hi guys, just want to ask if you guys happen to do the 1st service (1000 kilo), do you need to make an appointment first with the SC or rather just bring your car to any SC and just get the service done? Went to Servis Mesra Bandar Baru Bangi yesterday but had to make an appointment first an they set the date on 7th July next month.
*
It depend on the volume .... if no cars than no need appointment. But if you stay in crowded area I believe you definitely need to make an appointment first.

When I wanted to do the service in PG I need to make reservation more than a week, but when I went to KB, Kelantan the other day I just walk in to the service center early in the morning and within 5 minutes my car dock into their service bay already.

I also notice engine hiccup occasionally during idling but not that severe. So far My EB is serving me good putting aside the expected CVT noise < 40km and fan turning ON when engine off ... mileage is 3.5k km.

My complaint list

- Tapping signal too short (5X)
- Rocking seat (can feel it during breaking)
- CVT noise @ < 40km/h ( But not very obvious and acceptable to me)
- Occasional small Engine hiccup during idling and when A/C kick in.
- Noises ??? -- I think this is quite subjective. I can hear some wind noise and small rattling but acceptable to me .... even a slightly more expensive cars are not free from some noises. Of course I do not compare with luxury cars that build for perfection.

Added on July 2, 2012, 4:34 pmI just purchased the Philip X-treme Vision to replace the current stock bulb.

Unfortunately I was unable to remove the stock bulb, I have been removing bulbs many time with other car brands, including older proton and it just a snap. However the exora bulb seem to stick/glued to the power socket and I can't remove it. Not sure if I was doing it wrongly or something wrong with the bulb assembly.

Anyone here has remove the bulb?.

Damn ... really getting cold feet on my booking for the Exora Bold Premium CFE. No doubt it is cheap compared to the other MPV in terms of size and features but problems and issues read here kinda scary.  rclxub.gif

Honestly I was discourage from buying the EB going through problems highlighted in this forum, however after talking to few EB owners I continue to proceed with my booking. Agree there are legitimate problems highlighted in here but it is still small compare to bigger population of EB on the road with no major issues.

So I took a calculated risk and proceed with my EB order, the fact that I cannot find a better offering for < 100k also play a big role in my decision. So far I'm happy with my choice and hope the car will continue to be free from major problem for many years to come.

Klate dude, maybe your badge already problem free leh.. I do had the same ride as yours (Unser 1.8) before, tis
baby had serving me 7 years (clock 245k km) b4 I decided to sell it off. Maybe I'm too optimistic, comparing Toyota
& Proton.. All that I remembered I replaced for this unser is a piece of rubber tube.. But again, comparison on the
ride, EB is so much comfortable.. nod.gif
Wonder why don't they juz dump in the mivec 2.0 engine??? brows.gif
*
Agree ... I bought the Unser in 2001, beside regular oil change what I can remember is patching up the radiator twice for small leak and a minor repair on throttle body to fix rought engine. Other than that the baby is trouble free even I abuse it kaw ...kaw .... Push RPM close to red line everytime climbing hill on the way back to Kelantan from Penang. It still serve me well till today, tu sayang nak let go even after getting the EB.

i thought unser super under power?
*
Lets put this way Unser is having 94hp and 155Nm of torque compare to 138hb and 210Nm for EB. So it is a big different compare to EB.

I'm satisfied with Unser just that I always having mental torture if need to drive for long distance, reason being I cannot drive slower than 130km/h for long hours .... else I'll fall asleep after 1hr driving. And to drive Unser above 130km/hr is very tiring because of the loud engine noise and slow pickup from 120km - 140km.

And of course EB is few level up comfort wise smile.gif

very tough n reliable..but hardly comfortable.
good for carrying stuff tongue.gif

but why you guys didnt consider innova?
*
Innova was on my list ......but since I don't really need just another car I keep waiting for the right MPV with good value for money that meet my spec. Innova offering is not good enoug to make me change to another car.

When Exora CFE came out it was never in my list either (I do not trust Proton Quality) but my friend push me to test drive the car. After the test drive I kena racun already. THis is the car that I need - people mover, sexy look, aircond all round, good power, not too big for daily use, RM90 road tax, dvd player, sport rim, bla...blaa...bla ... and for 80k. So here I am stuck with EB ...... but again so far I'm happy with my EB, hope it stays that way for long time to come tongue.gif

why not wait till almost empty? better average IMO

Either method should be OK depending on the reason. In this case I believe he wanted to compare apple to apple - same highway route. Right?.

Turbocrazy,

I drive the W124 before .... a comfort and relaible car and not expensive to mantain. Am thinking to get the E220 ... but too many cars in garage now.

If I'm not mistaken there are 4 modes to select for display. I forgot the icon associate with them- you can refer to the manual.

1. instant fuel consumption
2. Average fuel consumption
3. Distance can travel before Empty
4. Total travel time.

When using the #2 (Average fuel consmption) you should reset the meter every now and then to be more accurate.

TurboCrazy,

I 100% agree on the Merce comfort even though sudah tua .... Most European Car are well known for that.

My understanding is the higher the RON the harder to burn the fuel thus better for high compression engine (powerfull engine). In other word RON95 will burn faster than RON97 which no good for performance engine.

If the engine already design to work with RON95 it should be OK to use RON95, and using higher RON will be better I guess.

If the engine design to work with RON97 or higher than it is not good to use RON95 since the fuel will burn/ignite faster than the engine spec thus the engine is NOT at it optimum performance.

I did switching From Ron95 to RON97 for my Volvo 850T5 few times to see if it does improve the ride.

Going from RON95 to RON97 make my car feel worst initially and getting better over time. Same experience going back to Ron95 from RON97. So I feel no point keep switching since my car minimum requirement can take RON95.

My theory on why it behave that way is since the car has an active ECU, the car will learn and adjust the ignition timing accordingly to the fuel characteristic. When uou switch to RON97 from RON95, the car ECU setting is still for RON95 so it will be bad initially but getting better eventually after the car had adjusted to the RON97 timing. Going back to RON95 will have same effect.

UNless I'm pushing my car to the limit which make full use of high compression capability (I won't do that since the car can go well beyond 200km/h) than I don't need to use RON97.

But, from my experience for my old W124 merc, using ron 95 can hear the valves knocking sound while 97 dun have..
What I know is 97 has higher octane while 95 has less which means 97 performs better..
*
Improper ignition timing (due to lower RON rating) can cause knocking ..... what is the W124 engine spec? If its original spec call for RON97 than using RON95 is not the best.

Octane ratingFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search

Octane rating or octane number is a standard measure of the performance of a motor or aviation fuel. The higher the octane number, the more compression the fuel can withstand before detonating. In broad terms, fuels with a higher octane rating are used in high-compression engines that generally have higher performance. In contrast, fuels with low octane numbers (but high cetane numbers) are ideal for diesel engines. Use of gasolines with low octane numbers may lead to the problem of engine knocking.[1]

Recd my exora bold e/brown 4  July. Here is my initial review:

Surprised:
The engine is quieter and more refined than all the 3 units of exora bold i test drove back in Jan - Feb 12. The test units feel and sound rough and unrefined, just like my gen2 campro.

Interior/Exterior:
1.the quality of the stalk switches (light/wiper), aircond vents, up to Japanese standard. The rest , although not flimsy , has thin plastic material/cheap feel.
2.The front seats too small. My thighs (also almost turbo thighs myself) seem to be on the seat thigh support rather than within it.
Agree with you ... but I still do not notice the Grrrrr sound going over pot-hole, just a solid "bummm" which is expected. Need to hunt for more pot hole smile.gif

I also feel something wrong with the front seat, my leg feel tired after long driving but still cannot figure out wheter it is really my leg getting old or something not right with the seat. I suspect the front support is higher than normal even if I adjust to the lowest, it could have been pressing my thigh limiting the blood circulation thus causing leg fatique.

blush.gif haha. sorry

what's the benefit of it and when we should use it?

reading the Manual, one should use SAT if they don't like the smoothness of the CVT.
SAT should emulate the 6 SPEED AT so you can feel the gear change.
