I read that although G55 has dual exhaust but one of them is dummy. Is that true? hmm.gif
*
a member in the G series thread posted in the rog forums to ask about this. Why is one the exhaust vent was partially closed?

apparently it was to prevent all the heat from going to the battery.

as quoted from the rog forum

"some of the right side is closed intentionally because that's where the battery is."

"Yes two fans and heatpipes - independently monitoring the GPU and CPU, output to one large, central vent. Aesthetically this vent is split in two, but the battery has to go somewhere, which is why it is blanked! Naturally the thickest point gives the most room for the 8 cell. Pop out the battery and see for yourself - it's absolutely not an error. They didn't make the vent smaller because symmetry is more visually pleasing. Technology doesn't adhere to human rules of beauty though - it's entirely functional.

If you watch the G55/G75 video you'll see the two cooling fans clearly - it's an accurate representation of the construction."

Can we find the HDD caddy case for Y580 in Lowyat? How much is it?

Planning to relocate HDD to DVD position for better cooling...

Is there any better cooling suggestion to overcome the HDD high temp due to design flaw? notworthy.gif

Bad cooling system for Y580. Only one fan to cool down processor and high end graphics card? sweat.gif

It should be at least 2 fans to cool down the components separately, like this.

hahaha...does this double fans really matters that much in terms of practicality?? two fans running means empty your battery faster , and the laptop size has to be blown up to accommodate another fan, the notebook will be heavier too due to the extra metal fittings...oh yah, the company are going to bump up the price to a million ringgit too if they have this extra feature.....and wht's more surprizing ,the extra fan u have there is useless unless you are gaming~~

laptop with high-end graphics card not meant for gaming or normal usage in battery mode. single or dual fan doesn't matter much. it's all about ventilation design and heat dissipation. in fact, that's the characteristics of gaming laptop. It meant to be heavy.

i use lappy with dual fan and both spinning either in idle or gaming.

The picture cooling system are thumbup.gif but the price, battery life, thickness and weight are sweat.gif

When we compromise on cost, performance, weight & battery life, we get Y580. laugh.gif

Best compromise for mobility and performance is the new Macbook Pro. thumbup.gif

The Acer TimelineX 3820TG with AMD HD5650M comes with a dual fan configuration. It worked like a charm, and it was almost a perfect laptop.
Then comes the successor TimelineX 3830Tg with GT540M, where Acer decided to removed one of the fans, it ended up suffering from severe CPU and GPU throttling.. because of that, we don't even recommend that laptop in this forum regardless of how awesome the 3820Tg was sad.gif

does the components really gonna fried without the extra fan? Y580's temperature look nice to me
the problem it has is the location of the HDD ...the whole cooling system is working fine on this laptop with SINGLE fan
