Trust me, the only RPG with good storyline were back then with Squaresoft (not Square Enix) days on Playstation 1 and PC game like Never winter nights and Elder Scroll series.

Red about something on Final Fantasy bashing on Kotaku last night, the title was bashed all the way from FFXI.

Storyline is important in RPG, but I like when you can pick alternative ways on completing quest, either you can do it in a good way, or a bad way or with persuasion.
Meaning, on action you pick, will determine the next story line. Later you character will be lawful good, chaotic evil, or just natural.

Example, Fable or Starwars: KOTOR.

This give more depth when you play the game second round or with second char.

Ending is the important thing, you been playing for +300 hours, the reward should be satisfied, at least the last boss battle should be epic.

Speaking of last boss battle, TL should have uber power optional boss as well, to reward their great loyal fans ( pointing to Fhaarkas )
FF have it, Borderland have it.. and the reward should be like alternate ending video, new game+ with new character new story line, really hard to get gear or something.

in Fable, you can fart at your 'enemy' and make them go away in disgust, that won many win from me

I played all those Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, Fable 1!

Borderlands 1's final boss was

How you guys kill it? For me I just kite him to entrance and run back and forth to portal to cheap shot him ..took me a while ..15 mins maybe.

But I think the best is to let Ordrak 'eat' his summon dragon first.. when area is clear.. go whack it.. oh.. pump the fire resistant.

There's a different boss in 2nd playthrough?

Still going through playthrough 1 DLC , at secret armory.

the boss is same, just a hell lot harder

the final boss in 2nd playthrough took me 20 minutes to beat, since the only gun left is the ammo-regenerating revolver.

Crawmerax is available after you beat the secret armory dlc as sidequest.

takpa, I approve.

In TL2 beta, some elites took me 5 minutes, some mini bosses (with sicked entrance, me like!)took me about 15 minutes running around Solo of course. But at the end of the act 1 final boss, it was pretty quick though.

No, didn't get the DLC. Funny cause I felt my first playthrough was harder than the second time round. Second playthrough was so easy I slept through.

Halfway through the first time playing TL1, i give up liao. Too cartoonish form me and the storyline is like no storyline at all. The best storyline for a action RPG game this year is The Witcher 2. Memang dashyat.

Playing Torchlight for graphics and storyline. Seems legit.

JK. If you don't come from Diablo Nostalgia Land it is pretty hard to get into TL so don't worry about it.
