To know is the confinement lady are good or not, asking her some simple questions will know.
Must know :
1. every women after deliver sure have milk, is matter of time(from 3-7 days)
2. know how to use traditional herbs to prepare soup, drink everyday
3. have knowledge on jaundis and to counter it with natural ways
4. know how to cook and not waiting for orders
5. able to maintain cleanliness of baby and mother
6. know how to keep baby awake on day time, so night time baby can sleep better

Must not :
1. talk too much especially talking on other people
2. using pampers every time
3. have 0 knowledge on using traditional herbs

Sadly, the confinement lady that we got and mother in law can't do a single on must know but do all the must not doh.gif

I had a very worst experienced at De Garden confinement center.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/De-Garden-Co...241910242660999

We took single room during the confinement and pay RM5000 per month. Money not a concern for us but the concept is a problem for us. It may not bad for all people so you have to judge yourself.

Cons:
1. Not breastfeed friendly. They always request you to mix with formula milk.
2. Not direct latch friendly. They discourage direct latch and insist to pump then bottle feed. They will always ask you to pump and don't direct latch.
3. Insist use of pacifier. It make baby addicted with it and harder to take care after back home.
4. Baby not allow to stay in mommy room too long.
5. Baby not allow to sleep with mom even if for the reason of direct latch.
6. If father in the room (single room only of course), baby not allow to enter the room.
7. Father not allow to touch the baby. Even there are hand sanitizer in the center.
8. They will very seldom carry the baby for mother especially direct latch. They will knock your door and ask you to nursery to carry your baby if you want direct latch. Most of the time they will ask you to direct latch at nursery room. So you need to get latching cloth for cover else every visitor can see your breast outside the nursery.
9. For bottle feed, they will ask you to nursery room for bottle feed. Not allow to bring back to room.
10. Midnight shift nanny usually sleeping. So don't expect them to allow direct latch or carry baby to you.
11. They don't clean baby ears for you. So you need to do it yourself.
12. The nannies are not friendly if you are focus on breast feed especially direct latch.
13. They will keep complain if you pump not enough breast milk.
14. The nannies are very lazy. Don't expect to request help from them.

Pros:
1. Sufficient food and drinks for mother. Most of the time is traditional food, sometimes there are western food.
2. Enough rest for mother if you are on full formula milk because they won't come disturb you at all.
3. The maid is very polite and friendly.
Basically if you are looking for breast feed friendly confinement center, this is absolutely NOT a place for you. If you are looking for confinement that you can sleep the entire night and discourage husband from coming, this is a good place for you. So it is actually priority on mommy that baby.

Hi I'm a mother staying at De Garden before ... I'm not really have lots milk to supply my son so
1. I agree with mix cos my milk not not enough for my son and my son keep crying and hungry so I mix till my milk supply is enough then I go for full BF
2. I personally direct in day and night I prefer rest and sleep
3. My 1st baby also I go there .. In confinement take pacifier after 3 months my girl also don't take anymore and my 2nd son too after confinement don't eat d so cannot eddicted to pacifier so I got no worries on this
4&5. I agree with the rules because we need more rest if baby keep sleeping with me I will not have good rest although bonding is important but I also need rest la .. Beh tahan to hear them cry ... After my confinement I miss to stay there cause go home I kelam kabut can't get to rest
6&7. Father not allow to touch I agree also although my hubby wanted to carry very much. I'm ok wt it cos understand daddy might bring virus from outside and baby antibody still weak
8. I no commend
9. Just let nanny feed la we pay for their service ma why wanna feed by ourself ?
10. Night usually nanny sleep when baby sleeping .. I saw wt my eyes when baby cry they wake up feed .. No wrong and nannies also human la .. U go other places where mother can't go in eh what happening inside also nobody knows .. Haha
11. No commend
12. Repeat problems from the top.. If can go in baby room u must open 1 ear close 1 ear else better choose confinement that mother can't get to go in baby room ... Here open for mother to see feeding whereas other places can't go in you won't know what goin on inside
13. Yaya beginning I also not enough milk supply so how? I also can't do anything and my son need milk so what i do I continue latch during day 3 times only cos too tired every hour direct and can't get to rest so I mix till my milk supply is a lot then I stop formula
14. Nannies lazy?? I feel they quite responsible, they operate 7 years already and those nannies very experienced I have been there twice and I'm satisfied wt new rules or else last time baby can bring out for visitors which is not good for babies

Overall okay I feel cos if you prefer 1 to 1 or fully attention I advice you take confinement lady but confinement lady no garentee you can have good rest or know to handle baby well. I know now atleast got breastfeeding talk to help and guide new mothers which are good compare to last time I stay. And if you not happy why you dint talk to the person incharge there?? Now after your confinement only you commend? Atleast you tell them and they can take action right. The lady Angie is there everyday what.

Fong Chai Confinement Center not bad. Nice food and portion are big. Most important is they only take in not more than 5 mummies and each mummies have dedicated CL.

Thanks Lin Lin.
I have booked with Fong Chai/Aim Confinement center.
After reading on the news on Mom Paradise, I feel glad that I do not choose them. They can take up to 19 mothers and babies at one time which we do not like.
Choose Fong Chai because they take in only limited number of mother.

Country Living Confinement Center in Penang is a trickery confinement center!
1. I didn't see any doctor visiting mummy for whole month
2. Nurse is a part time nurse, not 24 hours nursing care
3. Is a formula milk consultant confinement center, not 'breastfeeding consultant', they stored my breast milk with their food fridge. And they also give you the information that your breastfeeding is not enough for your baby, use your formula milk first
4. Not encourage direct breast feeding, because they can't make a beautiful feeding record for baby and our body is high germ, that is not good for baby
5. Boss is a marketing professional, she will promote you to buy protein and honey. After you bought it, your breakfast, tea time or supper will be drink your own drink, not beverage provide from them
6. Boss will encourage you to take bath everyday, so that she can charge you RM15 after you finished 4 free herbal baths
7. After you fully paid the confinement fees, the attitude of boss will change
8. Meals served not on time
9. Curtain at baby room will close when the nanny is not enough, so that you cannot see your baby and the situation in the baby room
10. They will send your baby to you anytime, including midnight, when they can't handle your baby, they will say that your baby is naughty and don't want to sleep
11. The environment looks nice but when raining day, the dining room and the second floor corridor will leaking
12. Only fan during dining and living room(the aircon at living room is not so cold)
13. I hated to have fried rice as my breakfast, at lease twice a week, when yesterday the rice still left
14. Boss will complain if your room aircon temperature below 24 degrees and always remind you that you have to switch off aircon when you leave your room for meals
Conclusion is mummy cannot take a good rest in country living confinement center. First, mummy have to walking up and down at least 10 times per day(5 for having meals, others will be send your pump materials for nanny washing or meet you visitor. Second, your baby don't have a good care during night shift, it will caused you can't have a good sleeping quality at night.

Anyone stayed in Bonda Villa recently?

What's the package like, and more importantly, experience to share?

Thanks.

Bondavilla is really good! You get what you pay for: cloth nappies, clothes for newborn, branded organic toiletries for yourself and baby, multiple meals per day with portion that is not small as you need all the nutrients for body and breastfeeding, sleep on Getha bed, herbal bath, post natal massage covered depending on package (if you want, extend the post natal package), meal and laundry for father (which is really important as I needed my husband by my side daily). The drinks provided to keep your milk supply up is refillable as much as you want and they will change it for you every day.

I stayed there recently as I wanted peace of mind, and most importantly to be able to breastfeed. The nurses and consultants were very patient with me and my baby, and eventually I managed to breastfeed fully.

If you are not into full breastfeeding, this is not the place for you as the nurses will come knocking the door for direct latch every 2 hours. If you're up to it, then you're encouraged to have baby sleeping with you so that you can bond even more and to feed on demand. I got a lot of tips in this place ie how to burp the baby, how to feed the baby correctly, how to store pumped milk, how to baby wear etc. If you're lucky, you get to join classes arranged by the place. The recent one I attended is how to massage baby, which is very beneficial for me to increase bonding time and also to soothe when baby is colicky or is teething.

I have amazing experience there and it helps that I happen to stay nearby the place. I get visitors and since it's a big semi-d, the living room is big enough to cater to a big group of family members. Of course we have to be mindful of other mothers who want rest and not make a ruckus.

Last year I had my confinement in Bondavilla for my twin babies. It is not as good as my expectation. The fee is about RM12,000 for 28 days,
but i just stayed for one week and decided to give up and i compensated 50% about RM6000 to them.
I have very good supply of breastmilk, before i stay in Bondavilla, I used breast pump to pump out in hospital so that I can keep some stock after I go to work and my boys can drink the stock.

After i checked in Bondavilla, i only knew that they are not allow to use breast pump unless you get special approval from their management because they said they are breast feeding friendly centre and they want mum to direct latch their baby. They said I have oversupply and insisted that I cannot manual express or pump after direct latch because they want to help me to reduce my supply. My breast was engorged for the whole night.
Another mummy opposite my room also face the same problem. She has fever after bondavilla doesnt allow her to use the breast pump, the breast is engorged.
After few times complaint and negotiation, finally they allowed us to use breastpump inside the room.

The business owner and lactation consultant will come to centre to take care the mummy.
However, almost all of the nurses are very young and they are not mother yet, the most experience nurse is only two years experience.

My premie doesnt know how to suck the breast milk well and the nurse inserted their finger into my baby for mouth stimulation without washing their finger in advance. The lactation consultant also inserted her finger without washing in advance and her nail is very long. I really do not like it.

Overall, the environment in Bondavilla is very clean and comfortable. Bed is also high quality. Food is nice. but i do not like their in house rules. I think they are too commercialized and the nurse is not caring enough.
It is depend on person. I think for certain person who enjoy direct latch and dont like to use breast pump, it might be good place for them.
