Thinking of flashing this lp9 u mention

How to check what modem is being used
And where to download modem?

Compatible with any rom?

found DXLP9 modem here. i never flash modem before, is it safe for all roms?
it says in the thread cwm flashable. is there anything else need to know?
would like some confirmation before i flash it. worried...

just started using siyah kernal few days ago.

when i check battary usage in settings, there is always only
Screen
voice calls
cell standby
phone idle.

it no longer shows which apps is using how many %,
not even android OS and android core system, really just the above 4 things only appear.

whats goin on? normal for siyah kernal?
can make them show back for all apps?

these are the things i've changed in extweaks.
1. max cpu set to 1000MHz
2. min cpu set to 100MHz
3. Usb default set to mass storage
4. disable android logger

everything else remains default.

no way man, i on ttpod and play song for half hour,
use chrome to online 10mins +

usually stuff like android OS, messaging, browser, chrome sure appear inside already

its LPS based, when i tried LPS of neat rom, they dun have swipe status bar for brightness control, wanam one got? any wanam users can confirm this for me please?
edit: oh nvm, just saw in wanam thread, sammy remove it from LPS, such a STUPID STUPID move, why remove features that are useful and already there. foolishness

speaking of BBS,after using siyah, the task manager there under storage, got start battery monitor

if i press, got a task manager icon appear at status bar.
is that built in bbs? it says for developer use only.

saw this in paranoid rom instruction.

i prefer directly slide from status bar, no need bring it down and swipe.
anyway, now hopping between roms checking which is good.

currently on paranoid. i dont like the tablet UI, too freaky.
even though i set everything to phone UI dpi, but the settings page and some areas are still very small.

can a sifu here give me some explaination about kernals?

custom kernals suppose to help save battery life by having more frequency steps. default one from deepsleep->200->500->800->1000->1200
custom one can set to have more steps.

custom kernals also can undervolt.

siyah one seems to be most famous, but i tried it and it mess up the battery usage settings. no idea why but it does that. did several cwm restore and tried flash siyah using odin and cwm but still same. once on siyah, the battery usage monitor dont work anymore.

are there any other kernal as good as siyah?
i think litepro got one for his litening rom,
checkrom got dark knight kernal,
i also heard of fluxxi here, but that is not for samsung rom?

did i do something wrong with siyah? or all custom kernal will cause battery monitor not working?

i think its your hardware button spoil lo.
the OS dont affect the button one.

if really spoil, flash paranoid rom,
got option for onscreen button. not bad actually.

i just tried the PA 1.6a yesterday.

quite ok and fun. everything smooth and nice.
but i dont really like that rom cos the super small font at settings.
so return back to sammy rom.

anyway, you can do cwm backup and restore one ma.
if not satisfied, restore back. no harm. go ahead and flash la.
never try never know.

walauweh....

found a new feature in sensation rom.
i dont think it was advertise in the xda page,

but if i press home button 4 times, it will auto invert the screen color.
so useful if reading webpage, i like black background and white text, good for screen battery also.

try and see your rom got this feature or not. maybe is built in to all samsung roms.

These phone repairs especially screens, cos very high. Its really not worth to repair. Spend abit more on a new one.

Also, repaired stuff don't last long based on my experience. Especially phone. Cos they don't use the original parts. Even if the do, all the opening, soldering etc may cause further long term damage.

siyah kernal is awesome!

i manage to get my keyboard working with the USB OTG cable.
this makes typing so much faster

this is not possible on stock kernal and dark knight kernal.

by the way i'm using sensation rom currently too.
like in any samsung roms, when you use USB OTG to plug pendrive,
it will appear in
/mnt/sdcard/usbstorage

use file manager of your choice to find it

yup, perfectly normal.
thats the behaviour of the camera.

another fun fact, video auto focus only works in 1080 and 720p,
any lower res, wont have auto focus when recording. no idea why also.

Swipe status bar brightness not working in this version. Its like a downgrade


Stick with lpg.

Try sensation or neat rom.
Both also cn use jkay

I prefer sensation cos camera no shutter sound.

Neat rom after delete volume sounds from system still got focus sound.

if you dont silent your phone, when snap pic, during focus, will have a beep sound.

sensation and neat very similar.
the only minor difference is camera completely silent, dailer looks more stylish.
it has extra aosp gallery app, other than that, same as neat rom.

in other words, sensation got more stuff than neat rom. enough to make me switch.
but if you dun mind the small difference mentioned above, no harm stick with neat rom.

no difference if you are using digi.
call quality sucks big time in KL area currently. especially bad since last 2 weeks.
signal bar full, but always talk half way cant hear already.


switch to DXLP9 but still same. its a digi issue.
