QUOTE(RunForAGoodCause @ Sep 28 2012, 09:51 AM)
Hi Gentlemen, this Sunday PJ Half Marathon would be my first attempt on completing 21KM. There are a few things I need advice from experienced runners here. I will be on LSD to finish the course.

1) Should I eat clean and moderate protein such as egg white 1 day before?

2) Should I have breakfast before the run and drink lots of water to prevent dehydration?

3) Should I take a bottle of Gatorade with me while running?

4) Should I perform adequate stretching 1 day before?

Please share your comments and suggestions.

Thank you!
*
mmm .. i still remember my first HM .. Brooks HM

1. i ate like normal, nothing specify, just noodle and pasta for my meal intake ..
2. 3 slice of whole grain bread with peanut butter one hour before the run .. water just a mouth full for me .
3 i guess along the way there is water station so no worry on that .
4. stretching should be done every day. wink.gif

90boyz, which means sufficient carbohydrate is essential for runners? Ok I'll make an effort to do stretching daily. 3 slices of whole grain bread with peanut butter an hour before the run; is that too much and water will make the bread bloat? Ya, must drink-up every 7KM. B the way, are you running PJ Half Marathon too?

for water i not so particular coz i survive in the training of 17KM without a single drop of water but this is bad lar .. laugh.gif
i'm not joining the PJ HM coz i'm doing Salomon X-trail 10KM .. also this year i already join 4 HM .. so already moved on into Full marathon .. wink.gif

QUOTE(boyz @ Sep 28 2012, 01:18 PM)
to avoid cramp in runs, during training, speed works will increase the lactate threshold of the muscle. speed works are define by run fast at x amount of minute then rest at y minute for at least 5 times in a 1 hour run which i adapt in my training. by doing this your muscle memory will adapt to the sudden need of energy to burst. so its like your muscle has increase the lactate bank. thus make u last longer in runs by distance or by speed.

for race day, water/isotonic drinks may only be consumed lesser as you approached race hour. if possible clear your bowels and water tank b4 race. No spicy food day b4, no too heavy food. carb loading are done a few days back.

and best way to have a good run, phsyed yourself up , give yourself a good talk. run with a clear vision smile.gif and Enjoy the scenery.

Today is my 3rd day in a row, my legs ache but spirit wanted to run, so went ahead
Distance: 4.58km
Duration: 29:17
Avg Pace: 6.24 min/km
Avg Speed: 9.38 km/h

Only 1 round and really cannot already. Kaki mau putus sad.gif

Anyway, I noticed when I run, my landing seems to be heavy. Kind of like dragging feet. Is it because lack of strength or bad habit? Any advice?

Btw, I'm staying near Desa Park City, so running there is convenient. Any other places to run around Kepong area?

My first run at PJ Half Marathon yesterday. Took 7km, but managed to clock 45mins without training. Is it good? Didn't wear my specs so I missed all the water stations lol!

It was quite a fun experience but my lower thigh hurts now.

But had to search for water and was wondering around in the stadium, not knowing water are outside. sad.gif

I feel like doing proper training for future marathons now. biggrin.gif Will be joining Nike 10km, but not sure if I can make it.
