Even Kevin Keen has left.

Thank you Steve Clarke for everything you have done here. The defence greatly improved ever since his arrival and for a very poor Premier League season by our standards and the fact that Pepe Reina had a bad time in goal, it's amazing we were still joint 3rd best defence in the league.

All the best for the future, both Steve and Kevin.
Well .. I stole it off his Facebook but I'm going to shade his face out LOL

I'm wondering where Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing and Martin Kelly as I assumed they'd all had left Liverpool together.

went to Anfield today and really felt a big difference between old trafford and Anfield. A new stadium is a must or we must start to develop it

Somewhere in the net, somebody published that the stadiums in Germany can accomodate 100k seaters. In fact, if my memory serves me right, the stadium of which Bayern Munich team is playing in, can seat nearing 100k and it is always full, because of its low price.

However, despite the 100k seater, the matchday revenue is far lesser than teams in EPL.

The article later suggests of finding the sweet spot of maintaining the number of seats that locals can come into, and the number of seats that OOTs, the corporates, the hospitality-revenue-driven-visitors, etc.

To which somebody suggested we could have 100k seater and still fill them all. The only question is, can we find that 'sweet spot' of the corporate-priced-tier sitting? If FSG can do that, we won't have to worry much about expanding the stadium. I'm in for it.
edit: double posted

edit 2: addition.

if my memory serves me right, nothing can stop Anfield's redevelopment. However, the "right to light" issues remain to stand, and the city council isn't happy because they are not getting the cut of a good share in the redevelopment (because by developing Stanley Park they get a bigger cut)
*
the fact that from what I heard the waiting list for the season tickets is very long . Now I am trying to figure out how to buy a ticket to watch a match there in the next 2 months.I found out the problems facing by the locals and tourists on how limited the tickets for a match day.

For me , I think we definitely need a new stadium as soon as possible. The condition of the stadium is not as good as the other more recognizable stadium.

True that, we have always performed well above expectation for the big games in the past couple of seasons but that it worries me everytime we managed a good result against a big team because more often than not we will end up losing/drawing to a lesser club in the next match.

Added on June 19, 2012, 5:56 am
Is that so? Anfield has been around since 1884 compared to Old Trafford 1910 so we are like only 30 years apart yet our condition is not comparable? That is only so because Old Trafford has been subjected to several expansion and refurbishments since construction and there is plan to further develop/expand the venue in the future.
*
It is either a new stadium or a big renovation . I been looking around the surrounding of the stadium and found out many abandoned home that built too near to the stadium. Issue of new stadium will come out soon or later , the stadium is built to near to the neighbourhood compare to old trafford. There is not much parking spaces compared to old trafford , and I can say it is quite far from the city itself. My first impression toward the stadium is not as what I expected .

you guys can google up anfield stadium on google map , zoom in and double click ..you can view the street and stadium condition .Well , not to be disrespect , but I think old trafford did a better job in honouring their munich victim compared to us .

It isn't the biggest thing if you compare it against TV rights, merchandising and sponsorship deals but nonetheless, it's important. Who is saying otherwise though? So far it's been all talk no action.
A new stadium means a massive expansion. I know there is a queue for season tickets but that's because they can be handed down generations and the Kop can only seat that many people. Unless a family has no lineage, season tickets will be inherited by the next of kin, hence the waiting list. With such an expansion in mind, filling seats for smaller games might be a problem. Also, the higher overheads I mentioned earlier. I don't think aesthetics are as important as the points I've mentioned. Anfield is in pretty good condition though. It's rustic but it isn't exactly falling apart. I remember it to be clean and well maintained.

Added on June 19, 2012, 8:15 am

I've been to both stadiums but I don't get what you mean. The victims of Hillsborough are officially honoured every year. There is a plaque where people place wreaths every home game. There are also plaques in the Anfield museum. Also I think more Liverpool fans know about Hillsborough as compared to mancs who know about Munich. Don't follow your point.

Added on June 19, 2012, 8:44 amThere has been a lot of talk over who we may buy. Cavani, De Jong and so on. Fact is that without CPL football, we may well be looking at players under the radar who have potential but haven't made waves in the press. Also with the purchases of Agustien and Vorm, Rodgers could be looking to the Eredivisie for help. Cue Wilfried Bony.

I dont like the idea they place the memorial at the back door near to shankly gate. During off match day the place is too quiet , and seriously anyone went to stadium by cab probably wont know the location of the memorial.Old trafford in the other hand placed all the memorial in their tunnel.

I havent visit inside of Anfield yet. Will visit the tour tomorrow and take few pictures to show my points.

Well that was a question as I've never been to Anfield so many you would know more, was just wondering how run-down Anfield is.

As for the abandoned houses, I believe they were bought out by the club some time ago for future expansion purposes.

We were linked with this defensive midfielder kid from Celtic. Finesse power big man, a hybrid of Hamann and Sissoko.
*
Bukit Jalil > old trafford > Anfield in term of capacity , parking space and the stadium appearance itself. I walk all the way to Anfield from liverpool city and the stadium is surround by housing area. I will try to look around the facilities inside stadium and share few pictures here. Even the price stadium tour and match day ticket are almost the same to old trafford so the fans deserve a better and wider place to watch football.

I think it's placed in a quiet place intentionally for those who take it seriously. Out of respect for the victims and their families, it shouldn't be used as a tourist attraction where people will want to have their smiling pictures taken.. I remember during my tour that they never mentioned where it was. I asked the guide and he told me. So in this sense, I think it's appropriate to place it in a secluded location. I think it's respectful not to use it as a commercial tool to draw tourists.
*
I think if it is part of the club history it should be introduce and teach by the staff to the supporters. I went to old trafford and how the tour guide mentioned about the munich disaster , the clock that gave by munich government to the stadium itself .It is quite incredible feeling walking thru the tunnel with all the memorial and tragedies that happened to the club.I like the way how passion the tour guide mentioned bout the tragedy of a football team that die for their football club as he did mentioned about the Hillsborough tragedy as well that lead to the new seating in the stadium in the whole nation. From there I know a young player Duncan Edwards that probably got a very good future with the national team if he didnt passed away from the tragedy.

Just in my opinion , they should have a better place for the memorial and not at the back door of the stadium. Indeed the word memorial refer to a memory of a certain event and person. .Shame to those who smile while taking pictures of the memorial.

Photos of Hillsborough can be seen in the Anfield museum. It's one thing to talk about Hillsborough and show pictures of it, but it's quite another to have tourists take pictures of a memorial where the bereaved families and friends of the victims pay their respects. It isn't a tourist attraction. Hardly the same as a bunch of pictures in a tunnel. The Hillsborough Justice office is located a few doors away from Anfield. Fans can learn all about Hillsborough there.

maybe I will have different opinions after I visited the museum. Thanks again duke for the email ,waiting for the reply. I try to take as many pictures as I can .

laugh.gif Awesome..

btw..are they still got the Boot Room there? where exactly is it??
*
halo there

yea , the previous boot room already been converted to press conference room , where you can see the picture near to the conference table. It was previously boot room with 12x12 small room that feel few legends including Joe Fagan , Bill Shankly , Bob Paisley..I cant remember another one. The next generation of boot room are Graeme Souness Kenny Dalglish and few more legends. Back in past the team all trained in stadium and Anfield when there is still no Melwood yet (liverpool training ground) Bill Shankly convert the boot room that used to store boot to a small meeting room.

Rafael Benitez like the history of the club thus bring back the new boot room located inside the home dressing room .I did take a picture of the door that lead to the boot room.It is a small room for manager to discuss tactics and strategies. Brendan Rodgers the new manager already stated that he wanted to keep the tradition and use the boot room to discuss strategy this season.

Tour guide said it was locked so we cant see how was it inside the bootroom. Kinda interesting when he mentioned since the boot room being coverted to make way for conference room we didnt win the title..it sound superstitious but that is what the people in the stadium believe the importance of boot room to the club.

Ian Callaghan - Hold the record for the most appearances in liverpool shirt. His amazing record 640 appearances and only received one yellow card in his entire career.

Phil Neal - 9 consecutive season without a rest . 417 matches without being subs out .

Correct me if my info are wrong..Mostly listen from the tour guide .

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing. When I first got out of the cab, tears filled my eyes man. The feeling was so surreal. I imagine you must have felt the same. I didn't get to go into the dressing room though as it was a day before the match sad.gif
*
Yea , have a good time yesterday. The fact I walk there 3 times make it even sweeter. My place to the stadium probably 35 minutes by walking. Just cant forget the feeling that I am in the stadium where we beat Juventus , chelsea and Manu last season. I heard alot from my friends who are not liv fans about how small and how old the stadium we having now.

Luckily the tour guide did mentioned bout the Hillsborough memorial that was placed outside

Nice picture bro. Feel like want to go there again. Just miss the place..

2 for 1 .. the museum is not as big for the most decorated club in british football. The tour guide only brought us to tunnel , conference room ,dressing room and kopites area.

thanks for the virual tour. hope i can someday visit there myself

the place does look a bit aged
*
even though the place look bit old but still full with emotions on every part of the stadium. I still think we need a better or new stadium and keep the old stadium . You can see clearly there are not much modern facilities inside stadium and I think we have a very small room for conference and dressing room.
