cos by the bulb itself?
i aint so sure, i heard it was due to rookie wiring issue cos the bulb blinking.
*
the wiring consists of only 2 wires... live and neutral.. for lighthing those wires can be plugged in staright to bulb if built in choke..
how can it be wrong? if short circuit the mcb will trip... if too small wiring size the wires will burn...

so it must be the bulb if its not the choke problem...

anyone has idea, what cause the bulb blinking from one to another? is it due to wiring?

The bulb problem. My experience even bizzar. Different brand of bulb put it together will cause other brand of bulb won't light. rclxub.gif

Initial cost is higher than normal downlight. But the choke is cost below rm10 if not mistaken.

The choke last me 14yrs till now. Never change a single choke before.

I doubt the installation cost is higher, when my electrician install my down light our never mention about difference rate between build in, or external choke. Anyway he never charge me on down light installation maybe is part of the light point cost.

I mean need to buy the choke part. The cost of the extra choke. Instead just the downlight.

I don't no what is the whole installation cost. As I install all the light and wiring by myself.

anybody know the cost to install downlight?
2 electrician quoted me RM50-60 per downlight installation (excluding the downlight cost)!!!
weeks back i bought 4'' round downlight at emart which cost RM8 including bulb each.
then i got the quotation to install is ard 50-60 per downlight, this sound unreasonable to me. mad.gif
but since both electrician quoted the same price, it could be the current market price, is it?
any idea abt the cost of installation?

my master roon 22x17 - need how many 4' downlights?
smaller bedroom 14x11 - need how many 4' downlights?
*
That is the standard cost to install downlight if the electrian included the wiring work. Dont be stingy dude. If you know how hard it is to install a light + wiring work you would probably appreciate it even more. Besides, if you want to save money, just install a normal light or better yet.. use a LED light.

Actually I find it funny, when I first Install the down light my choke was making some noise, than after few weeks of use it become quiet. I also got advice from an electric shop, the boss told me some new choke need to run in too yawn.gif

Anyway if only change after 7 to 10 years is ok for me, maybe by than LED is performing at its peak and cheaper.

Guys,
Need some advice on the cost.
Suppose I have sufficient points for downlight (no hacking and no new point), how much it will cost to do just the wiring and installing a downlight?

thanks.

My electrician quoted me RM 60 for new wiring, cutting hole in the plaster ceiling plus additional RM 20 for installation of 6 inch led downlight. This exclude the led downlight itself. I think your's are more reasonable. Total cost of installation per downlight = RM 80. I have over 30 downlight to install mad.gif

Hey that's cheap compared to the price my contractor quoted me. New light point and wiring is already RM 60 and add RM 20 for installation. I think the range is like that one from RM 50- 70 new point + RM 12-20 for installation. Where's your area?
