guys, i'm planning to upgrade my t8 lamps 36w x 2 to led floodlights. anyone got experience if i'm ok with 4 x 10W type or need 4 x 20w types for my standard 4ft tank.? the specs are cool white 5000-6000k lights. looking at those china-mari ones...

Possible ar? Sound complicated

can send to the place where u refill the nitrogen gas n ask them to do it. may involve changing the valve to suit.

as i know, nitro n co2 share the same tank specs but pls ask others to confirm.

the balance nitro gas, can release it in a safe place lo... can't really use it in aquascaping..

cheers.

*below the upper gravel are the amazonia soil. i end up used 1 pack of 9L for both side of the 4FT tank.

the "layering" :

plants
--------------------
normal pebble abt 1-2"
---------------------
amazonia about 2.5"
---------------------
sand very fine layer
---------------------
ciplak soil about 1"
---------------------

non planted or 'river' area is only:
---------------------
sand about 2"++
---------------------
ciplak soil about 1"
---------------------

sharing sharing...

flipmode taiko, urs will be similar to mine too hehe... need to collect some loyalty... nyek nyek nyek
*joking* tongue.gif

this way when i first finish setting up : cloudy but u guys can see the DW. quite standard layout. nothing to shout about...

U can add more river sand . Cheap n good, holland sand also ok
*
i used about 10kg worth of sand. depends on how thick you want the base levels.. too thick i think no good. coz sand compress and it will cause your mirror become brown algae or green algae.

i keep it at 1.5-2" when i do my 'river' because the dirt will somehow darken the sand.. so i decide to suck it out when WC. so it will get thinner overtime...

maybe end of the year i will 'replenish' the sand.. haha...

i dont have those high end accessories.
sad.gif
about those lifespan you mention, i have my doubt about it..
did they really test the light for 50000hrs???
hmm.gif
*
estimation.. LED new tech also i dun think got 10years age yet... hehe...

but LED is definitely the way to go. i just ordered 50W flood light for my 4ft... see how i go with it... thumbup.gif either i burn the plants or i grow them like weeds... hehehehe...

actually if you guys wanna do research, PAR is the correct term... the K is meant for human eyes. then again, i can't debate now coz i also learning.. haha...

had you measure the light angle and intensity? LED light has very limited output angle.
some spot might be too bright and some will be very dim.
i think you can see a light beam on your aquarium (which personally i dont prefer).
Anyway, please share out your result after you tested it. Best with pictures smile.gif

yes you are correct. PAR is light intensity measurement, color temperature for human eye. i still research about it though.  rclxub.gif
*
light angle cannot determine until i get the unit. intensity also... measured in CRI? it only mention 5500K lo...which is white basically... the 50w is only for trial.. wanna do it on another 2ft tank.. haha..

bro jiejian, why not put ur diffuser below the outlet? the water gushing out from ur filter will carry the co2 around the tank.

btw, like the last pic. really inspirational flex.gif

nope cos i always over filter my tank,  Like how i instant cycle this tank by porting a aged eheim 2042 hob over from my 2ft tank and get a new eheim 2042 replacement for the 2ft(the 2ft have eheim 2215 still running), then i add in the xb303 & eheim 2213 as well with some old media i take from another tank.
so if i setup a new tank again, i just port over the xb303 or eheim 2042 or both. 'ta ta' instant cycle(if small tank).
*
+1

I did the same thing when transferring my stock from 2ft to 4ft. i transferred the filter over to the 4ft and also half of the old tank water to the new tank. fill it with half fresh pipe water (of coz with anti chlorine) and add 2 angelfishes straight away. cycled it for about 1 week then transferred the rest of 4 more angels.

all happily ever after... have to say, my angels are really good n tough fishes!
