QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 27 2012, 05:46 PM) I bought this slim magnetic case from ebay: benny, i think thats the same case i'm using, but mine the magnet is not at the right place.http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...ME:L:OC:MY:3160 When i close the flap, it will auto shutdown the display but will not wake it up when i flip it open Another irritating issue, when i turn the flap completely flat backwards, it will shutdown the display too. What a design and i see it as useless. So i have to hold the tablet with the flap turned back not fully but prop slightly up at the edge to avoid display shutdown so no smart feature. but the seller say will send me a new unit. i posted a video in pervious page |

just flash the CNA latest version.
it feels just like stock rom. but got some CM and AOKP features. project butter definitely there. everything smooth like stock. unfortunately the option to hide/unhide navigation bar not there. not a big deal, will use for few days see how then only judge it. its using an unknown kernal. 3.1.10-06206-gc3e0d3d paul@ubuntu #37 lets see if this CNA really give extra 30% battery life. just notice this is a non wipe rom. yeah This post has been edited by mtxx: Aug 28 2012, 02:11 PM |

QUOTE(jpaq @ Aug 29 2012, 12:46 PM) How much memory free space your Nexus S have left? Bear in mind, 8GB doesn't give you the full 8GB. It will come 4-5 GB available only at best or maybe even less. Do a Google search to confirm this. As for the 16GB, mine had about 13GB free memory out of the box. which service center you send to?So how to decide? Nobody can answer that for you, really. You can use your usage of your Nexus S memory as a guide, I suppose. But having more is always better than less, especially if the price difference is not too great. Added on August 29, 2012, 12:55 pm Craaappp... I had sent my unit in to Asus Malaysia SC for screen lifting and screen flickering issues. Sent it in on 23 Aug 2012. Also waiting for spare parts, though I dunno exactly what they intend to change - mebbe the wifi component (quite possible) or the frame of the unit holding the screen (rather wishful thinking). When I first sent in, the guy told me they may even change the LCD! Dunno for what... If yours sent in on 17 Aug also not yet kao tim... my one... err... die lorrr... hahaha! I just called them, they say my case may need another 2-3 weeks because have to order parts from overseas. Mebbe they giving me a new unit due to the screen lifting issue? Another round of wishful thinking.... kakaka the one inside lowyat plaza? i'm thinking no point sending to the service center now. since they dont have spare parts, send also waste effort only, the tab will just sit in their office. i rather continue use it. its working find as long volume dont more than 40% wait 1 month later they got spare parts only send. Added on August 29, 2012, 4:50 pmi realize my tab more warm after i flash new CNA rom, i check CPU spy, then only realize its running most of the time at 1.4GHz, on stock rom, its running most of the time at 1.2GHz, i dont like the heat and i believe it will cause bad battery life. i set the performance settings to be 1.2GHz max, but it does not follow the settings. anyway to make it stick to lower frequency? QUOTE(jpaq @ Aug 29 2012, 06:19 PM) Bro, what you can do is go there anyway, make your warranty claim, demo the sound problem to them, lodge in your case in their system. They should then order the necessary parts from abroad. In the meantime, you actually can have the option of taking home your device with you and continue using it, while waiting for the parts. At least enquire with them about this. This would be considerably less of a waste of time then. And how would you know for sure they have spare parts for you 1 month later? Especially if you never brought your case to their attention in the very first place? guess a trip to lowyat plaza is inevitable then. They offered me the same arrangement earlier, but I declined, preferring to leave the device there, hoping that they may get the repairs done that little bit faster (sort of put indirect pressure on them). On top of that, I was not going to touch it further anyhow, worried about cracking my raised display. So might as well leave it there. Oh, I went to their service centre located at Level 4 of Low Yat Plaza. all right, i will go there once i manage to squeeze some free time. That is why I said in my review is the coolest tablet I have used including smartphones hm...benny, i think you misunderstood me.If rom issue you will read manysuch complains already i never say this tablet overheat etc. on stock rom, max cpu speed is 1.3GHz, but majority of the time it will be at 1.2GHz. after flash CNA, the max cpu speed is 1.5 and spend majority time at 1.4GHz. it IS noticeably warmer than stock rom. its due to the extra warm feel that lead me to check the cpu usage, i usually never bother to open cpu spy app at all. but even in CNA, its still very cool compare to other tablet. but it is cooler in stock rom than CNA, and i think its the higher CPU speed. im using the default kernal given in CNA rom, i want to underclock it back to stock speed but unable to do so. i use the performance settings in settings This post has been edited by mtxx: Aug 29 2012, 06:39 PM |

I also want this post to serve as a guide of sorts in regards to warranty claims for potential buyers of the device. For them to know what they are getting into before they plonk down their hard earned money for the N7. And I am not siding Asus Malaysia nor do I work for them. I am just pointing out matters objectively. but still abit angry at asus for these quality issues. anyhow, i think i over reacted at the speaker issue. the speaker is fine as long not > 40% volume. i opened the case, and notice there are 2 speakers underneath. the left speaker is the one that's screw up. the right speaker working fine. if only there's a way to disable the left speaker. or have an app to set the volume limit. |

Less than RM 10. Buy in hardware shop or mr Diy. If u have a voltage regulator at home high chance it can support international plug too. First obvious thing to check is dead pixel. Screen lift, test speaker. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801464 |

QUOTE(un_id @ Aug 30 2012, 05:36 PM) you are not answering the questions, but giving definitions instead.. the fellow ask HOW to test? means was asking for methods ok ok, i'll be more specific.1. go to gallery, scroll through some pics. look at the screen at close range, observe got any dots on the screen that is static and forever stuck at the same color or not. 2. see the tablet from the sides. see the screen got come out abit or not. its suppose to be same level at the bazel. if unsure, just compare left and right side see same or not. usually the left side is lifted. 3. load youtube or just play any sound at maximum volume. if got weird noise or cracking sound, means speaker spoil. compare the same sound at low and max volume. there, specific enough? |

QUOTE(Bugeca @ Aug 31 2012, 09:09 AM) That is supported since JB especially Nexus 7, what it lacks is usb audio dac support. Which will improve the sound quality. I wonder why SGS3 has this feature but not Google own device. erm, not sure what are you talking about. usb audio dac support?basically my nexus 7 speaker is screwed, cant go louder than 40% or sound will get totally cracking. thought of buying a portable speaker, but those not cheap and require their own battery. what i use is normal PC usb powered speaker, dig from my storeroom, lol... i plug the power source to the usb on the go cable, so it receive power from nexus 7, and the audio cable to nexus 7 audio jack. its working fine and can go really loud. long long ago i tried with my sgs2, but phone battery not enough to power usb speaker. so glad nexus7 one can work. if not i stuck with soundless tablet |
