Take my EB for balek kampung (from Penang to Kelantan) last Saturday - sharing my experience.

Minuses
- Experience engine die twice, one during reverse and another when going forward from parking. In both incident I put the gear to reverse/Drive immediately after start the engine.
- Don't think the fuel is that save, it just so-so. I expect better consumption coming from a 1.6l engine

Plusses
- Power is good going uphill and downhill with ease, one thing is I don't think I experience any engine braking. Can overtake other cars with confidant .... but of course I loose to those who take risk to overtake at double line/corners when a slow vehicle is hogging the road
- Handling is good, took corners with confidance.
- Don't feel tired driving 5 hrs straight with one 20mins stop for prayer... I think because of the higher sitting position compare to car, the power is good enough for overtaking and kids have good space to keep them comfortable and quite.

I also experimented the SAT function ....feel have more instant power when floor the pedal campare to in D. But the low speed experience is rougher than in D.

My overall comment, if Proton can take care the OWV/OCV and some complaint on the aircond with reliable CVT gear (at this time has no knowledge of anyone having CVT problem yet)... this can be a good decent MPV to own. Pretty good looking and good compromise size for both daily usage as well as balek kampung.

Yes care to share how to convert..... is Papago better than lokatoo?.
I'm familiar with Garmine. Try to play around with Lokatoo but not very familiar thus hard to operate.

plan to get the cocoa grey. Looks classic but other hand looks like sh*t color also. hmmm, any idea how long to wait for the delivery of the car?
*
Personally Cocoa Greay nice when it is clean and shining but not so nice if not clean. I was considering the cocoa grey before but endup with silver.

Waiting time is very much depending on the outlet availability and SA... go to less populated outlet if wanted to get faster.

Want to check on the 1st 1,000km service, are there any special work done like reflash of the ECU etc for the EB premium. Since my unit do not have any major prob , I thought of just going to those smaller authorised service center and get it done quickly.

Another question, where  is the gearbox oil dipstick location (if any). Could not find it anywhere near the CVT gb.
*
My 1k service was simply change engine oil and filter ... that it. Done in 45mins. Oh forgot they also forced me to buy the magnetic ring or something like that (forget the exact name call).

Added on July 31, 2012, 9:07 pmI play more with lokatoo and after becoming more familiar with its function I found that it is not very bad. At least it come with Junction View. However I found quiet few POI are outdated, garmine is more updated. Believe Garmine is more recent because it is a community effort Vs one company effort.

Thanks bro .... it work like a charm. Your instruction is very clear and Screenshot of your directory setup is very useful.

Papago is pretty easy to use and self explain, I was able to use right away without having prior experience. Map is updated and accurate just like Garmine (come from the same community effort).

Got a call from my SA today. He said that I can collect my car this coming Friday. So happy and can't wait to hop in and start driving..

It really surprise me for the car to arrive in just 2 weeks time since ppl are saying the EB premium is in hot demand.

Any good suggestion for car detailing and tinted packages?

TQ

Added on August 1, 2012, 9:03 pmWhat oil did the EB premium use if we service at authorized Proton service center?

Will they allow us to bring our own oil if we can get it cheaper outside?
*
Congratulation on the new ownership. Other than the OCV and OWV problems that experience by few owners here I personally feel there car is indeed a great car.

For the oil the service center will normally use the Petronas Synthium 1000 fully synthetic unless you ask them to use different grade. I ask them to use Synthium 800 instead.

Hi All bro here,
I am a newbie here. Received my EB in June2012.
About 2 weeks after, my EB had problem.
While waiting at traffic light (with engine running) out of suddend "CVT alarm" indiciated at panel. Try press the fuel paddle but car not moving. So call proton hotline, where he advise to off engine, open front bonet & disconnet battery terminal.
Then he asked to re-connet battery terminal.
After, "CVT alarm" cleared. Can move as usual.

But what really frustrating me was yesterday (about 1.5 months after above incident).
"CVT alarm" indicated at panel when slowing down upon road hump. Off the engine for 1 min then switch on. "CVT alarm" cleared and i start the engine. Moving again. Then it happened again! Argh....
This thing happened 4 times yesterday.
Finally i gave up, drive back home (luckily not too far from home) and switch my other car.
Hmmm....bad experience to me.
Anyone can share/help me in this matter.
To the extend i feel like to sell my EB now!

In dire need....huh

If related to CVT you can throw the question at the autoworld forum http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php?showforum=43

If you are lucky the Punch Powertrain CVT engineer may response to your question directly.

If I'm not mistaken there was another such complain in the outoworld forum. The sympthom is the engine RPM suddenly dip below 800 and the CVT light come out. Explaination from kristof (CVT engineer) could be related to engine RPM too low for CVT oil pump to work. In other word for that incident could due to OCV problem that causing engine to die (low RPM).
