It makes sense now why woy didnt select a.johnson.He wanted somebody who wouldn't complain sitting on the bench full time

Liverpool appears to lose sigurdsson's deal


Liverpool appear to have lost out in the battle to sign Glyfi Sigurdsson, with the Icelandic midfielder instead joining Spurs.

Various reports in Germany claim a deal has been done between Hoffenheim and Tottenham – despite the London club not currently having a manager.

BBC Sport journalist Ben Smith wrote on twitter this morning “Hoffenheim had an agent in England yesterday, he flew back to Germany pm. If a deal has been done, almost certain it’s not LFC.”

Up until now, a deal with Liverpool appeared to be a formality, with Sigurdsson’s strong relationship with Brendan Rodgers a huge lure for the player who spent last season on loan at Swansea with Rodgers. However, it now seems Spurs have outbid Liverpool and offered the player a better deal.

If indeed these reports are confirmed, and it looks like they will, it is a bitter blow to Rodgers’ summer signing plans.

The fee for Sigurdsson is around 10m euros.

i dont get it.. how come sigurdson goes to spurs? spurs dont have any manager yet right?

They just look at the opportunity to play in champions league which we don't have. That's why no 'fantasy football' type of signing if you don't get a champions league spot.

Spurs don't have a Champions League spot either.

Then are we that piss poor in terms of wages? (Totenham did offer higher wages to some of our more elusive targets)

Most teams have signed at least one player and we're still dallying where the new season is just about 1 1/2 months away. I'm getting impatient already.

waiting for free transfers perhaps?

Free transfers normally don't come good, we should target quality players wanting to leave their respective clubs or contract almost coming to an end.

With the number of signings we've made last summer, I don't think Fenway will allow the same to happen again this summer. Fans should not expect a lot of new players this coming season.

However, I do think we need a better finisher, a poacher.. Someone who can even score with their backside..

We need someone like Edwin Moses to replace Henderson to link up with Suarez, looks like Chelsea is going after Moses. Why can't we act fast, I just don't understand. Much of the funds ended up on dross the last round and Brendan is trying to be more careful this time, I think.

if d rumor were correct, we cant even sign a mid table player like Glyfi Sigurdsson...what hope is there for better players to come here? i think we can only afford another voronin-type of signing at best

Nah ...... take it with a pinch of salt, Sigurdson to Spurs, just a smoke screen by the player's agent to speed things up at our end.
