Lol. Blizzard give us sharpshooter to use rite, not for display purpose right ? Lolz. Or maybe i miss the word "For Display Purpose Only" in the skills description..

I think what he meant is, the DPS shown with sharpshooter is too fake and not realistic at all. How long can you maintain 100% critical rate? 1 seconds and then another 30seconds of recharging later?

I do personally agree with this. No point showing the DPS with sharpshooter on as it's totally not realistic and sometimes even, not reliable. Best to show DPS with SS disabled for most accurate result...

Sharpshooter is very very good, but it has a bad reputation cos it tends to inflates displayed dps.
Its very good the best for opening aoe burst, but thats not all.

The bonus crit ticks start at 0 sec, so you get that 3% crit chance for free, and if youre a skeptic that the bonus benefits you for 1 sec only, thats already 6% crit chance.
Ppl says that its effects diminish by the more crit chance you have, but hey, guess what.Sharpshooter is a BONUS to crit chance.
The so called big diminishing returns only applies for the bonus per sec aspect of the skill, but NOT sharphooter as a crit chance entirely.
Crit chance also have diminishing returns(albeit a smaller percentage), yet you crank it up all the same.Why? Because its a source of dmg and its stupid not to grab it just because you get less increments.

I facepalm at those ppl who are looking to amp up their crit yet still look at sharphooter like its AIDS when they are basically the same thing.

Sharpshooter provides a nice buffer for ppl before they hit up a reasonable crit chance with their gear, but if you look at the glass half full, its a free 6% crit chance, and at a 300% crit dmg, thats 12% dps.

And I always saw "can I ditch sharphooter with my current crit chance" threads, but to be frankly speaking with higher crit chance, you can have a shorter wait time window between burst.
Its all about perspective.

This DPS with the items which I posted , getting another 1H xbow ..should hit 90k-100k without SS I guess.

I have to agree with nightshade and deaththecannon.... Blizzard created that skill for a purpose and im sure many people are using it. Depends on individual preference. If people wants to show off their dps let them be. As long as those people can finish the game who cares if he uses Sharp shooter or not.

True. But when the base crit chance is enough to sustain, sometimes there are alternatives to look at, as compared to the bonus critical chance. Skills like Night Stalker become interesting again at this point.

But unarguably, I agree with you that SS does help to increase the critical occuring rate regardless of base critical chance

Nice DPS there. Struggling to increase my DPS too but it feels like, kinda not worth at all. Any upgrades will cost me a bomb

In a way true, but lets not forget that many of our attacks hit multiple times. NT, BL, Cluster Arrow etc etc. I crit every single time I use any of these attacks, as they hit multiple times (NT still hits everything it passes through, just not multiple times per mob). Thus, SS will almost never give me more than 6% crit chance at any given moment except when walking around and looking for champ packs to bully. 43% Crit Chance. I rather use that passive slot for Grenadier, allowing me to use one extra Cluster Arrow for really good burst. 3 Cluster Arrows > 2 Cluster Arrows that crit. I crit with every Cluster Arrow (w/ Cluster Bombs) anyway. SharpShooter does not increase my damage at all in practice. Only when single targetting with Hungering Arrow do I not crit that often. But when going after champs, big burst is what matters in Inferno. I rather crit for 200k+ multiple times on all 3 mobs, 3 times in a row.

Glass canon build is not the way DH should go already... Once PVP come out your gears are useless ... Unless u can kill opponent with 2 or 3 hits ....now my DH can tank better than my barb with Shadow power gloom rune ( weapon with life per hits + life steal )

Hahaha~well guys, after 5months I back to this thread, everything has been changed so MUCH ..hehehe !

from my point of view (personal opinion), Glass canon is suitable for farming in normal inferno level (MP0/1/2) specially with co-op.. In a solo mode, it can be done in a very fast pace if your DPS is extremely high (although your AR is quite low)... here's my gear that I use for farming..


But when it comes to higher MP, it is more advisable if you can occupy your DH with a higher crit chance (you need to get a lot of crit hit to kill the mobs/elites faster.)..I use cluster arrow (loaded for bear) due to its massive crit produced by this ..although it dont get as high as 1.1 mil crit hit like my farming gear, but it is better due to its frequency of generating crit hit every time I use my bow (hungering arrow) or cluster arrow..Here's my gear for higher MP...the question is, is this consider to be a good gear? The answer is no..... still weak.....


The balance gear for DH should consists of a balance stat of Crit Chance, All Resistance and Vit, ... it is a bonus if you could get a high DPS but to obtain such perfect gear will cost you an insane amount of gold.... here's my gear that I use recently for higher Uber ( I use Grenadier, Vengeance & Perfectionist)....although I still died a few times but it is much better compare with the previous ones....

Well look at it this way, another 5 more months.. 300k dps unbuff for a demonhunter would be very simple to achieve

You don't need sharpshooter for farming low MP. Waste of skill slot. IMO the best passives for low MP farming would be:

1. Vengeance
2. Tactical Advantage
3. Perfectionist/Archery

But of course, that's just what i think la..

Hatred spender on MP1-2 should be Ball Lightning. The AOE is just massive.

Farming Gears. Using pickup radius gears to fully reap the benefit of vengeance.


On high MP, cluster arrow is great but the damage and life steal you get from spike traps: echoing blast is just insane. Give it a try!

My passives are: 1. Archery 2. Perfectionist 3. Night Stalker/TA (depends on who i'm with)

Sometimes i use GT if i need them. If i don't i swap GT for MoD and wailing host for SoJ.
