Thanks Deo for your comment. Yeah, I am aware of the CPF policies. My main purpose to obtain 1 is for easier job hop. Still putting it under review then.
So you plan to stay very long term ? Lol

For me no immediate benefit for PR application cos my company pays me the employer CPF as part of salary. And also no money tongue.gif ... when I save up enough to plonk down for HDB then I'll think about applying for PR.

waa.. xtra 16% every month!!! makan kenyang kenyang!!

Same thing as SC/SPR's lor, only difference is that mine comes into my account so that I end up spending it all, vs SC/SPR who get the same amount but in forced savings with decent dividends.

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Jul 25 2012, 11:28 PM)
Based on this link, employers are not required to encash Employer's CPF contribution to EP/SP/WP holders, however is it possible to ask for it? And what's the rate? 9%?

Employer CPF is 16% capped at $5000 (i.e. $800/month). You can ask but I doubt it would be a favorable reply because a company would have to either give ALL WP holders or none at all.

i received LHDN letter by yesterday, wat to do?

Your income (and tax) in MY and SG are totally unrelated. SG income pay SG tax, MY income pay MY tax.

You didn't mention what your LHDN letter said, so can't give much advice as to what you need to do. I'm guessing you worked part of the year in MY and then came to SG and didn't bother to file Tax in MY?

My friend in RIM, he kena retrenched last year. Turned up for work in the morning as usual, then suddenly his Staff ID cannot open the doors. Go and ask reception, they said ooh ... come this way sir, then put him in a room together with all the other ppl who got retrenched.

He didn't even get to go back to his desk, the security ppl cleared out all the belongings and gave to him in a box.

Besides, they have their instant Singaporeans (from China) to play for them, ie. Tianwei for table tennis!

Because Malaysia definitely doesn't do that and only lets "real" Malaysian represent at any games, right? icon_idea.gif

need some advice from sifu here, i working in a contact center with WP, is it easy to rent a whole unit with my colleague cause no owner, we can cook or bring friend or family stay for few day.

Yes, it is easy. Process is no different from renting a room. The complexity is can you afford it? 3 bedroom apartment is $2000++ per month. Initially let's say 4-5 of you share the entire unit then it's fine, but what happens down the road when (for example) 2 guys leave and you can't find an immediate replacement?

Depends on which part of Singapore you work.

Need some help here, everyone heard about the new rules stating that SG PR cannot rent out the house for the first 5 yrs, right?
I found out there is another condition behind this rules, that is if you already rent out the house for more than 5 years, you cannot rent the house again, is that true?
anyway to deal this kind of situation? it is a urgent matter, really need help !!

http://www.asiaone.com/Business/News/Story...711-358484.html

"... new revisions made to the rules and regulations mean that flat owners with permanent residency will only be allowed to sublet their flats for a maximum of one year, and only if they are doing so for the first time.
Furthermore, applications to extend approvals will be assessed at the end of one year on a case-by-case basis only, with the total period of subletting a flat capped at five years."

HDB only. Private & Commercial Properties not affected.

OMG  shocking.gif
Even if the PR owner stay in the house still cannot subletting the house right? any solution for this situation? now must find room rent out from singaporean already... cry.gif  cry.gif

Ask chessgal or your agent for confirmation cos I taktaulol.

My understanding is that subletting in this case refers only to renting out the entire flat, and not to individual rooms. Because if you read that asiaone link I posted, it says:

"Under the old rules, all flat owners -- both Singaporeans and PRs -- who meet the minimum occupation period could apply to rent out their flats for a period of three years."

MOP only applies when an owner wants to rent out the entire flat. If the owner wants to rent out just a bedroom, there is no such concept as MOP. For room rental, HDB approval isn't even required, owners only need to inform HDB (sos). So I would conclude that if you are renting a room (or renting out a room), these new regulations do not affect you.

I have applied a lot of the job post on jobstreet.com or jobsdb. I did apply both through website as well as e-mail to them, but I din get any call for interview. why? Feels like these employer not really need employee but they still keep repeating posting the same job. Is this the real way to find job?

Lots of reasons. Maybe your experience/education is not as good as other candidates. Maybe they don't want to go through the hassle of hiring foreigners. etc etc. Maybe your CV is rubbish and anyone who sees it immediately tosses it into the rubbish bin.

Haiz, now i know if you voilate the regulations set up by HDB, they have the right to seal your house and not allowing you to take your thing, but i thought if the agreement signed before  the new rules and regulations (the house cannot be rent out by PR after already sublet for 5 years) be effective, it wont affect the agreement? but why now i will facing this kind of problem where i might be forced to move out?

Are you basing this "I thought" on some sort of communication from the government, or from your agent? Or are you just assuming?

Either way, since your house owner (I suppose is PR) is unable to renew the approval with HDB, perhaps your assumption is false and the government says that "5 years means 5 years, no more" lor.

how i wish my company has corporate plan for their staff.  shakehead.gif

get one of your friends / family who's working in a bigger company to sign up a plan on your behalf.

just to share, my company's iphone plan is $38/mth for 2 years, 500sms 12gb data 500minutes/mth, $0 down for the 32gb iP4S. If you calculate that, you pay $912 over 2 years which is $176 less than what you would pay for the phone retail from apple store.

too bad 3 phone quota/staff used up liao tongue.gif

what if the parent decide not letting the children to permanent stay in SG? like give to grandmother to raise and study in Malaysia, then noneed serve right?

Wow...no matter where you are, unless you not going in the country anymore, you have to serve NS.

you never see what ivan said?

QUOTE(ivanswk @ Aug 13 2012, 02:27 PM)
^ then u dun apply PR for your babyloh, then no need NS  blush.gif

as a PR, your kids don't automatically get PR, you have to apply for them. If you don't want them to go for NS then don't apply PR for them then they no need to serve.

Do note that if you apply PR for them, and they decide to renounce PR to avoid NS, they will be persona non grata in SG. Cannot work here cannot re-apply PR cannot do anything.

I am going for this job interview in singapore. They're offering up to 3000SGD
can i live comfortably with 3000SGD in singapore?
What are the taxes that i should be aware of?

Different people have different definition of "comfortable." Are you currently already working in KL, and if yes, what's your current salary / expenditure?
SG income tax is lower than MY income tax.
