No no , For registration (1 year) u need to pay RM 40.

Once the registration is expired , you need to pay RM 40 for renewal and so on.

Meanwhile if u purchased domain from other provider and wish to transfer into their server , u need to pay RM 40 for transfer fee.

chicaman, why don't you just use no-ip or dyndns?
it's a free domain provider, with exception you need to use their domain name.

like xxx.no-ip.org

http://www.no-ip.com

http://www.dyndns.com

NO-IP domain is freaking expensive.

Just buy a domain from any provider and host it at free DNS provider like www.mydomain.com , so you can create domain redirection to your blogspot account.

If the domain name is unavailable , you have to try another TLD or , try another name.

Okay let me show you step by step.

1. Buy domain from any registrar , you should put all billing, contact and technical details during sign up. Once the process is completed , the domain is yours. Wait until the domain is fully propagated on Internet , usually it takes up to 48 hours.

2. Register MyDomain account, login and add your domain into your control panel.

3. Once the domain is up , you need to change the domain nameserver to NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM , NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM , NS3.MYDOMAIN.COM and NS4.MYDOMAIN.com , and wait until the DNS server is updated.

4. Once the DNS server is updated , you can create a web redirection from your domain to your blogspot account

Hope this will help you.

TLD stands for Top Level Domain , which is the domain extension like .com , .net , .org , .my , .cc , .sg is considered as TLD.

buddy, actually its like this... You can buy the domain name from any Registrar means you can buy from any webhosting company like ipserverone.com la, or sempoihosting.com and etc... Once you purchase the domain name from them, you will be provided an domain control panel from the company. You may change the DNS stuff there...

So now, if let say you just want to buy the domain name but you do not have any webhosting, you can redirect your domain name to your current blog/forum/etc... You get what I mean?

Assuming you meant domain name system, a domain name will only point to one destination. But you can configure multiple hosts to have them 'share' one domain name. For example a domain that usually points to a primary server, but if the server is offline it will be rerouted to a backup server.

Theoretically that is how it works, but practically, you do that only if you have static web sites. If you have a dynamic web site, it is a big no no. If you want to run a backup site, you will have to use an active DNS server, replicate mySQL databases on secondary server from primary and do the required MX record to ensure emails are delivered to the correct place.

This is very tedious because you will need root access on both servers. You can't do that with shared hosting account.

Hope that helps smile.gif
