For NEX7's ISO1600 level... what would be the equivalent for the RX100?

hi guys, went over to one of the Sony center in Gurney Plaza, they still did not have the display unit out but when I approached one of the sales person, I was half surprised that he said they have the unit already. Open up the drawer and showed me the box. Price wise? RM2499... free 8GB memory card and case. Woah, I bet we can get it at much cheaper price elsewhere, so without the ability to test, I just thanked him and walked away.

It got me thinking, should I opt for other similar size CSC camera (m4/3, Nikon 1, Canon EOS-M eventually?) or to just go with this super compact which can have its lens collapse completely, no future upgrade possibility and at a very expensive price.

I want a decent camera which shoots excellent video compared to a smartphone. Holding out on Nikon V1 for a few months... and now this excellent little shooter surfaced... not to mention, there would be new camera announcements soon, possibly Nikon 1 updated camera, LX7, EOS-M, etc.

Decisions, decisions...

Hope the Canon S105 does not disappoint like the the new Pana LX7.
Hoping it has tilt touch screen, and larger sensor but same body size LOL

For pocketable  premium point and shoot I think there will only be RX100
and Canon S series. Planning to buy the RX100 when the price drop below
2K    that is assuming the Canon S105 which is due does not create a stir.
Despite all the praise and publicity the RX100 is not flying off the shelf like
when Fuji X100 and X10 were launched. It is available on display almost
at all camera shops I visited recently with ready stock.

Do you have flickr or something that can link to large resolution pic at ISO3200?

Only HK got stock now. 

If got XZ1 already, really no need similar camera lor.

I already got GX1 which I love, I want to see if I can accept something even smaller and compact. Wish me good luck.

Yes very Pop and 3D. 2 possible explanation. 1. Very good Sony JPEG engine. 2. that forum got more pros than other forums and they  can take better pictures and have PP their photos.

Yes. As I was unable to save it with my card.

But the difference it so significant. There are some details that my XZ-1 was unable to capture. I wouldn't say it's the screen that appears to sharpen it.

no interested in RX100 already, no more postings? 

so far, I missed the LCD that can be articulated like Nex. I wish this is on the RX100

fast to take but i feel writing to card is a bit slow

class 6 Transcend. later i will try the class 10 but i doubt it will be any faster
when im using the continuous mode, it will blank the screen for quite long during saving to card.
shooting one at a time is not a problem

Battery life was my main concern when buying this camera.. after i get to know that the cam is charged with mini usb port and could be charged with power bank, there's i make up my mind n went with rx100.

To make myself feel balance, i compare it in a non professional way. For a 1.5/1.6x cropped sensor DSLR, it cost rm2-3k; a full frame 1x cropped, it cost rm6-7k, the price is doubled.

Comparing rx100 (1") to LX7 (1/7"), the sensor size is doubled, but the price is rm600 higher vs rm1.5k LX7, not yet doubled the price mer, so feel it's worth it la.

1 con side of rx100 i found during my trip is, the cam is more to underexposed around 1 stop.. whereas my fren s95 is always over exposed. Somehow it's better to be under rather than over also, can level it in photoshop.

Sony's flash feature: what other brand camera's can use the built in flash to do ceiling bounce?

The cam has a drop sensor, it will detect when the cam has a free fall and quickly retract the lense.

The filters: toy, illustration, miniature, water colour, high contrast b&w..all these add fun of playing with this cam..

hmm... sony, u haven't pay me commission of promoting this cam! lol.. atleast some free gift pls =P
anyway i really agrees that this is the best compact for 2012 (if it's cheaper by 500 it kills all other competitors)
