I understand that you will be going to Taiwan in January .... why not buy over there? I thought someone mentioned that it is cheaper in Taiwan but not sure whether how substantial is the price difference.

Huh! Is that so! I thought of buying it when I go to Taiwan in December. I remembered someone mentioned about international warranty (with English language menu) when you buy it in Japan too.

Anyway to me, if the price is not very much cheaper then I would prefer to buy it locally. No point of the hassle on the warranty.

Some latest news for those looking for high quality compact. We will have more choices now. I am a RX100 user for about 2 years, leaving my dslr to collect dust. It is so small and convenient, operation and focusing is quick, image quality is quite close to my old DSLR with kits lens.

There are a lot of features I like but they are some that I seriously hope Sony can fix it. If I haven't bought RX100, I'll consider the new Canon G7X (successor of Canon S series compact like S90 till S120) at USD699 (~RM2300 direct conversion). Sony SRP for RX100M3, M2 and M1 are RM2999 (USD899), RM2499 (USD759) and RM 1899 (USD575) respectively.

- RX100 optical stabilization for still image is very poor wide open. G7X is expected to have better IS. S90 users claims to get sharp image at 1/4s handheld. RX100 is very difficult to get tack sharp image at 1/15s without leaning myself on table/wall. Review said IS has improve on RX100M3 but I don't have one to test out.

-RX100 has no convenient control over minimum shutter speed (1/30s) and no Auto-ISO in M mode. G7X has "focal-length-based Auto ISO change thresholds". RX100m3 has auto-ISO in M mode as well.

-RX100 aperture is 4.9mm at telephoto end. G7X has the benefit of both RX100 & RX100M3, starting from a wider 24mm (1.8) to longer 100mm (2.8). Plus, The aperture doesn't close down as quick as RX100M3. RX100M3 hits 2.8 already at 30mm.

-G7X has touch screen. I think it'll be conveniece sometimes when external click/ dial are limited.

-G7X screen can tilt up 180 to do selfie. It's less flexible than RX100M3 but better than a fixed screen.

-G7X uses 20MP Sony sensor from RX100m3 (unconfirmed yet) but DIGIC JPEG engine should please "Canon color" lovers, compared to the "cool" feel of RX100.

-G7X front wheel dial has 'click' feel as compared to RX100 smooth feel. The click should be easier to control settings more accurately though will introduce sound when recording video.

-G7X & RM100M3 can release flash with a button. RX100 needs to dig in menu to do that.

-G7X has weaknesses also like poorer video specs, no EVF, no hotshoe, CIPA battery rating 220 only, no panorama mode? If the operating speed, focusing speed and lens quality are at least on par with RX100/ RX100M2. I might seriously consider G7X for 24-100mm 1.8-2.8 lens, touch screen, tilt-up screen, better IS (hopefully), more flexible minimum shutter/ auto ISO control (hopefully) if I haven't bought my RX100.

Another LARGE compact (larger than LX7, smaller than G1X II) that might attract us is Panasonic LX100 with killer specs (16MP m43 'cropped/ multi aspect ratio' sensor, 24-75mm 1.7-2.8 lens, 4K recording etc). If you prefer mobile phone photography over camera, you now have Panasonic CM1 with 1" sensor and 28mm 2.8 Leica lens.

I'm a bit excited with the announcement of new camera even thought I will not buy any camera again in the near future.

You mean pouch or the sony leather case? Please be clear.  If you are referring to the leather case,  then the answer is 'no'. Any pouch also can use.
