guys, for all of you who have 3ft++ tanks and using really huge rocks as the hardscape, do you put some kind of hard foam or
something underneath the rocks/stones/boulders inside the tank? or you guys dont?
wont the tank base glass crack or break if i dont put them under?
thanx

if no solid answer then apply 'common sense', if you can hide those foam nicely under substrate , better safe than sorry,
use it. biggrin.gif.

actually, amano uses the foam to make it higher and stability purpose.

furthermore, the white foam that you use below your tank is sufficient to even out the pressure of your entire tank over the cabinet / stand. as long as your rocks are not moving inside the aquarium or fishes big enough to rock it, there is no immediate danger of the rock making a crack at your bottom glass.

all above said, i'm referring to general rocks. unless you are talking about a very heavy 30-50KG++ rock...

AI is aquatic breeding factory cum retails, lot of fish(fresh & marine) , minimum shrimps.
But abit run down on certain sections, you can only find cheap stuff if you know the current fish etc market price
as some stuff is more expensive here.

So do some homework on what you want before you go there.
Note : Don't try to look for Aquatics equipment there, very very very few and pricey.

What is your definition of huge? How heavy? I see video of amano setup the 7meter tank.. He put the foams below. I think all depends on surface of your rock and the weight. If rock surface is large but heavy still ok. If rock surface is small but heavy then maybe got problem to the glass that is being pressure.
QUOTE(jiejian @ Aug 7 2012, 01:26 PM)
if im not mistaken i think Mr. Amano put d foam is because he wan the rock to ''present themselves'' more in his scape...
i guess how big a stone will still be bac to the Qs of how thick ur glass is and how r u supporting ur tank...
just my 2 cents..

thanx for the infos. well, truthfully, never saw anyone that i know before using foam when rescaping their 3-4ft tank infront of my eyes.
then i remembered amano using them, thats why im curious.
