yes.

because to root you need unlock bootloader. and that will wipe your device.

but if you use the nexus root toolkit, got option to backup your data.
after you unlock bootloader and root, you can use to restore.

usually if plan to root, will root when you first get it.
i rooted mine the first thing i do after power it on.

bah...thats what every one thinks in the beginning.
but this is what most likely will happen

1. in the end you wont be able to resist, and you will root.
2. you couldn't resist your curiosity, you will flash some custom rom just for the fun of it
3. will try more and more custom rom
then will either end up at 4 or 5

4. finally realize stock offers most battery life and stable but less 'extra features'
5. finally found a nice rom that you like and will stick with it.

then after bored with either 4 or 5, will go back to step 2.


currently i'm in stage 4. haha.
lol...just root la, and enter this inevitable cycle.

benny, if i remembered correctly,
you never use stock rom before,
you were on stock less than 3 hours and straight go custom rom.

so how you judge cna is 30-40% better in battery life compared to stock?

for people who sked to root, this is an app that can let you read USB pendrive using USB OTG cable, but its only read only, cannot write, and its not free. but still useful, as you guys most like just throw movies inside pendrive and want to watch it.

in dead trigger game, is it worth to buy the chain saw? will it be useful when run out of ammo?

oh ya wana remind you guys, flashing to another rom seems to delete the game process. remember log in and use the online backup. titanium backup wont restore the saved game. so sad...

stock, deodex with tablet UI patch, nova launcher JB beta.

custom rom that are based on leak cm10 is ICS smooth,
but not butter smooth. battery life sucks too.

the CNA rom benny recomend seems good,
i have faith in it cos its based on stock rom.

but since i'm happy with stock, continue use longer first.
cna dont seem to have tablet UI.

tried that and its not a good app.

it will force EVERYTHING to rotate according to the orientation.
including things thats not suppose to be in portrait mode.

such as movies, youtube playback.

and wost of all, games. some games you play in landscape,
if you suddenly turn it to portrait, it rotates and all the controls gets messed up.
even after you rotate back to landscape mode. frustrating. and it leaves an icon at the notification bar which is ugly.

for homescreen rotation, use apex or nova launcher.

thanks goodness my unit is working fine so far.

i only seen screen flicker once.
it just dim for a split second and back to normal.
never encounter it again.

i never see screen lifted before.
not sure how it looks like. pictures in xda not obvious also.

edit: ok i just found a pic of screen lifted. its usually on the left side.

i take a look at mine, mine also got lifted, but i need to be 1cm away only i can notice, and mine is very VERY small lift, unlike the one in the pic above. i dont think this is a huge issue, been using mine almost 1 month and now only notice it. haha.

the left side, the screen lifted at the left side top part. in real life need to aim the screen at that perfect side angle only can see. took so long to snap this picture. hard to focus and get the right angle.

nova and apex launcher also got a big lag after rotation.

nova JB beta is very smooth, can feel butter effect, but got a bug,
when return to home screen fromapp tray home screen is empty, need press back or home again only stuff returns.

all launcher is very laggy for 2 seconds after rotation.
example from portrait you rotate to landscape, try to swipe/enter app tray/anything,
very choppy and lag.

maybe its an android buy, no wonder google disable rotation in stock.

Use stock ROM for a week first.
Have a base line how stock rom perform.

Then only you can judge how custom ROM compare to it.

Stock ROM performance is amazing though. Project butter,super smooth

Custom ROM mainly for added features and customization.

I don't think so.

So far I tried one custom ROM which is glazed ROM.
It seems to be based on sgt7 which is based on cm.
Paranoid also based on cm.

Glazed ROM confirm no project butter.
It stutters quite often compare to stock

If wan project butter, choose custom Roms that say they are based on stock ROM.

Try the one Benny recommend. Cna.

Dead trigger cause it hot? I play very long also not hot.
My precious Samsung tab and my phone is hotter than nexus 7.
This tab when it gets hot, the glass feels hotter than the back. ,maybe the back is well insulated, not sure if that's a good thing but its comfortable to hold.:-)

I opened my back and try to screw it too. But it was already tighten. Will try our method to loosen and tighten again.
