u serious?? cant believe pool bought rodgers bought players just to aim for 4th spot...thought pool more ambitious than that...

we are ambitious but at the same time realistic . Just look at our table standing for this last few seasons .. I am suprised that we still have so many fans that keep supporting the club. Who do you reckon to buy if we aiming for 1st spot ?

Baby steps, we are a team that has been losing 1 every 3 games and only mustered 47 (I stand corrected) points. Top 4 this season would be a great improvement this season imo.

Big loss but i think we'll cope. I appreciate what he's done for us but it's not as big of a loss as say losing Borrell who is more valuable because he's the person who translates theories into practice. Hopefully all the wisdom that Segura has put into the club has been well documented for future reference.

In any case, tonight is the night!! Super hyped. Win or lose or draw, i only hope that we put in some good performance.

We finished 8th. They can't tell the press they want to finish top. But each of us know we do have chance finishing top because we are 50-50 when playing head to head against these top 4 or 5 teams. We just need to take all the points against the other 10 teams at bottom half.

Added on August 18, 2012, 1:59 pmFor the past many seasons. We were really short of pacey, skillful wingers and midfielders. I am really glad our new manager see it. I think we need a better left back too.

Bologna president Albano Guaraldi insists that midfielder Gaston Ramirez is still far from close to a switch to Southampton and criticised the Uruguayan's recent behaviour.

Ramirez, 21, had insisted that he was keen on a move to the South Coast and that an agreement had been reached in principal with the Italian side for his signature.

The claims, which came as a shock on Friday morning, have since been denied by Bologna's president, who dismissed reports that he would sell Ramirez for the €15 million fee quoted.

"Ramirez is contracted to Bologna and the club will decide upon his future, not the player himself," Guaraldi said.

"Ramirez's behaviour is totally unacceptable, giving open interviews like that without consulting us. Gaston cannot force my hand with two interviews. I am a serious person and I've already said it will take 20m to sell him. And I also told his agent."

We might be able to get him cheap

We may get him for free next season. How foolish of Fulham not to accept a lower bid for Dempsey. 10m for a 29 yr old seems to be pricey, he's worth most probably in the region of 6 to 8m. We will not be held to ransom like last season and happy that BR stoods his ground. anyway we're glutted with midfielders, so no hurry we can wait for next season to hijack Dempsey.

Agree that Fulham is foolish for asking 10m and with Dempsey refuse to play for Fulham in the opening match, I believe we can get him with less than 10m. If not we will get him for free next season.

Can't see how Mourinho would let a promising player leave for just 10m. Seems too good to be true.

Not 10m of course. Just a loan deal. The buyout fee would probably be in excess of 20m.

Mancini to give up on transfer trio
August 18, 2012
By Richard Jolly

Roberto Mancini is ready to admit defeat in his attempts to take Javi Martinez, Daniele De Rossi and Daniel Agger to Manchester City.

The Italian has already missed out on two other major summer transfer targets - Eden Hazard, who joined Chelsea, and Robin van Persie, who left Arsenal for Manchester United.

Now Athletic Bilbao's Spain international Martinez is on the brink of moving to Bayern Munich, and De Rossi and Agger, who appear likely to remain at Roma and Liverpool respectively.

"We talked about Martinez," Mancini said. "But it is a situation that is not easy because there are top clubs who want Martinez. De Rossi is difficult because he is a Roma. Agger? I don't think so."

Mancini has only brought in one player - Everton's Jack Rodwell - but Martinez and De Rossi, who are also both capable of playing in the centre of midfield or defence, were his preferred options for that role.

And while the Italian insisted his relationship with City's football administrator Brian Marwood is fine, he reiterated his stance that the club should have acted earlier in the transfer window.

He added: "Sometimes it is not enough maybe to have money to spend. Sometimes you should move very quickly because when there are three or four top teams involved it is difficult."

LOL Mancini is talking crap. "De Rossi is difficult because he is a Roma." WTF?

So Agger is difficult because he is a Pool?

So excited to watch tonight game. Hope Borini and Allen start so we can see 100% performance from our best eleven. Is it possible for Assaidi to play tonight?
