Wow , RM8 for one down light include bulb. Make me wonder how long will the bulb last and the bulb holders quality even cheaper than ikea bulbs. I know down light can cost below 10 without bulb but with bulb... That really surprise me.

Yeah, that is why all my down light are external choke. Like my previous room, I got 8 bulbs in 4 Doreen light, only change one or was it two bulbs only, I did my iteminstallation in 2004. I have a center light run on build in choke, change at least 3time.

QUOTE(ozak @ Jun 26 2012, 10:39 AM) External choke cheaper. Cause it don't have electronic parts. But remind you that, external choke bulb will flicker when ON. Just like those Flurosent tube. Is only few second, I can live with it ;-)

QUOTE(ozak @ Jun 26 2012, 11:46 AM) Initial cost is higher than normal downlight. But the choke is cost below rm10 if not mistaken. The choke last me 14yrs till now. Never change a single choke before. I doubt the installation cost is higher, when my electrician install my down light our never mention about difference rate between build in, or external choke. Anyway he never charge me on down light installation maybe is part of the light point cost.

QUOTE(ozak @ Jun 26 2012, 12:34 PM) I mean need to buy the choke part. The cost of the extra choke. Instead just the downlight. I don't no what is the whole installation cost. As I install all the light and wiring by myself. Choke + bulb is about same price of bulb with build in choke.

QUOTE(skng03 @ Jun 26 2012, 03:16 PM) Bot @ sg long light shop, i use plce no choke.... I mean choke usually got noise when it age Actually I find it funny, when I first Install the down light my choke was making some noise, than after few weeks of use it become quiet. I also got advice from an electric shop, the boss told me some new choke need to run in too Anyway if only change after 7 to 10 years is ok for me, maybe by than LED is performing at its peak and cheaper.
