm so happy using back neat LPG with siyah kernal.

didn't know cwm can choose what to restore, never tried it before this.

now i know can really mix and match rom parts, cool.

i'm looking for battery icon mods,

hope to find something blueish, and has battery percentage on it.
the circle battery, or the one in CM9 is quite good.

where can i find them for ics?
please recommend if you know, thanks :-)

i use camera ics, its an app, i feel its faster abit at launching, and easy to use UI.
there is no shutter animation,so it tends to feel abit fast, but in reality its the same speed.
best of app this app no shutter sound.

oh ya, the snap button is very big.
