yeah, there is a kernel that runs on stock speed.
just release 2 days ago.

its called franco kernal.

is this guy like a superstar in xda?
never seen him before. he has 13k thanks, super amazing. shocking.gif

but his kernel so advance, abit troublesome to flash.
its not a cwm zip, need to go bootloader, use adb something to flash.

luckily the nexus toolkit got a GUI to do so, easily done like using odin in samsung phones.
yeah yeah thumbup.gif

expecting good battery life starting from tomorrow.
the default cna kernal really bad battery and warmer than stock rom.

My experience completely different
Not hot average mid thirties even with continuous prolong use
Excellent battery life
Combine w Trinity kernel
But latest version including nightly 30aug browser sometime freeze slightly
So since yesterday I switch to euroshank jellybro cm10. Very smooth n battery equally good

Surprise you don't know franco. Well known in sgs phones n nexus phones. Get his paid app for more kernel features
*
i was using the default kernal bundled with CNA.
that kernal is overclocked, warmer.
hmm.gif why is this hard to believe? higher clock speed = warmer = less battery.
i'm not making this up here. it stays at 1.4GHz during intensive task.

havent tried trinity because that requires paid app to control it right?
dont like to pay for a kernel, unless absolutely no other choice.
i'm guess your trinity kernel is nicely tweaked and optimized for battery&performance

franco kernel is true to the description, running at stock speed,
cpu spy proves it, stays at 1.2GHz at high use.
i dont feel the placebo effect of any rom/kernal is faster/smoother,
but i definitely feel the slightly warmer tab. so i'm happy with this now. icon_rolleyes.gif

franco is well known in sgs1 and galaxy nexus?
i only own sgs2, tab10.1 and nexus7, no wonder never seen him before.
13k thanks is really alot, he must be really really senior and awesome.
good to see such great developer for nexus 7 as well.

yo guys is it okay if i use my Galaxy Tab 7.7 charger head with my Nexus 7? cause the Nexus 7 charger head is different and my adapter for the charger is loose.. it won't spoil it right?
*
same right? its 5V 2000mA.
sure can use la, wont spoil

the default nexus7 charger is so lightweight. love it.
samsung one so damn big and heavy.

even with my adapter its still smaller and way lighter than the samsung tablet charger.

that's the thing, the voltage is not written on the charger head. yeah the Samsung one is big, but unfortunately the Nexus 7's charger head got no adapter in my house that fits perfectly haha
this is my charger, it's the original one (the one that comes with the tablet, SME) but i can't seem to find where the voltage is written. if it's compatible and won't spoil then okay lah.

*
Got write, I think you need detach the charger head only can see.
All Samsung tab same charger, I use before tab 10.1, confirm is 5 v 2000mA

ohh and that voltage is the voltage for the Nexus 7 voltage as right? it's also for the iPad one also if i'm not mistaken..
*
IPad charger is 5.1v 2100mA
Slightly higher.

Last time if I plug in tab 10.1 to iPad charger,
It will sat not charging. Battery icon will have a cross sign.

Never try nexus before on iPad charger.

I bought USB on the go...downloaded stickmount but nothing is working .stickmount does not ask me to grant it superuser permission and I can't view files under usbstorage .anyone had same issue? Am using cn3.3.1 with Franco kernel?
*
Nexus 7 abit picky when it comes to usb otg cable.

I have 3 cables. Only one can be used by nexus 7.

My s2 cn use all. Weird.
U try another cable and see.

I also on cna and Franco kernel.

So far no one mentioned that must use specific USB OTG. Should be open and can use.
*
the usb otg cable is just a normal usb cable, but with a resistor connecting 2 of the pins inside.
this combination will let the device know to be in host mode.

every resistor got some tolerance.
i think the nexus one need very specific value only can enter host mode,
maybe s2 more lenient,
just my guess though

if yours not working on your tablet, try on your phone see working or not?
if both also not working perhaps you should try this

Aiya...can post the pic of the type that works...thanks
*
Attached Image
the one on the left working for both s2 & n7
the one on the right working only for s2

one more cable is my gf one, its not here, that one also only works for s2.

here is video showing what i mean.
s2 plug in can detect, nexus plug in no effect.
sorry for blur pics. using old phone with no auto focus video.

by the way its not the rom or kernel fault.
previously use rooted stock rom and custom rom also like that.
nexus7 only like the cable on the left. no idea why. rclxub.gif
not only pendrive, speaker, gamepad, everything doesnt work if dont use its favourite cable.

i just fixed my speaker issue
as i noticed, its the left speaker that is spoil, right speaker perfectly fine.

placed a folded piece of small paper on top of left spoil speaker, then close the case.
the paper press the spoil speaker, so it wont make sound.

sounds good, no more distortion anymore, volume is good too.
but my speaker become mono speaker now la. barely notice it.

You can buy a wireless external hard disk (500Gb), solve storage limitation and can store more video + music.
icon_idea.gif
*
its different. built in memory is the most convenient option.
2nd choice is having external sd slot.

but regardless, i still love this tablet.

by the way, i'm sick of the home screen landscape mode,
all the launchers, apex, nova threbuchet, the transition from landscape to portrait and vice versa is not seamless.

there is a very horrible lag, and widgets seems to struggle to appear after the switch. even the app tray also like tat.
ruin the whole project butter. duno why like that.

maybe android OS bug, no wonder google disable landscape mode.
i also disable it already, cant stand the lag.

This thing looks abit fake to me, but it is uber cool if its real.

basically this guy here use the empty camera slot inside the tablet,
and make it into a micro SD slot.

i'm a cheapskate without data plan. wifi spots are everywhere but password protected.
so that dont really works.

what really works is your friends/cousins/family,
they're everywhere, just grab their iphones/androids and turn on their hotspot, and your good to go. brows.gif tongue.gif

btw I hope they release nexus 10 lol
7 inch seems too small, need the size like the A4 paper
*
dont judge too early.
gadgets size perception may change in time.

long ago i first see iphone, i'm like wow, such a big big screen.
now iphone is the tiniest screen around. pathetic.

last time hesitate to buy 4.3 inch phone worry too big,
now feel its so small, prefer 4.6/4.8 inch, or even 5.3 inch

last time feel tablet 10inch too small, (comparing to laptop), how to online/watch movie?
after using feel its very very nice and not bad at all.

now you feel 7 inch too small,
use it for a while, now i feel 10inch tablet too big, and HEAVY,
why carry extra weight when the 7inch one can do the same.
being that small and light, you can grab it in one palm comfortably for long duration, is really awesome.

TLDR?
dont judge the size too early, belum cuba belum tau.
you may end up liking it.

paranoid is ok too. i like rom that can hide navigation bar, having full screen browsing is good especially in landscape.

Dear Sifu,
You stick with the CNA stock kernel or using other custom kernel?
*
the default CNA stock kernal is overclocked, slightly warmer, and cant last more than 6 hours.
i think he is using trinity with lots of optimization.

but today i jump ship to paranoid android.
its quite good actually, you can choose a mode to make it phablet mode to get the UI of CNA,
couldn't really tell the difference between smoothness, both also very smooth, dont have to wipe system also it can work fine

good thing about it is apps like youtube can make it tablet mode, and minimize the navigation bar at will.
battery life not sure yet, cos just use it for one day.
