No worry if ur laptop got most common problems like buzzing speaker or bad touch pad design, because these do not cost a big problem.
U will still love this laptop a lot

Temperature, i played dota2 and ghost recorn with cooler pad in air-cond roomp, stay below 83C

random question:

new user of N56Z i5 version reporting in. SO FAR i have non of the problems you guys mentioned here. It's a beautiful laptop and i'm loving it. Only thing lacking is the FHD screen, otherwise it would have been perfect! Got it from a forumer at RM2670 with 8GB 1333Mhz RAM upgrade, not the best deal.

48%, with 2 tabs in google chrome, kuwo music box, steam and dota2 are running. smile.gif

However, Physical Memory stay at 38% if I closed dota2. So i guess dota2 uses roughly 10%.

It's like gambling, either you are lucky enough to get a perfect laptop or bad luck enough to get a faulty one.
Well.

Hey guys, I've just installed another 4GB ram to my lappy. But I doesn't feel any smoother. I checked the properties of the Computer, it appeared to be 8GB installed but only 3.15GB usable. Is that usual? How do I utilize all of the RAM installed?

maybe your windows is 32 bit? 32 bit os can only utilize 3.2 GB i think. more than that you will need 64 bit os.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wi...v=vs.85%29.aspx

to check your windows version: go to
Control Panel\System and Security\System

---------------------------------------------------

not sure if your problem is due to the os, but the following article is excellent in teaching something I have always got wrong without realizing until now...

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/hardware/clearin...-confusion/3124

"
The 4GB limit refers to total addressable memory space and not just the RAM installed. It's a total made up of system RAM, graphics RAM, PCI memory range, ACPI and a few other bits and pieces. And if you think that your system RAM is the only significant factor, think again. You can buy graphics cards fitted with 1GB of RAM, and if you wanted (and had the spare cash!) you could fit three of these into a system. There's not a 1 to 1 relationship between graphics memeory consuming system RAM, but the larger the memory, the more the card sets aside for itself. Now that 4GB limit doesn't leave you a lot of space for system RAM. For more information, check out an excellent post by tech guru Mark Russinovich. Here's a small extract from Mark's blog:

The consumption of memory addresses below 4GB can be drastic on high-end gaming systems with large video cards. For example, I purchased one from a boutique gaming rig company that came with 4GB of RAM and two 1GB video cards. I hadn't specified the OS version and assumed that they'd put 64-bit Vista on it, but it came with the 32-bit version and as a result only 2.2GB of the memory was accessible by Windows. You can see a giant memory hole from 8FEF0000 to FFFFFFFF in this Meminfo output from the system after I installed 64-bit Windows.

On system fitted with 4GB of RAM and a modest graphics card with 512MB of on-board memory the end user normally sees about 3GB of installed system RAM. So what this means is that the realistic upper RAM limit for a 32-bit OS is more like 3GB. If you're adding big graphics cards with larger amounts of RAM (or using Crossfire or SLI) then you'll need to be seriously thinking about a 64-bit OS much sooner.

hmm, 2700 for an i7 system - the closest one i can think of is Lenovo Y480 (at 14" HD) or Y580 (at 15.6" FHD), one cost ~2380, the other ~2848.

Day 3 of usage, so far no problem. The speaker on the N56Z really rocks. And the laptop is really a beauty.

So basically it's a satisfying good laptop right? phew. this makes me feel a lot better. I saw somebody else's got youtube crashed on google chrome. No sound this and that. But to be frank, a buzzing speaker is kinda disturbing to me actually. Because I'm the kind of person who enjoy music a lot. Hmm... Hope the one I get won't have any problem of these. *finger crossed*

It is to me. The satisfaction of just looking at it each time i open up the laptop. Fuhhhhhhh. loll. Previously i was using Mozilla and does have frequent adobe flash player crashes but no more problem after i switch to Google Chrome.

And i did not realize any buzzing over the right speaker, i guess it gets better over time? The speakers on N56Z is extremely powerful, volume is super loud and good bass from the external sub.

Also i did not have problem with the unleveled touch pad. Everything seems perfect till now.

Wow, I'm getting really excited now. Hopefully I can get mine before this Friday. The boss say after raya only they start deliver the stocks.
And I guess you won the gamble. You got the non-faulty one. Hah good for you.

Extra question, did anyone upgraded the warranty? Should I do so?

for i7 laptop, if I was you I will choose Y580 instead, the warranty seems better (seems only), and hundreds of bucks cheaper than Asus where I think the difference is not much and even Y480 and Y580 already has GDDR3 GPU.
Asus N56 only wins design and HDD temperature, and the subwoofer which gives very nice bass.. to be honest.
Y480 has JBL speaker, which is considered not bad already.

Software crashing is always not a big deal to worry. Either re-installing software or upgrading software it is ok already.
For buzzing speakers all I can say is if you enjoy music I think you're listening to music at silent places which doesn't need loud volume,
thus lower down the risk of getting buzzing sound biggrin.gif
Also not a very critical problem though, for me it's more like 1/30 songs of chances to get buzzing sound while playing songs.
What to worry if it able to play Gangnam style without any buzzing sound and terribly nice bass nod.gif

i think u can read carefully the few threads in Mobile Computing and Notebook Specific Discussion, on N56 and also Y480/Y580, to get a feel of what these owners think about their babes, and what kinds of complaints they have (both are NOT perfect). better still, after reading, GO to a shop that have both displayed, touch them, hold them, feel them. then you should be able to make your own decision. no one can decide for you. i think both are terrific machine - it all depends on your own needs now....

good luck.
