From the pictures, it seems like the speakers are located at the front? not the usual spot below the LCD?

IIRC, even the previous 15r speakers located at front.

is the speaker okay? I feel like it's gonna be very weak. I am eying on the 15R as my next laptop because of FHD + 32GB SSD + i7 with 4 USB 3.0 ports..

But I am buying in august, hopefully better laptops will surface.

14R SE is using Nvidia GT640M instead of ATI 7730M...

Curious about the FPS too, though I would be getting the 15R with FHD instead.

Some updates on the pricing from this site:
Inspiron 14R SE Intel® Core™ i7-3612QM-2.1GHz | 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB SATA HDD | NVIDIA® GeForce® GT640M @ RM2709
Inspiron 15R SE Intel® Core™ i7-3612QM-2.1GHz | 4GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB SATA HDD | NVIDIA® GeForce® GT640M @ RM2609
They both come with the 1600X900 Resolution, not sure bout the backlit keyboard though.

Is techhypermart trustable? This specs is awesome because I like 1600x900 resolution. And GT640M for 15R SE.
Or will this be available in dell official store later?
RM2700 is really cheap.

May I know why this is cheaper than the 15R SE in dell website?

http://www.techhypermart.com/notebooks/del...6-notebook.html

RM2609 with everything same except 4GB RAM, this one even better with 1600x900 screen and GT640M GPU.

Since I can always add another 4GB RAM myself, is it better to get this than the RM2999 from dell?

actually this is the roughly priced... i did chat with dell sales n got a quote. 3yr in-home warranty + backlight keyboard is 31xx only... compare to online which is 3340.. warranty is very important for a notebook especially if u are using with dedicated GC, if u buy outside normally they only comes with 1 year warranty. If you are to extended you require to go bac to dell for extension. the price is usually more expensive than u get direct from dell + warranty. So actually after much calculation it is still the same after all. by the way, i opt for 14" cos 15.6" is too heavy for me.
*
You didn't understand my question, the point is not the price. The 15R SE offered in techhypermart has GT640M and 1600x900 screen at RM2609, while the one in Dell website is ATI 7730M (weaker) and 1366x768 screen for RM2999.

You get it? This GT640M spec is NOT available from Dell website and why you all keep telling me Dell can get backlit and fullHD but my question is the GT640M and 1600x900 screen sweat.gif

15 inch screen with 1600x900 screen is just perfect and GT54640M is faster too. Any comment about this? Regardless of the 3 years warranty, is techhypermart trustable?

Dell 15R SE shouldn't have GT640M. Only the Dell 14R SE has it. Do you have the links to the techhypermart?

Here

I am curious about this too, if really 1600x900 with GT640M the gaming performance should be much better than 1920x1080 with 7730M.

you can say so, but you can disable the intel technology and use it as SSD if you want, which is pretty pointless as you can't install much things to a 32GB drive.
*
Bro if I really want to use 32gb ssd as my C drive, it should be faster than using intel RST?

Ya, but it's pretty pointless, as the only optimized will be the operating system and some very limited amount of program installed on it.

It's better to enable the smart response technology

Oh I see, thanks for the info.

Don't think we can help in this... This depends on what you need and if you don't know what softwares you need, you probably need nothing :S

Maybe a good media player (k-lite codec pack), microsoft office, adobe reader?

How to make sure the OS it stored in the SSD?
*
You don't store OS in the SSD, the 32GB mSata SSD is used for Intel SRT caching, to improve overall performance. 32GB is not enough for long term OS usage, you need at least 64GB to be safe.

To be honest, I have no idea.
I would suggest you to try and bargain with a few Dell sales agents, I'm sure they can give some really attractive prices.
One of my friends managed to get a quote for the i7 FullHD Inspiron 15R SE at only RM2.7k- crazy... but in the end he ended up getting a Lenovo Y480 haha  tongue.gif
*
Okay I see. So I just call the dell number right. Haha I don't play games yet I want FHD screen, this dell suits me just right biggrin.gif

anyone here pair an external keyboard with the FHD 15R? do you find it strain your eyes after sometime (due to the distance added with the external keyboard)?
*
How do you find it then? I am ordering a 15R SE with FHD next week and I use an external keyboard as well.

Added on July 30, 2012, 8:03 pmI want to order 15R SE (RM3199 version) with backlit KB and 3 years warranty.

May I know is it cheaper if I buy thru dell chat or direct order using the coupon? I notice direct order myself doesn't have free backpack too.

well, I find it tiring my eyes after a while, mainly because of the extra distance imposed by the external keyboard and the sharp and small text on the FHD screen. Of course you may say that we can always zoom in for reading but that doesn't looks nice, isn't it? Now I'm having a thought on getting an external monitor for my laptop, but then I would be questioning myself why getting a laptop at the first place then, haha sweat.gif
*
But for normal usage without external keyboard, the screen should look crisp and awesome right. I use mostly for multimedia so the screen must be good, have to sacrifice for that haha

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me with the following questions:

1) Is the Microsoft Office upgrade for RM99 worth it? (Ad free, etc)
2) Is the warranty upgrade worth it? And if so, how many years do you guys normally buy and why?
3) Any other specific items you guys think are worthwhile adding and why?
*
Hi.

1. Not sure about this, I never purchased before. If it's the full Microsoft Office then I think it is worth it since it is original.

2. Yup, definitely, most people upgrade to 3 years InHome Service After Remote Diagnosis around RM349. When your laptop has problems, just call dell and they will send a technician to fix/exchange the parts next working day with no question asked. e.g. you call them and say overheat, they will just come and change a new fan for you.

3. If for Dell 15R SE, I think the FHD + 32GB mSata SSD + backlit option is worthy. The rest I don't think so.

Just placed my order with a Dell chat agent, unfortunately the price is no difference with the price I order myself and there is no extra freebies either.
