Hey, thanks... so far in the midst of securing two hearbeats of spring...

other than ebay, is there an MTG community that goes online to trade?!

For me Ebay is so far the best place to buy Magic or perhaps if there is a huge Magic toruney happenning here, surely most player will bring their Magic folders. There will be a Nationals Qualifiers tourney this sunday. Btw, my fren will be droping by CC SJ on Saturday, he will be bringing his folder also. I will be meeting up with him.

it doesn't get more local than LYN. better post here if you want local stuff or just go to a shop on tournie day. like XenoFr3ak said, ebay is the best place to buy, if you have paypal.

There is a small type one community but sad to say most of the Type 1 action is still in the US. The problem is getting the players to play type one. Expensive cards etc are hindering the process.

As for Vintage cards, yes there are some but they are quite expensive as they are sold by the dealers. Some pro-players have type 1 cards, and since UK is the second biggest MTG market (according to US sites) you can get them at pro-tours etc.

I can check out the cards for ya. I'm not too sure where to look as I've just entered the UK mtg scene not too long ago.

The lastest expansion will be Coldsnap .. but its not really that good. Time Spiral will be the start of the new block. After Time Spiral is officially out, Kamigawa block will phase out ... yippie, no more Jitte to worry about.

i'm interested. but i'll have to proxy a lot of my cards because i don't have most them here with me. we can meet at 1 stop and play there since they've got tables set up.

the latest block is ravnica block (ravnica, guildpact, dissension) but the most recently released set was coldsnap, the "lost" ice age third set.

Anyone here uses Magic Apprentice to play Magic Online, I just downloaded it and looking for ppl to play with ... anyone ??

For u guys who is wondering what was the top 4 decks at the Nats Qualifiers ...

#1. Solar Flare
#2. Solar Flare
#3. Gruul Beats
#4. BW Aggro

Seem to me, Solar Flare is dominating the Magic metagame scene currently.

Solar Flare... I really do not see the hype around this deck. All its major components can only start on turn 3. That's assuming that they have 2lands and a signet in their opening hand. So they can either Wrath or Persecute.

I have no idea why it became first. The only thing I can think of is that it punishes Tron and other control decks. I see no reason why Sea Stompy or any other GU aggro deck with Remands and Manaleaks can't win. Heck even Zoo can give it a run for its money. Orzof decks will also kill it with a turn 2 Castigate.

Am I missing something here?

PS: yeah I play apprentice, but still nothing beats reading the reactions of your opponents IRL smile.gif

i think you're underestimating to power of persecute. there's nothing worse than losing half your hand or more. most solar flare builds runs condemn maindecked and post sideboard they'll have castigates too if needed. its the card drawing/digging plus persecute that actually makes the deck good. without hussar or compulsive, its just crap. i think only mindslicer is the real killer for flare unless they have a mikokoro in play.
