Need to take in consideration for
1. new wiring - electrician
2. Plaster ceiling hole making - plaster ceiling guy.

If new house, definately cost as much lor, if you are a new install got to pull new wiring, maybe even need hacking.

Not imitation. The lifespan or quality of the bulb. I try philip and some local brand. There don't last as it claim 8k hr. So get short change.

I try out hitachi and it last as it claim 8k hr or more. So all the light, I change it to hitachi. 23w cost rm18.5.

Built in don't last as long as those external. Cause the heat of the bulb kill the electronic parts inside. While the external don't have anything but the bulb.

My bedroom use external choke. Can last for 8-9yrs.

Yeah, that is why all my down light are external choke. Like my previous room, I got 8 bulbs in 4 Doreen light, only change one or was it two bulbs only, I did my iteminstallation in 2004. I have a center light run on build in choke, change at least 3time.

External choke cheaper. Cause it don't have electronic parts. But remind you that, external choke bulb will flicker when ON. Just like those Flurosent tube.
